  1. Johnson and LaDue are locks for all rookie team Thompson and Stecher will warrant consideration Goth berg and Simpson are locks on conference honors Schmaltz, parks, and Rocco will warrant consideration Nicely done boys- rookies doing great, which is the correlation back to this thread. Also- who'd have thought Tambellini and Murphy not in lineup...
  2. Home team makes the call on alternate jerseys
  3. Time to put the women and children to bed. Win a trophy tonight. Beer tastes better and the girls get prettier when you win.
  4. They had a bad line change that led to an oddman and a goal. 2 other goals were mirror images of each other with a good, low, hard shot to the far side, then our winger beat the dman to the rebound. Looked more like Gaarder and MacMillan simply outskated the d on the weak side...drive the far post with your stick on the ice, use your speed to get body position...text book winger play.
  5. That bulldog team had a stacked top line and pp. we need our pp to start firing now. 5x5 is looking good...NCAAs have a tendency to be special team fests. We need to fire on the pp and prepare to handle the tv stoppages. We appear to be a lock for the tourney now. First things first....business suits and the inaugural Penrose sounds pretty good to me!
  6. WCHA used to be head to head first. NCHC the first tie-breaker is conference wins. They did this due to the new tie and shoot out point rules.
  7. Can't see from tv why interstellar going wide
  8. UND playing solid. Easy pp goal for clown. Good hockey game
  9. to be fair, I have two degrees from Carlson, and I wouldn't know ski from sky
  10. Couldn't agree more. Private schools, who recruit no less, should never play class A. There should be a super championship too, pitting the A champion vs AA champion vs Midget AAA champion
  11. Do the March stats include playoffs? If it does, we should have a pair of bottom dweller victories every March from the first round of the playoffs- well bottom dweller most years. I'd be interested in seeing the variation in opponent RPI during both periods. I'd also like to see how much variation there is if we flex the dates by say two weeks. There is a trend, my question is how durable, and can we make an intelligent deduction on causality. I'm starting to think that I'm talking to the analysts at work...the stock market reference really makes me scared...following trend and momentum voodoo is fine if you're a day trader, it is (along with huge leverage) very responsible for Lehman and the near economic collapse. Miss a variable in your model due to a poor understanding of true causality, and the formula flips and now you're on the backside of a bad leverage position.
  12. I dont have time to do a complete analysis, but it stands to reason that in 2006-2007 certainly, the difference was an uber-talented freshman class maturing.
  13. I personally get amusement from this thread, and I get to vent... All of us want the same thing, and all of us invest some of ourselves into the team. Some of us bitch, some of us cheer lead, some of us analyze, some of us do all of the above depending on the day. Sioux hockey lets me escape from my real life stress and stress about something that isn't really all that important to me- comparatively to my wife, children, career, etc. I think those of us who have experienced the elation of a national championship just keep "chasing the dragon" and a little bit just isn't enough...seriously, addicts chasing the high, that's us... I've been lamenting most of this season. Now, we're on the cusp of a potential conference title and yet another NCAA berth (barring the wheels coming off)...just when I thought I'd kicked the habit, Rick James shows up...
  14. So we can win the Penrose on Saturday night and lock up the number 1 seed, correct? A sweep in regulation would give us 15 wins and 45 points The best cloud could then finish is 14 wins and 45 points with a sweep to end the reg season The best UNO could finish is 14 wins and 45 points with 4 wins to end the reg season Am I doing this right?
  15. Zach is a class act all the way. To say otherwise is just plain ignorant. You can interpret comments or play tem out of context as much a you'd like and it doesn't change who he is. Also, calling into question his integrity based on a business decision as a free agent? Please. I've had the pleasure of interacting with him off the ice and have seen his graciousness and genuine kindness first hand. I guarantee he was not happy with his or the teams performance.
  16. I'd be really surprised if it was this year...we are much better positioned for next year IMO. Agree no way can you argue lack of talent or desire on the players parts- we had captain serious for Christ sake. He's the most big time/big game player on the planet. I do agree that sometimes the hockey Gods don't smile on you and there is nothing Toewser and Oshie or Hak can do about it. Sometimes a great system runs into a better team. Sometimes creativity wins. Sometimes it rains.
  17. I laughed at that one too. In Europe, you can make $75-$150k tax free in the better leagues. More in the KHL obviously. F4F is correct in his ECHL assessment. $20-$25k is very common in the ECHL...Kane made more in the CHL : )
  18. What I am describing is 1 seed MN playing team X 2 seed UW playing 3 seed UND No intraconference issues here
  19. To clarify, then bracket I described can happen...AND it would be epic!
  20. I'd prefer CC...we embarrassed Miami...I don't like seeing a team we humiliated
  21. Agree it can't happen, but a Umn, UW, UND bracket would be epic.
  22. A split at SCSU and a sweep of WMU at home and UND will win the first Penrose and be a virtual lock for the NCAAs. Go Sioux tiebreaker criteria 1. Conference wins 2. Head to Head 3. Goal differential head to head
