The first half and early second they passed the ball. The half dozen long mid to long range open shots they had they missed. UW did not give them anything, and I mean anything within 18 feet of the basket. It was either shoot from the 3 pt line or drive the lane. When they drove the lane they got mugged by the size of the Badgers. Unless the UND big men step up their play 200% they are not going to be any help. Jones needs to recruit some bigger talented dudes and that is not easy as everyone wants them. Great experience for UND's young kids. This UW team is going to go a long way this year.

Attended the game. Several comments, but keep in mind I am far from a knowledgeable BB fan. Have watched Big 10 BB for years and this is an awesome Badger team, huge, athletic, well coached, very very talented, quick, and deep. Far better than Texas A&M, KU or UNI teams that UND has played in recent years. Expect them to be at or near the top of the Big Ten and move up in the rankings as the year goes on barring injuries. Second, UND played with tremendous energy and grit. They were just out sized, out muscled, out shot, and just cannot match up near the basket with this kind of program. Third, UND has some talent, but not in the middle, and that needs to be addressed very soon as these kids cannot get stay healthy getting beat up in the paint like last night. Lastly, these are the ugliest road uniforms I have ever seen and implore whomever decided to go this route to have their head examined. The warm up over shirts are even worse. What happened to that gorgeous green color? Man, they were bad!

I think Nielson is also the AD if he suceeded Schweigert and stayed as coach/AD combo. If so the pay may not be enough. I think he was head coach at Eau Claire too and did very well.

Possible, but then you are short at FB and he does not have the tailback abilities. Only 3 healthy players for two positions. Might have worked though.

I don't think Muss had a choice, he had to pull the redshirt on one RB just to have 2 in the lineup for a couple of games. In hindsight, perhaps he should have moved Goska to RB because he sure as hell is not a QB and pulled the RS off one of the freshman QB's. Move Miller to a WR position and maybe Hendrickson also next year and give the QB job to one of the new kids. They cannot do any worse than what we witnessed this last few weeks. That said Landry was not an effective QB in several games either. Tough year, not enough numbers or talent at the skill positions. Hope next year is better with the kids already on campus plus some outstanding recruits if we can get them.

Can you believe only 4 completed passes in one FB game to the WR's? 9 for 30 overall! That has to be a record going all the way back to Knute Rockne for a college FB game low. I think the refs missed a few calls today, but you have to play thru that and have some way to move the ball. I am still pretty proud of this team for hanging in there in several games where the offense was just overmatched. Moral victories need to turn in to real ones soon though.

Anybody know what channel ESPN 3 is on Directv?? I cannot seem to find it.

The offense missed the bus on the first trip to Idaho and has not been seen since. It is amazing how well this team has done this year with no QB's and no WR's. Muss better hit the recruiting trail unless he has some of these positions on the Redshirt list.

Is it youth or coaching or both? Muss has one more year I think and it appears if we can find a QB we may be pretty strong next year. If they play like this next year he is gone. Nice to get the TD!!!!

What talent? I do not see any talent, lots of stupid penalties and plays. Wisconsin skates much better and faster than the Sioux. Not impressed again with Hakstol's boys. What is wrong with Kristo? Not even close to last years energy.

Unfortunately/Fortunately, take your pick, NDSU vs SDSU are on FSN on Directv at 3 pm in the Twin cities. Would rather watch UND vs UM.

Might have been a lot more bitching from a 380 mile bus ride in a blizzard from GF to Vermillion or vice versa. Vermillion is not exactly close to anything for easy travel west either. Actually the best travel partner for UND would be NDSU or even Minnesota (oh my god, would they be competitive in the BSC?)

Pretty broad statement. This whining about the refs every week is getting really old, it makes us sound like little league kids. You cannot do anything about it so why get so worked up all the time. How about focussing on how many misplayed passes the Sioux have on every rush or how many times they shoot into the goalie's gut instead of hitting the corners. Shot performance is terrible as can be shown by the shots taken every game vs the scoring the last few years. With all the serious injuries the last few years the game is changing, more finesse and less brute force. When Hakstol learns that and the team focusses on playmaking instead of dump, chase and grind they will get a better result. BC has not kicked our butt the last few years for nothing. Learn from it.

I agree. Been watching Sioux hockey since I was a kid in the 1950's in GF. I am a Sioux diehard, but it really irritates me when the fans don't give credit where credit is due. Sandelin has put together a very good team. I wish the Sioux had some of their younger players. UMD played very well Saturday night and will be in the top 3 in the league barring injuries etc. The Sioux should worry about their own performance i.e. the lack of scoring goals year in and year out and their consistently poor passing. It is way too early in the season to make any generalizations about teams. Let's get off the refs and focus on hockey skillsets and maybe that elusive 8th banner will be ours.

Yes he did, but he had a tremendous talent at QB running that offense too. Obviously the Sioux need to recruit better and hopefully with the BSC as a carrot they can entice some kids to play here that otherwise would not consider it.

I just hope the team that played at NIU and Cal Poly shows up and not the team that played UCD, USD, SUU, and Idaho. What a Jekyll and Hyde group! Any word on TV coverage in the Twin Cities?

I know how you feel. This was a very frustratiing performance, but (and I am not normally an optimist), I saw some things out there that indicate some hope. The soph QB looked OK for his first game, he brought some excitement and some tools. A couple of breaks going the Sioux way and this game is very close at the end, maybe winnable. The thing that killed us was the same problem most of the year, the opponent passing game downfield. Now I am far from a FB expert so I am not sure what the real problem is, but I question the 3-4 defense in getting enough pass rush and we obviously do not have the talent in the secondary yet to matchup against D1 receivers. I would not throw anyone under the bus until we see how this next recruiting class looks. One thing I am not impressed with is Muss's interviews. He is too quick to make excuses and shows too much emotion if things did not go his way. The kids read that. He needs to be more intimidating and less open with his emotions. I give him one more year to see what he can do. This level of FB is certainly winnable at UND. It ain't BCS, but like any level, mistakes and lack of effort will lose you FB games.

Remember that SD has no state income tax and little or no oil income so the complexion of the financial situation is entirely different. Not sure how they fund anything there. They do keep getting businesses to move there amazingly. Taxes (lack of) are probably the big draw.

Right!!! And Guess who is on Directv regionally and nationally tonite and tomorrow on channels 617 and 623? UND hockey tonite and UND FB Tomorrow. Anyone in Minn or Wisc with Directv can watch the Sioux play if they wish. Exposure baby!

As I recall, UW Badgers will host the Coyotes next fall in FB. I do not think the result will be similar to the win at Minnesota this year. I do not endorse never playing USD again, but I sure as heck would not go to them looking for a game. If they want to come to GF fine, but treat them like your ex wife, respectful and distant.
