  1. Puck movement and forecheck > poor quality shots UND came out moving the puck and establishing the forecheck. The first SCSU goal was a total fluke...that is the puck luck piece We did not get outplayed. We had one defensive breakdown and one fluke against.
  2. They had good puck movement this period. SCSU blocked shots and clogged the slot well.
  3. ZERO puck luck. WTF...I feel like we carried the play only to be down by 2
  4. Not thrilled about this lineup... Watchmaker, not sure what to make of your comment on Panz...the Ralph is small ice
  5. Big weekend...Four huge points. I think we can go 8-4 down the stretch here. That should put us in the top 3 in the league, which is huge for getting to the Final Five. The bottom 3 right now (AA, MTU, BSU) are clearly inferior to the three teams ahead of them (CC, MSUM, Wisco). You don't want to play any of those 3 with a trip to the 5, and likely their season on the line.
  6. Chains suck
  7. Couldn't agree more. You are calling the lines exactly as I see them too. This team's best defense has to be a dominating offense. Have 2 lines that can score, one line for puck possession- just work the cycle, and one line for energy.
  8. 1. Saunders appears better positionally to me. Gothberg quicker but more reckless positionally. Right now its a toss up for me. If Zane "wins" the starting job late in the year, it might be the confidence builder he needs to be THE goalie for a title run. 2. I have also been talking of moving Rowney off the second line and down to the third. Play him with St Clair and Mitch Mac. That line would be solid. 3. Agree with this. We are an aggressive team, not a sit and wait and hope to turn the puck over team. 4. I'd change this up to say make short, crisp passes; tape to tape. Drop pass in the defensive zone? When I read that i started doing pushups...that isn't a smart play. 5. Bjugstad is an NHL forward. He is big and strong and highly skilled. His goal on Saturday was due to physically overwhelming Forbert. I think one of the things overlooked is the cause for our terrible defensive play was often a Bjugstad or a Budish. Those two MEN really manhandled our D. Only Mac was their physical equal. Bjugstad manhandled Corban pretty well too when the lines went #1 vs #1.
  9. I give the following "better than passing" grades to Sioux players on Saturday night: Kristo: A (had jump, scored the first goal, rang the post in OT) Rocco: A (also had jump, scored a beauty, rang the post in OT) Knight: A- (wasn't himself in the faceoff circle, scored a big breakaway goal) Caggiula: A- (was making it happen, finished his checks, scored a great hard work goal) St Clair: B+ (really hustled, blocked shots, finished his checks) Rodwell: B (really hustled, perfect pass to send Knight in alone) Simpson: B (played positionally sound in our end and jumped into the offense a couple times) Gleason: B- (made no blatent, costly mistakes, used his skating ability to get the puck up ice)
  10. I don't think anyone is happy with the outcome of last night's game. I think people are just moving on and trying to take something positive out of a disappointing weekend.
  11. True, he's most known for winning the most important game in history for US amateur hockey.
  12. Coached Minnesota to 3 National Championships and played a huge role in promoting hockey at St Cloud State and all over Minnesota in general. He is a member of the US hockey hall of fame. I was joking about naming it after him just to get under the skin of the Gophers.
  13. It would be classic to name it after Herb Brooks!!!!
  14. Derek Sutton, Ned Brayden, Johnny Upton, Billy Charlesbois...
  15. How about the Reg Dunlop?
  16. Rowney Parks and St Clair would be an excellent puck protection line. I think Parks just brings too much offense to the picture to not be a top 6
  17. I am thinking Rowney is the #3 center: Knight with Kristo and Rocco Mark Mac with Parks and Caggiula Rowney with St. Clair and Mitch Mac Pattyn with Rodwell and Gaarder
  18. He's saying Bowling Green won the CCHA title for 3 years while Michigan Tech was a member of the CCHA. The MacNaughton follows Tech.
  19. Broadmoor should stay with CC and move to the NCHC. Not sure what they will come up with for the league regular season title. Trying to think of a legendary player, coach, or setting that would resonate for all teams...
  20. Love the props to Drew. That is Sioux hockey on proud display there. A skill player, sticking up for a teammate and dropping the gloves with a known tough guy. Not to mention taking a really good shot and hanging in there.
  21. Call on the ice was no-goal, so you can't really fault him for going bananas on the save...turns out it was a missed call on the ice that they got right with review. Man, when Kristo and Rocco are both jacked up they can fly and shoot the lights out. I think they have to stop playing "posts" in practice.
  22. Can someone post it...maybe slow it down? I didn't think it went in, but I did think it hit 2 pipes.
  23. I knew both Rocco and Danny hit pipes, but I wasn't sure if Danny did post then bar. A 2poster is soooo close.
  24. Did Danny's ring off two posts too? I do believe that we had very little puck luck this weekend. Hopefully we are saving it for the NCAAs.
  25. The Gophers are currently the best team in the country. They manhandled a Johnny G-less BC team. They handily defeated Notre Dame. We had a 4-2 lead in the third on their ice and ended up tied. I think that we are legitimately a contender. In fact, I like the idea of being the slight underdog. It should inspire us down the stretch. Remember the Frattin team dominated all year and fell just short. That same season, UMD was considered a one trick pony with a lethal top line and they won the NCAAs as an underdog.
