Minnesota is having a great season. No doubt about it that on paper, and from what I've seen, they are better than anyone in the NCHC. Wisconsin is a solid team, but I would likely put them at parity with a UND or a SCSU Michigan is pretty good, I would put them somewhere in the UND, SCSU, UNO, WMU mix DU and Miami are sneaky...they can blow up on occassion and steal one with a hot goalie (Brittain) and a high powered top line. Play the games- the proof will be in the pudding

I've never known you to troll in my years on this site. Miami does have more firepower up front, but UND doesn't play run and gun this year- due to, as you stated, a lack of upfront firepower. Miami is weak in the dzone, so a grinding, cycling approach can really exacerbate that. Gotta attack, not defend, and attack in the right way. I'll be honest, everything is bonus hockey right now. This is not the Parise team, its not the DOT team, its not the Pony Express team- this team is a pair of top end players shy of a "normal" Sioux team. Its playoff hockey- all bets are off- UND's biggest weakness this year is the pp and that lack of a top end scoring line

I bet the UND alum in the metro stat is higher than that...there are 3.5 million residents of the MSP/StP MSA. 20,000 would be 0.5% of all residents...I sure seem to see more Sioux gear than that around here!

It essentially makes your center a non-factor, which allows them to effectively pressure the puck carrier and jump the wingers while still keeping two d back. It also makes boring hockey.

Our top 3 goal scorers have 35 goals combined (MATT FRATTIN HAD 36 HIMSELF IN 2010-2011, LEE GOREN 34 IN 1999-2000, BOCHENSKI 35 IN 2002-2003) Last year, our top two had 42 year prior, our top two had 47 year prior, our top two had 61 YEar prior, our top two had 36 Year prior, our top two had 38 36 49 48 36 50 61 40 58 56 I guess my point is that I knew we were impotent offensively, but our top 3 goal scorers have combined for less goals than the top two in every year that is on USCHO and about the same as our top goal scorer in three of the last 14 seasons... Firepower- little light this year...

Been trying to figure out our issue for awhile...especially on the breakout and the lack of flow. Hak coaches to prevent the opportunity for other teams to capitalize on your mistakes. He does this by keeping pucks to the outside- at all costs. Most breakouts are designed to go d to wing to center to wing and to utilize three forward lanes up the ice. By not using the middle of the ice until you get into the neutral zone, you do eliminate the potential for bad passes into your own slot. However, you also limit your options on the breakout. If I know you wont pass to the middle, I'll just keep pushing you outside.

Totally agree- we lack the top, top end that we're used to up front. The mac, parks, and jewels line is a very solid 2nd unit.

Not for NHL readiness reasons, but maybe for improving development- Rocco has regressed IMO, Slavin and the Swede for CC look every bit as good as Schmaltz...

This team is not talented enough to win on talent alone...they HAVE to bring everything they have for 60 minutes, do the simple things really well, get shots on goal and drive the net. CC did a great job keeping us on the perimeter. Why this team will not make the NCAAs: inconsistency, poor powerplay Why this team will make the NCAAs: When they fire, they fire like a Sioux team I think Jewels will put up massive numbers when he is a senior. There's more than little Osh in him.

Johnson and Grimaldi are too talented to continue being kept off the scoresheet. Need that line to fire the way the MacMillan and Gaarder lines are firing.
