  1. Tonight’s UMD/Mankato game will be on the PAC 12 Network as well as streaming for free. https://pac-12.com/live/arizona-state-university
  2. https://letsgodu.com/2018/11/29/denver-boone-pins-have-finally-arrived/ For those of you who collect college hockey memorabilia, check out the link above for Denver Boone pins. Boone was dropped as their mascot by the powers that be at DU a few years ago so these are not officially licensed by the school. I just got mine in the mail and they’re pretty nice and would enhance anyone’s hockey pin collection.
  3. They’re good and even more so, they play with a lot of attitude and moxy. They won’t be intimidated in the least playing any of these 3 ranked opponents. In fact, I think they will revel in the opportunity to face either MSU Mankato or Duluth (But first they need to focus on Clarkson).
  4. CC is a pretty small team and it showed against ASU.
  5. I just saw the final score between Canada and Denmark. Nice to see that Canada didn’t run up the score.
  6. https://mobile.twitter.com/frank_seravalli/status/1074756521718878209?ref_src=twsrc^tfw|twcamp^tweetembed|twterm^1074756521718878209&ref_url=http%3A%2F%2Fsiouxsports.com%2F Ouch.....reading Flyers fan comments makes other teams’ fans sound like angels. They’re pretty unforgiving.
  7. I see those who are biased against NCAA hockey viewing Hak’s firing as confirmation of their original and on-going biases and therefore I can’t see Hakstol getting another head coaching job, sadly.
  8. I’d love it if Hakstol were to pursue a head coaching vacancy in the NCAA. I think there would be several programs who’d salivate to hire him.
  9. Impressions of ASU this weekend... 1) Oceanside Arena is old and small, no better than your typical aging single sheet arena you’d find most bantam teams playing in. 2) ASU likes to get into track meets with teams and they’re very good at playing at that pace. I lost count of the # of odd man rushes they had over the course of the weekend. 3) Johnny Walker is the real deal. He scored 4 goals but he should’ve had 6 or 7 this weekend. He was everywhere. But the team isn’t carried solely by him, they have some very fast forwards up and down the lineup. CC tried getting into a track meet with them and it wasn’t pretty. 4) Goalie Joey Daccord is a good netminder and he is big-he takes up most of the net. CC’s best period of the weekend came in the 1st period on Friday (and really their only complete period) where they controlled play and peppered Daccord with several quality shots only to be denied. 5) I was told that the plan is to break ground on the new arena this spring with a scheduled opening for the 2020-2021 season. Makes you wonder if this might open the door for future talks with the NCHC about conference affiliation?
  10. After a great first period and then scoring two goals in a 42 second span, CC fell asleep and ASU came alive. Credit ASU, rather than fold the tent, they turned it on after falling behind 2-0. Johnny Walker comes as advertised too. The guy is always in the right spot. Did anyone read this week’s predictions on USCHO? Whoever the guy was that predicted CC would sweep, calling ASU overrated and saying they haven’t really beaten anyone good is crazy! ASU is legit, they are a damn good team and will be in good position for an at-large berth in the national tournament.

  12. Yah, I’ve heard 700 seats but that may be an exaggeration. A guy on my beer league team hooked me up with tickets as he played at ASU in college.
  13. Heading to Tempe this weekend for the CC/ASU series. I hear they play in an arena, Oceanside, that’s not much bigger than Purper Arena.
  14. I heard about that floating Tiger head! How annoying! As a CC alum, I’m embarrassed at that!
  15. Oh yah, I was there and I was so pissed! Wilkie rang iron three times in that game alone and I believe CC got 2 empty netters in the last minute of the game. UND deserved to win but Leclerc stood on his head.
  16. UND has struggled at World Arena the past two seasons, splitting with the Tigers each of the past two years. Two years ago, a really bad CC team’s only home win of the season was a 3-0 victory over North Dakota and then last year the two teams split their 4 games. CC is an improved team compared to last year but still not very high in the PWR so I’d say that series is as crucial if not more so than the Canisius series as conference points are also on the line.
  17. CC backup goaltender Alec Calvaruso has left the program. That leaves just two goalies-starter Alex Leclerc and sophomore back up, Jon Flakne with just one period of playing experience.
  18. @MafiaMan is typically thrown out on the ice toward the end of a game when it’s become out of hand and the team needs an enforcer. Think of him as a version of Ryan Reaves for Vegas.
  19. Hopefully these next several weeks, the guys can heal up. Anyone heading to Buffalo for the Canisius series? My wife thinks I’m crazy for going to Buffalo in January (which I am).
  20. I can hear the Pios fans now, “Gardner’s dirty....typical dirty North Dakota!”
  21. DU’s playing a smart, efficient game so far.
  22. Just providing play-by-play for those experiencing technical difficulty.
  23. Looked like that goal was the result of a UND turnover along the rail.
  24. I’m sure the folks at Let’s Go DU are tickled pink about Kierstad’s game DQ. Have a feeling DU’s going to come out flying tonight to try and salvage points, they’re in desperation mode too.
