They do not have the depth Moorhead has, so they need more production out of their top line. Plus Oshie is an offensive machine, it seems like he gets a scoring chance every time he's on the ice (from my limited viewing of him). The Stats Site

  3. Isn't the Golden Griffins the name of Harry Potter's house? Maybe Canisious is the American wizard school. That would explain Jon Durno, maybe he really is a Wookie? Or some sort of Ogre like the big guy that is friends with Harry Potter.
  4. I for one was pulling for the Mavs. Even if WI was not ahead of the Sioux in points I would be pulling for the Mavs over WI. The Sioux fans you saw must have been pissed off by the way they were treated in kato, which is somewhat understandable.
  5. I agree with this non-penalty. The Duluth dman used a WWF move slamming his head into the boards. How Anderson didn't call that was beyond me. This series was probably the worse reffed one I've seen this year. For both teams. A couple of the Dogs penalties were pretty weak. Calling both Greene and Jones for that 2:00 5X3 killed the Sioux. How many 5X3's were there this weekend? That said the refs were bad but the Sioux defense was worse last night. They can't allow 40 shots and expect to win a game.

  7. Bad defensive effort for the Sioux tonight. At least one Duluth team lost tonight, Moorhead beat East 7-2, my cousin got another hat trick

  9. Some of those complaining were the same that complained how watered down MN HS hockey was getting with all the players going to the USHL. Now because of the elite league very few players leave. So these people now complain Lee shouldn't make the team because he plays lowly HS hockey and hasn't faced any competition this year I have seen all of these kids play and from what I've seen Johnson is probably the best all around D-man. But he doesn't have the offensive or skating skills Lee has. Personally I was more surprised Borer from St. Cloud made it. Edit - Oops I must have cokeheads on my brain.
  10. I agree, but Earl was clearly one of the best players at the camp also. Although I can see him being left off for his attitude. But a few good days in the summer doesn't make up for a very poor 1/2 season IMO. About the Canadians, I've heard a lot of whining about them overlooking such a high first round pick in Zajac. Look at the #5 pick from last years draft. He will be sitting in Green Bay watching the games on TV Seriously the Canadians had only a few spots to fill, most of their team is coming back. They are very deep at forward, this will probably be one their best teams ever. Zajac was really the only college player that had the ability to be a serious contender. It sounds like he was considered, but it's not like the guys picked in front of him are pee-wee B players.
  11. Maybe they could lock all the yuppie types in an hour or so before the game and give their tickets to students hanging out at Dagwoods
  12. When NDSU went D1 I received a letter from the Pres telling me my diploma was worth more because it is from a D1 school. The letter was probably partially true. To be a D1 football school (that is D1A) they have to meet strict academic standards. Which is funny considering the majority of players they get fall far below the standards they set up I don't know if NDSU had to change anything about admissions upon their move, but I would guess they did. Maybe the reason UND was talking about increasing their ACT scores had something to do with a possible move Just speculation on my part, I really have no clue how the NCAA works, nor do I have any desire to learn.
  13. Some big surprises here, most notably: Made team: Brian Lee, Casey Borer, Kevin Porter, and the biggest surprise - Mike Brown, his stats so far this season - 2 goals 0 assists in 15 games - WTF was Sandy thinking there? Didn't make it: J. Johnson, Thelen and the biggest surprise - Robbie Earl. I hate him as much as anyone else, but the kid can play his stats are 9 goals 12 assists in 16 games. How Brown and his 2 points gets in over Earl and his 21 is beyond me.
  14. I don't think another discussion on student tickets would be very productive I for one cannot see how any student would pay money (yes even $6) to be harassed and threatened for 2 1/2 hours.
  15. How about one thread per subject
  16. I don't think he was hurting at all. I think Morinville wanted to give a sophomore D - Foss, some ice time. Either that or their was an equipment problem. He started the game then was off until the second period. After that he played a regular shift and was on the PP.
  17. Lee didn't even play most of the first period and the third period was running time. The Moorhead lines were: Becker-Fisher-Loos Clukey-Vandevelde-Miller 3/4 lines were mixed up. The #1 PP was amazing. The 8-0 score was closer than what it should have been. On PP they had Vandevelde-Fisher-Loos and Lee - Ammerman on point. All five of these players are over 6' fast and have great hands. Next Sat Mhd plays Duluth East at home, and the Sat after that they play White Bear Lake at home. Those teams will provide much more competition than Alex or Bemidji.
  18. Not only can they, they will, and have before. A search of the Gopher series threads will show how ridiculous the REA security/staff has become. I guess the people that are there to watch hockey bother those at the game busy being socialites or doing business.
  19. 8,500 seat arena for BB in Fargo? There is no way NDSU needs an 8500 person arena for BB. How many people attend the games now? 2,000 tops would be my guess. I fail to see why people think moving to D1 will increase peoples interest in attending these games. NDSU (nor UND) will ever be able to recruit players to make a legitimate BB team. While the move to D1AA for football was a good idea (and will be a necessary move for UND) they do so at the expense of many other sports. Womens BB may have some good seasons while Amy Ruley is around, but the mens program all but ended when they went D1. Besides football the only other sport the D1 move was good for was wrestling - again because of the coach, once Bucky's gone so goes the program.
  20. Agreed. Too bad the people on the message board are not making the decisions. Although I'm sure the college and conferance presidents read this site

    UAA

Last I saw he quit hockey to go into "promotions"
  22. It is nice to know the North Dakota University System Chancellor makes policy decisions based on a bitch-fest by people hiding behind the anonymity of the internet. I read a blog about a guy in North Dakota claiming "black" helicopters from the federal government are spying on us. Maybe Potts should force all University buildings be lined with tinfoil to prevent the government from reading our minds.
  23. Sweet avatar. New Family Guy Episodes March 2005! I agree the Big Sky doesn't want UND anymore than NDSU, what they really want is both. NDSU and UND are well respected for their sports programs. UND would be foolish not to make the jump in the next couple of years. It would be almost as bad as NDSU missing the boat to get D1 hockey 15 or so years ago.
