  1. By the 2012 season I will be medicare eligible. How long do you think I want to wait to see this program play against decent teams. How many folks will come to an indoor game against a team that is 1-21 the last two seasons and averaged 9 pts per game this last fall against other non schollie schools? Come on, play a reduced schedule if necessary, but do not play down to this level of competition even if it is FCS. Stage a scrimmage or play U of Mary if necessary, it would be a bigger draw.
  2. Yeah right! Valpo has won one game in the last two years. This year they were 0-11 and lost by an avg score of like 45 - 9. WIU beat them 45-0. God I would really like to buy tix to a game against them! I can hardly wait. If UND schedules them I will puke.
  3. No, but playing Valpo would not improve the program either.
  4. This is probably a true statement. Taylor's ego and his future aspirations could not handle a possible loss to UND in FB and..... because he is in the drivers seat, having a 5 year head start he can pretty much dictate the terms for now. Will the worm turn someday? Stay tuned.............!
  5. God, I hope this is not true. Playing Valpo is worse than a team scrimmage. They have no scholarships and you know how well the rest of the scholarship teams in Indiana fare. As I recall NDSU played them in one of their first transition years and beat them by a huge margin. Bring on Winona!
  6. The Sioux also only got into Rabbit territory 4 times twice just inside the 50 and twice just inside the 40. Closest they got to the endzone was the Rabbit 38 or 39. Not even close enough to try a FG. Totally inept offensive play. BUT, that is the way the season started at Idaho and it continued for most of the season except for about 6 plays where Landry was able to connect with Hardin. Other than those 6 plays the offensive play was nonexistent. Looking at the roster there are 33 true freshman and another 20+ redshirts. From those numbers there must be some hope and talent. If not, kiss the next 3 years goodbye.
  7. If this is true, the schedule is complete, why not announce it? What better time than when the program needs an emotional lift and the recruiting season with HS playoffs etc. is underway. Waiting just gets into BB and Hockey seasons even further and diminishes the impact. I suspect the delay has to do with conference alignments and team obligations elsewhere and therefore still a work in progress. Hopefully it is not because no one has any matching open dates.
  8. I like ya IRA. Good points, I think. I agree that next year should be better with even average or better quality QB play. Unfortunately, and I have brought this up before, there are only 7 games on the schedule and 3 at home, one NAIA opponent. Faison better get on the phone. It is getting late.
  9. Not only backing in, but playing a team that is not ranked and probably plays in the weakest FCS conference in the country.
  10. Sorry, I phrased it wrong re the RB's, these two do have talent, but they are all they had and one or the other was beat up part of the year due to no depth or threat from the FB position and no passing threat. The TE's run like they have an anchor around them and the QB's including Landry in some of his games could not hit a pickup truck from 15 yards. I will give Muss the benefit of the doubt that with no playoff possibilities and a ad hoc conference, that recruiting was tough. With the BSC and playoff eligibility arriving in 2012 if he cannot recruit enough kids to put a competitive product on the field then find someone who can. UND has better FB facilities and a better academic situation than many FCS schools. Let's make the most of it and I like your suggestions about marketing better locally. Frankly I am getting bored by the men's hockey program. Same old, same old.
  11. If the Bison do not win by 20+ there ought to be an investigation. RM must play in the weakest of the FCS conferences in the Northeastern. Hello Montana State.
  12. It has been a long time since I was as disappointed in UND football as I was this year. I do not mean the record either. And, I do not fault the kids efforts. This team never had a chance to be successful and was never really competitive in spite of some close calls. Undermanned from day 1, they were overmatched in virtually every game. No depth and questionalbe talent at QB, WR, RB, TE and maybe a few other positions sealed their fate. Perhaps the lack of a playoff oppty or a really solid conference situation detracted from recruiting enough D1 level players. I realize that Mussman has to stay optimistic, and I have no idea what the current redshirts can bring in the Fall, but as the crowds running away from the Alerus center attest, things better change. I am tired of the postgame excuses and moral victories that Mussman offers. I do not expect 10-1 seasons, but I expect a quality product on the field and a competitive talent level for 60 minutes. We have not had that for the last 2-3 years.
  13. When, if ever have both UND and NDSU been shutout on the same day? Before today that is!!!!
  14. Could be much worse. UND offense is stuck in the bus.
  15. Not only that, but WIU is hammering UNI. If the Bison lose and WIU wins big, does that keep the Bison out of the playoffs?
  16. Any pride on this team anywhere? The O line and D line look like a chorus line. Faison has a major decision to make after this heartless effort.
  17. Go to Sioux website and register for the webcast. It will cost you and the way they are playing you may not want to watch.
  18. Video is ok on mine, but no sound and 2/3 of the feed is $%^&*( commercials!!! Sious really suck today though, so I may not watch much longer.
  19. Hey, I am a Sioux fan and I agree with TJ. I care, I care not so much because I wish the Bison well, but because their success gives the Sioux something to compare to and to strive for. UND has improved their programs partly as a result of raising their level of play to compete with the Bison at least in the media. NDSU's success in FB and WBB in DII I think made UND improve their programs. I expect the same now that the Bison have moved up and had modest success in D1. UND will improve to hopefully match or maybe exceed the success the Bison have had in MBB, FB, and other sports. I was against the move to D1 originally, but now that we have made that choice let both schools be the best that they can be and healthy competition is good for both.
  20. by mksioux on the 19th "You may want to check your math. If only it were that simple. A new football stadium is going to take a major donor to spearhead the project and put up millions of real and current dollars. By all accounts, an indoor practice facility is the top priority for the athletic department and the only athletic project even discussed in the Ignite the Spirit campaign. I
  21. I think the team that is arriving is Brooks Bollinger's UFL team from Florida now run by Theismann. Brooks may be hurt though, as I think the other QB played the last game. Brooks has been a star in that league.
  22. The University of Dayton has such a system. Their MBB program is top notch and they have limited seats so the students have to go to other games i.e. SB, VB, WBB, etc and get points toward seating at the MBB games. If you do not have enough points, you do not get tickets to the mens BB games. Makes it kind of interesting.
  23. Agreed. I for one would like to see some concrete info be forthcoming on this subject. Maybe now with the conference issue resolved UND can move forward. I also think that it would not have to be funded only by one donor. I for one would be willing to step up my giving for an extended period if something firm came together. For example, and I apologize to anyone who really cannot afford it: Over a 10 year period 500 annual gifts of $1000 each would generate $50,000,000. For this type of future program combined with a major donor, could it fly, would it be enough? I think so, but this would be on top of current giving so maybe not. I thought this was the announcement at Homecoming. Maybe this is too ambitious, but I hope someone on campus is thinking like this. I am not getting any younger. Am I nuts?
