Hey he’s 6’11”! Also, we lose T so really would just have Mathews and Erikson. Not saying those are great options but we need to find one. Maybe Hurlburt is just at a level too high?
-
I said to my buddy today that Hurlburt will be with UND next year.
-
Do you think we have enough bigs next year? Really down to Amar, Mathews, Erikson and Bothun, right?
-
I think we are better than last year, now that isn’t saying much but I do. What happened to Omot in the second half? First half is exactly what I was hoping to see out of him and then he vanished. Opposite from Eaglesfaff. I knew we would be a poor shooting team, as did most, but I really thought our defense would be good. Doesn’t seem to be the case. Idk what to think anymore.

Holy !@#$ I don’t know if I’ve ever hated an opposing player more the #2 for Portland. Makes a 3 and a kiss to the crowd.
-
I want the King from last week.
-
I29’s closed and the weather is crap so guessing a light crowd today. Sounds like for those at home won’t have the usual broadcast crew either on Midco.
-
Yeah I was surprised to see that before either ND school offered.
-
Well NDSU wins 78-67.

Watching Portland play against NDSU, they look like they’ll be tough. Robertson is going to be a lot to handle, big, good scorer and very good passer. Harris also looks tough. They also have a big man (he’s not huge, skinny and 6’9” or so) giving NDSU some fits.

Ely’s is overrated, in my opinion.

UND (KP 263) looks to regroup with a home game against WCC member, Portland (KP 221). Last year’s matchup in Portland UND lost 69-90. Looks like senior, Tyler Robertson, leads the way for Portland in scoring averaging 17ppg, 5.2apg and 3.7 boards. He’s 6’6” and listed as a G/F. Behind him is 6’8” freshman, Tyler Harris, averaging 14.2ppg, 9 boards and 1.5 bpg. I don’t really know much about Portland besides looking at stats but they play NDSU tonight and KenPom predicts NDSU to win 78-75. I will be watching. KenPom also predicts UND to win but by a closer margin of 75-74. Get out to the Betty and support the guys. Some fun players to watch and a good non-con opponent.

One name I find interesting for a possible target in this class is Gavin Camp, WR from Normal, IL. He’s currently committed to Illinois State but Danny followed him recently. Believe he’s the brother of former USD and current Sac St QB, Carson Camp.

One way I would look at scheduling if I’m the AD is looking at combining basketball and hockey. Schedule something with some of those hockey east schools with similar level basketball programs like Merrimack, UMass Lowell, Dartmouth, heck bring in Miami but have these games overlap with a hockey weekend against the same school.

So I’m not a firm believer in building through the portal but I’m going to guess this year we see heavy action, especially on the defensive side. I’m sure Bubba and co. aren’t feeling amazing about their job security beyond next year so they need to make a dramatic push and as far as I know, we don’t have the bodies on the defense already here to rebuild that.

Sucks, that guys poured a lot of his heart and soul into this team. Hope for a speedy recovery for him. It does offer more minutes for others though and I am excited to see more Mara.
-
Watching the NDSU-SJSU game and Damari Wheeler Thomas is fun. Could use a guy like him this year.
-
And shoot just over 50% from the line.
-
The one thing about this team is they don’t quit. I have a lot that I wish was different but it is nice to say that.
-
I know you’re not going to get everyone’s best every game but just seems like we have yet to see 2 of 3 of King, BJ and Trey have good games.
-
Did Mara play in the first? Wasn’t able to catch the first half. Hoping to start seeing more and more of him. If Brady’s hurt, I’d think that happens.

I am generally an optimist with UND sports but these last two games are far more telling than the previous 6. I knew shooting was going to be a problem coming into the year but I chose to have faith in someone stepping up. I knew if Ihenacho didn’t gain eligibility max we’d be missing a PG but also had faith King could handle it.
