I would agree, the Russians looked fast but out of sync. They haven't had much time to play together so no surprise. They will win some games as they learn to play as a team. It was nice to see Maris get some ice time. I didn't think he had a chance on the Russian goal. And Eids played well - 2 shutout periods. The PP looked great but I think it was more that the Russians' PK was so poor. At any rate, a nice win.

I think SCSU should be asked to join the NCHC - as soon as hell freezes over.

I will be staying with a friend in Tampa, who will be joining me for the games. He doesn't know anything about hockey but he's looking forward to it. If things work out, we will boat to the games!

There is no one on this board that would like to see UND continue to use the Fighting Sioux name more than me. But certainly it looks like it will do more harm than good to continue the fight to keep the name. UND must get admission to a good conference, and admission to the Big Sky will not happen unless the nickname issue is resolved. UND made a settlement with the NC$$ and I don't see a way around it. We can continue to use the nickname and be denied admission to any conference, and soon see the ramifications in the hockey program. Whatever it takes, let's get it behind us and move forward.

I wouldn't count on Emmert being more likely to see the nickname in a positive light. His last job was at UW, and there's a lot of liberlism there. Invite Standing Rock? I completely disagree. The leaders have been as anti-nickname as anyone, and have not allowed the members of the tribe to have their say. Why should they be allowed to participate now that the legislature has put the nickname into law? The question has moved from what to do with the nickname to what should we do to make sure we can keep the nickname.

I will be going for my 3rd FF, with my brother - his first. We're pumped!
