Lots of great memories listening to Doug and Frank Mazzocco covering Gopher games on the old Midwest Sports Channel. I loved hearing Doug complain about how hard it was reading the names and numbers on the backs of the old CC jerseys Stories like that and many others, you were always entertained listening to a Gopher hockey broadcast with Woog. Nice guy too, met him only one time at Whitey’s but also got to hear him speak at Sioux boosters his last year coaching the Gophers and he was such a great sport, taking the ribbing that he got from old Marvin who told lots of jokes at Doug’s expense.

Agreed. About midway through the third it was 4 on 4 and Wilkie enters the DU zone and gets the puck stripped from his stick. He just stops dead in his tracks and stands there and pouts for having the puck stolen. Meanwhile DU goes the other direction with numbers and Wilkie is nowhere to be found back checking. He needs to learn that it’s a two-way game.

CC didn’t deserve to win tonight. If it weren’t for Vernon, we would’ve lost 6 or 7 to nothing. That said, early in the third period in a scoreless game, the DU player blows a tire and they call CC for tripping which leads to a DU power play goal.

I had the fortune to go to game 6 of the Kelly Cup Finals a couple of years ago and the atmosphere in that arena was eclectic. Yah, it was a huge game for the Eagles which added to the excitement but the arena itself had the feel of a college arena. The place seats like 5 or 6,000 thereabouts but with low ceilings and great sight lines. I commented to my wife what a great venue this would be for a college team. You will have fun there for the regionals, especially if UND makes it there.
