After the back to back BC PP, it'd be awesome to see Bentley get a crack at a PP. That being said, BC could maybe just as easily strike for a SHG on that PP :|

And if you compare PWR and KRACH from this season I think they were closer to each other than they typically are. KRACH has also favored teams in a conference that has the best out of conference record, and NCHC has benefited in the past in that ranking and in PWR, but this year the conference was down relative to HE and B1G. Before the season one couldn't easily predict that happening but everyone goes into the season knowing you need to win the games you should and bad results can bite you in the ass at the end. UND has lived it so many times that you'd think the coaches would be beating it into the boys' heads from the first practice on, but it doesn't seem to sink in until it's too late. I spoke with a couple of players at the Champions ball a few years ago and at that time they didn't seem to really have a good grasp on PWR and it's implications. I would never expect them to understand the intricacies of it all but if the coaches aren't hammering home that they need to beat the likes of BSU and RMU and losses to them can be really bad come tourney time, then that's a coaching fail.

When I read the letter my take was that the "too many to name" comment was in reference to the "Ralph Engelstad staff/employees". Given how long the letter was and how many other people were named specifically, it does seem odd that the associate/assistant coaches were not mentioned, or even Poolman for that matter. Someone else had mentioned that the Dane/Brad relationship was all hunky-dory initially but that it soured over time. I also had heard that Brad had started limiting Dane's voice and influence with the players and that Dane also wanted to handle the most significant locker room issue thing differently but obviously Brad had final say there. I'm not trying to trash Brad at all as he is a genuine guy and I have no doubts that he did everything with the intent that it be for the best of the program, but perhaps his big heart and softer nature clouded his judgement a bit. I don't know who'd be the best next coach either. My first choice wasn't going to be Dane and thought a fresh start would be good, but how in the world do any of us really know what'd be best? Perhaps we shouldn't hold some of his coaching responsibilities and the results of them against him just based on this past year. We have had good forward groups in the past, and a solid PK. This year was a dud sure, but if he becomes HC and brings in some very good assistants, perhaps they can take things a new direction and improve results too. If he's named coach, hopefully he can take the bits of things he has seen and experienced under everyone he's worked with and devise a way to getting the guys truly play the brand of hockey we've grown to love over the years.

He can set the tone right away once the seniors are gone and let them know that some of this past season's BS isn't going to fly. Playing time will be earned and transgressions related to moral ineptitude will be met with real consequences.

I was intrigued by the idea of considering Bryn Chyzyk as a possible GM to help orchestrate the scouting, recruitment, nil management.

Yes, great play. I can't believe how long he was able to kneel there and not get someone's attention to knock him out of place. Also, I thought in the one replay the puck deflected off his glove into net. Is that allowed as long as he didn't swing at it? Or maybe it hit something else.

Perhaps because he might be transferring to CC next season to play with his brother

They play tonight (Wed) and IIRC the MN tourney usually ends up on Midco ch. 595 or one of those, despite not showing up on the guide. Not at home to verify if the afternoon games are on but I'm sure someone. here can confirm.

Until something happens of course it's speculation, and that's why I didn't share any names, because I definitely agree that's not real fair. The point is that there's considerable unrest in the locker room and if it doesn't get under control, there could be significant fallout. The players (or at least a subset) have lost faith in Brad and have more appreciation and respect for someone else, and that too is adding to the drama of the situation. If Brad can show true leadership and right the ship, more power to him. I don't want anyone fired as much as I just want to see the program thrive in a positive environment.
-
Not from any players directly but from someone who has discussions with players. I won't share any names because who knows absolutely how serious any comments might be, but a couple of the names I've heard are people we don't want leaving. Heard some other things about player dissatisfaction that paint a pretty unpleasant picture, which is pretty depressing if there's that much angst.

Berry has lost the team. Sounds like an absolute dumpster fire. People wonder if him going away would hurt recruiting but at this point, for this team, him staying might hurt as much or worse. Open discussions among players about desires to transfer out, and if that happens does that also scare away incoming recruits?

Crazy to see this type of thing referenced twice in the past couple of weeks. I was watching a game the other weekend, maybe ASU/DU, and saw the same thing called. Player was let out early and they stopped play and penalized the team for too many men. According to your posted rule it shouldn't have been a penalty but perhaps NCAA is different.

2024-25 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
SIOUXpucks replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
The problem with the speculated situation is that it messes with the brotherhood of the team and can create division within the room, whereas some of those other situations are just kids doing dumb things that probably got mostly laughed off by the teammates and perhaps even strengthened the bond in the locker room. -
For me it’s the stability and positioning, staying upright and in position as much as possible and not flopping into his belly like TJ is prone to do. When push comes to shove, give me the guy that can at least be there to get hit by the puck instead of the one who ends up completely out of position.

These guys really need to do some proofreading before sending stuff out. "horned" to receive an offer? Maybe that'd be a fun play on words if it was regarding the Bison, but doesn't fit the UND context. At least it didn't say "horny"!

Wait, if you always pick UND to lose any game in the tourney, and the team has been having problems with first round exits.....maybe it's time to pick them to win and use that power you have to influence outcomes!

Augustana @ UND (Exhibition) October 5
SIOUXpucks replied to fightingsioux4life's topic in Men's Hockey
It was announced at the Ralph, along with the passing of a handful of former Sioux guys, and there was a moment of silence. Indeed, Augustana might have been playing for a little more tonight and some extra motivation that had then flying around the ice compared to UND. -
"usually 100%" doesn't add up. Either he has always been right (100%) or he's usually right (less than 100%).
-
Uff, and similarly on the game-losing goal he again didn't protect the slot and didn't do much to prevent the goal. Small sample size and he may be an outstanding player, but if so this wasn't a good game for him.
-
He has shown some flashes of talent in today's game but has also been a bit sloppy at times.....and I think that was him who could have defended better on the Cathedral game-tying goal late.
-
Umm, the opposite of what it says I voted for. haha. Should have kicked.

Crap, I hit the wrong button!

Agreed. The stats don’t look great but the eye test was decent. We’ve seen most goalies struggle mightily in their first couple of starts in the Ralph, and by comparison I’d say HH looked plenty solid.
