  1. So, with Tambellini leaving early, I think we just opened a pathway to get ice time for a freshman Gersich next year if he can get his schooling done. The wildcard for next year will be if Grimaldi stays. I don't think he's proven he can dominate at this level, so the issue is going to be whether or not Fl is concerned with his development. I am optimistic about next year's team...
  2. Thought the 2nd and 3rd lines had their best games of the year. I really like the MOP line and St Clair, CHyzyk and Murphy,,, Before we pat ourselves on our back and talk draft picks, Slavin and the Swede are all world players...they were at the WJC and you can tell why. Those 2 are real talent.
  3. Someone needs to inform these boys that life is all about walking the talk.
  4. Old time, prison style, hockey...
  5. That sounds like a nice lunchpail line to me...I like it. So...Rocco between jewels and Johnson MacMillan between Parks and OD St Clair with Chyzyk and Murphy Pattyn with Gaarder and Rodwell/Mitch Mac I can live with this lineup
  6. If you want an education, go to the library. If you want to get laid, go to college.
  7. Signing bonuses are usually paid in a lump sum up-front. Yes, it costs you more in taxes, but it saves the team more in taxes.
  8. 5-6 minutes with the Rangers is a lot better for his bank account
  9. I'd say this...some elite level talents have specific talents that their team needs more of than others... Danny is a second line winger project. Miller can play anywhere in the lineup.
  10. It wasn't for violating the sanctity of the handshake line. It was for doing something stupid and not acting like a leader.
  11. Miller also got his signing bonus the day he inked his deal. If you can get the rookie max deal or darn close, you'd be crazy not to take the money and skip college. You'd be crazier to blow the money thinking its all going to be champagne and caviar.
  12. The WHL is a superior league to all these leagues. It should come as a surprise to noone that a former WHL player would tear up the Alberta league or perform better in the USHL. How do you think Sidney Crosby or Patrick Kane would've done in the Alberta league or the USHL?? The issue is what do you do now if you've blown your college eligibility and blown your opportunity in the CHL? If you left the CHL to play in another league, you can not play NCAA, and you likely aren't going to any pro league above the ECHL. Maybe some of these kids plan on playing college hockey in Canada?
  13. On hockeydb, it looks like he probably got cut and was just looking for a place to catch on...sounds like a very sad case...like a kid who just wants to keep that dream alive, even when its clearly long dead...losing record in the W, brutal save % and GAA
  14. Why would you ever leave CHL to play in USHL, BCHL, AJHL??? Are you really looking forward to that ECHL $25k per year for three years followed by $15/hour in a mine or mill for the rest of your life??
  15. I don't really think it is leaving us in a lurch...we've got plenty of 4th line guys. Heck, I bet there are intramural players at UND who could produce 4 points in half a season, especially playing with Rocco and Jewels for a significant amount of time. He was such a disappointment and so inconsequential to the team, I just don't really care... If Adam couldn't compete for ice with Luke Johnson, how is he going to do against Rick Nash???
  16. I've heard our guys chirping on the ice. Its part of the game. This so called "sanctity of the handshake line" seems to be made up by fans. As a player, it was never instilled in me that the handshake was something sacred. It is just what you did after the game. I don't condone it, but it isnt the big deal that others are acting like it is. Would people have preferred that they wait outside the locker room after the game? Clearly the Gopher didnt want to fight during the game, which is when it should've been settled. Pulling a guy out of line is not the same as jumping him and beating him up. It is an attempt to fight fair and square. Dumb idea to do it, not quite so sacred, all players chirp, in future- fight fair and square during the game
  17. This has nothing to do with classiness. It has everything to do with fit. At a certain point you have to determine if sticking out a commitment is the best option going forward. Example- do you stay married to an abusive alcoholic because you made a commitment at one point? I wouldn't... I will say that his flight to the dub is a self-indictment of an inability to: A) produce offensively in the NCAA B) produce in UND's system of strong two-way play C) earn top 6 scoring line and special teams ice time I question if the BC league isn't what it used to be...
  18. Looks like his brother also was 3+ points per game in the BCHL as a 17 year old. Adam was about a point per game in the same league as a 17 year old and almost 1.5 ppg as an 18 year old.
  19. I'm sure he had a ride, so this probably freed up a ton of scholarship $. The kid was not a fit - it clearly wasn't working for him or the team...very little production. This will work out best for all involved, although I don't think well ever see Adam in an NHL uniform barring a miracle in development. It's really tough to make the NHL. Tougher yet to be a scorer. With his frame, I have to think he should've been developing his two way game and doing everything to be a bottom sixer. Gym, diet, grinding... He's a 3rd rounder. If you think about there being 8 roster non-scoring line forwards per NHL team, that's 240 jobs. Considering you have a few guys 18-20, a ton of 21-33, and a few 34+ year olds in the league, there isn't a lot of room if you aren't among the very, very best in your age. Being a third rounder, you are already behind 60 some other guys, and behind maybe 30 non top 6 projects just in your draft class...he'll be 20 in November...
  20. They did in 2006...skinny, underage kid from Winnipeg, played at Shattuck, it rains gold medals on him when he plays international, and he had his name on the cup twice by 25...
  21. CHL has great players, probably more top-end talent than NCAA, although there are definitely top end talent guys in NCAA too, just more in CHL. NCAA will be deeper with that next tier of player though, especially the older and bigger and stronger players and the late bloomers. I am guessing that it was all about fit with Tambellini. Sometimes the player is great and the program is great, they just aren't great together.
  22. I can think of twice in recent history where we had 3- Murray, Stafford, and Parise then Oshie, Toews, and Chorney. We've had an MVP (Parise) and 2 directorate all stars (Parise and Toews)
  23. He was outstanding. Strong on his skates, finished every check. Good skill with a definite mean streak. Okay skater, good hockey sense.
  24. Jack Ahcan of Burnsville is an undersized but dynamic skating dman, seems cut of the Chay Genowy cloth. I watched the Bville Edina game onThursday, and he really impressed me with his skill. A+ skating A hands B compete A hockey sense B shot He's a jr and the property of Cedar Rapids in the USHL. He is very small now, but if he hit 5'10 190 and spent 2 years in the USHL, he could be a great pick up
  25. Trouba and Jones were awesome last year
