Pics or it didn’t happen…

I’m biased in this opinion but I am really bullish on Kris Mayotte. He has taken steps each and every year now at CC. He has pretty much flushed out the Haviland era in every way. I see him continuing to move the program forward this year as well. Watching them in every home game and most road games this year, they play with swagger, they play with snarl (as Starman likes to say), and they play with moxie. They’ve gotten bigger yet haven’t sacrificed the speed and skill necessary to compete. I could see Mayotte doing some special things, bringing the program back to national relevance and then eventually moving on to a bigger more high profile program, giving Peter Mannino his shot at a head coaching gig as Mayotte’s replacement. Would UND ever consider going so far outside the box with a guy like Mayotte or Raboin as some have mentioned here? Would Mayotte even have any interest if such an opportunity arose?

I think, tonight, I’ve just entered stage five of the five stages of grief…acceptance.

It’s kinda fun to theorize but my CC friends aren’t to fond of my theory. Just wondering if Mayotte is poised to do at CC what Lucia did 30 years ago.

I’m telling you, my theory (which is based on absolutely zero facts) is, Penn State muddles along through the season while Kris Mayotte continues to build at CC and at the end of the year, Penn State lets Gadowsky go and they go after Mayotte, who is from Pennsylvania. Then, CC promotes Peter Mannino to head coach for the Tigers. Or, maybe perhaps Jim Montgomery???

Well, that’s another way to get your name on the scoresheet.

I just turned the game on a few minutes ago. UND has used two of their timeouts just a few minutes into the second half?

I’m not much for moral victories but I gotta give UND credit tonight. I can accept a loss when they play hard. DU is simply just a damn good team that doesn’t beat themselves.

The “Let’s go hawks!” chants from the cheer squad are coming in loud and clear on my tv! Let’s do this!

I don’t know about 2nd, Western Michigan is looking pretty darn good right now. But I hope you’re right that we will finish in the top half.

What frustrated me listening to Berry’s post game comments last night was his acknowledgment of the penalty trouble the team got into. Broken record, tired of hearing about that week in and week out without any sense of improvement in that regard. As an example, the penalty we took in the third didn’t burn us in the sense of giving up another goal but it took another precious 2 minutes off the clock for the team to try to generate some chances, gain some momentum. However, it felt like a period where DU really locked things down and UND had trouble as it was with zone entries and gaining O zone time. Quit talking about what we need to do differently and start doing it.

CC was out played the entire game by Western. CC went into a defensive shell in the third and paid the price for it. Mbereko can’t bail them out like this every time they play a good team. Western was the first big test for CC.

Does Carle and his staff out recruit and out develop his players more than us?

Mbereko is just that solid and they’re also missing Laba due to injury.
