Despite the posted numbers, attendance was definitely light at the Ralph this past weekend, and I really wonder what it'll be like next weekend when even the season ticket holders have to pony up $52-$62 for tickets. I'm not sure if REA or NCHC sets those prices but I can imagine a lot of empty seats. Seems like gouging to me and they should be priced lower to ensure more butts in the seats. It's also sprint break for UND and the public schools, which isn't going to help sell tickets. More butts at less $$ is better than an equivalent $$ from less butts and higher ticket prices. Fill the place up and make more money on concessions, although "dollar dogs" would also be a nice touch!

Yes, on Midco but not as advertised on the guide, and the quality of the feed is not great, so one can watch live, the web stream may provide a better visual experience. If one wants to record to watch delayed though, at least Midco allows for that option.

2025-2026 ND High School Hockey Thread
SIOUXpucks replied to Wilbur's topic in Non-collegiate sports
Agree with what you're saying and so many more kids should just stay put, but sometimes I wonder if billet families may be a better influence on some kids than some of the overbearing real parents that are pushing some of these kids and not being realistic. Some parents are pretty poor role models, but I like the idea of kids staying home to play with their friends and try to have some fun. Like you said, if it's gonna happen, there will be opportunities after high school and if those aren't there then, people are indeed delusional thinking they're going to make it big. I would say that for some of the higher end kids, maybe a senior season away might be ok, but leaving as sophomores or juniors is silly unless they're truly showing elite skill and dominating everything. -
I should have obtained a copyright for the "G Spot" nickname for the Grand Casino when I first used it back in Oct

It would be nice if there was more competition for the US and Canada but I find the game pretty entertaining and fast and skilled enough to be worth tuning in. Yes, I wish they'd allow checking and yes it could be faster and more skilled, but it can still have drama and excitement when the games are close. While not perfect it's a 100x better than the WNBA

You've been on a nice roll the last two series with you picks (really nailed last week), and given the prediction for this weekend, I hope your hot streak continues!

And I deleted my original. I hope the clarification helped, but I also donβt want to make enemies or piss people off on a site where the aim is to simply have fun talking UND sports.

Saw a picture of his lacerated arm. It was nasty. Happy to see that heβs back and has gotten a goal again.

I wasn't personally trying to take a shot at Gavin's mother by using the 'wh*re' word, but rather that was something listed in one of the tweets/stories I had seen, the Coakley guy using that term and setting Gavin off. I was simply trying to hypothesize a situation (and jokingly mind you, hence my "kidding, kidding") where the drunk ass would be motivated to use such language. People joke about Corey Perry and Bedard's mom and people make cracks about a former UND captain and his antics toward other players' girlfriends. I'm not judging anybody in this case (except the asshat who was a jerk and got punched for it) and do not think of McKenna's mother in any negative way. I'm sorry my attempt to jokingly come up with a fictitious reason for the guy to act the way he did offended you so much and to any others similarly offended, I apologize to you as well. But again, to be clear I do NOT think that of Gavin's mother and the use of that word was not my own thought but something I saw quoted elsewhere.

Need due process to play out, but this isn't the type of thing Gavin McKenna wants to be dealing with.... https://onwardstate.com/2026/02/04/gavin-mckenna-facing-felony-charges-over-incident-at-doggies/

The hero puck mentality....kind of reminded me of the WJ OT loss to Finland, where US players (Hutson I remember once obviously) were trying to make 1:1 plays and taking low percentage shots trying to be the hero, instead of maintaining possession and setting up a quality shot. Nice coaching and prep work Bob.

Looked like he only counted to 6 though π

Classy stuff from Chicago and their fans.

I've heard rumor that they will be closing.

I don't think it's fair to compare him to Hobie's stats. Not saying he'll turn out to be a gem, but they're different people and different players. I also don't think Hobie was given that fair of a shake at UND with the portal goalie favoritism that occurred. Weird dynamic and who knows how that contributed to the mental aspect of things. I'm more curious about how Heil coming in as a Fr when Spunar is a So could affect things, especially if Spunar continues to play well. Could Heil get itchy and transfer?

They did state during the game yesterday that things got changed back, such that the goal did ultimately go to Reschny. I didn't look for any validation of that but I believe that's what was said.

Haha, yeah I saw Tambellini and Lemieux on the Davos roster. Jerks!

2025-26 University of North Dakota Hockey Season
SIOUXpucks replied to Frozen4sioux's topic in Men's Hockey
Everyone remember the last time UND played Michigan? That ran the whole gamut of possibilities from controlling and dominating them to getting grossly outplayed in the 3rd period. The margins are razor thin and it can go either way. No way to know what would happen right now if the teams squared off, but it'd be interesting to see. As long as UND keeps growing and developing and the young guys continue to improve, by the end of the season I think we'd have a chance against anyone and it would seem unlikely that we'd get boat-raced. -
That's basically how I feel. I miss the original Brad Millertime videos!

Masterful rope a dope coaching by Isaac. π Hold Ziebarth on the sidelines until the UND fans are ready to storm the sidelines with pitchforks and axes about play calling and then put Z out there like trump card and start doing what everyone has been begging for for weeks. The first couple of runs by Z was like watching Popeye eat some spinach for the offense. Suddenly everyone had more confidence and strength.

Some amusing things in there. In an equipment room they reference Tim Hortons and point to a glorified Keurig and say 'nobody else in the country has this'. Oooh Better yet though, in reference to their hot/cool tubs the guy says they can be adjusted "from 44 Celsius to 104". 44 C is 111 F, and that's the "cold". . They're boiling people at 104! haha. In all seriousness though, that barn looks pretty cool. Neat, low ceiling with people right on top of the ice. I bet it can get pretty loud in there.

UND Fighting Hawks Versus SDSU Saturday November 22nd
SIOUXpucks replied to Und Princess's topic in Football
Either! We have quality players that are being under-utilized and it'd be great to see something different on more occasions and give oppose D coordinators more to think about. -
Ouch. And at this point JJ has seen some of these types of comparisons and must be absolutely mind-f'd right now. I was, and am, really pulling for the guy, but woof, it's been so bad so far. Glad I turned in my Vikings fan membership card after '98 and now watch just for the amusement.

So are we to assume that UND will win 3-2 tonight since they got the 5-2 out of the way last night? And nice work highlighting the third period scoring differentials between the teams π
