  1. I failed many a Friday morning quiz due to Grain Belt "Premo" nights on Thursdays.
  2. Wonder if they'll look at an FBS or Juco transfer??? The depth is awfully young after Sutton.
  3. Sure takes a position w/ good talent & makes it pretty thin in a hurry. Sutton, Miller obviously will handle the load. & hopefully Breon Bulter or another younger guy is ready to step up. Was it an academic problem again or something else??? It sucks to see talented players leave due to issues like this (Bamba, Chappell, Murray, etc) but gotta respect the coaching staff for keeping a short-leash on them & make every effort to run a clean program. It's a privilege to play Fighting Sioux football, not a right.
  4. Ha. Ever been to Camp Randall or Madison on game day??? Sorry, but there might not be a fan-base in the country that can out-drink the Badger fans on a Saturday afternoon. You'll love trying though! It's an awesome experience, enjoy the game. I'd take Bielema hangin' 70 on us just to go there again. If you haven't noticed he's not shy about running it up, whether it's a Big Ten team or Austin Peay. So, good luck.
  5. I believe all Big Sky schools travel to one Montana school & host the other Montana school each season. There is no travel to both in one season.
  6. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/190638/ Sanity prevails... The bill has been voted down.
  7. I'm sure that there will probably be more of the local on-air personalities & others leaving KVLY in the future. Alot of the "locals" have been very unhappy since Hoak Media out of Dallas has taken over. I have a close source that worked there up until this winter that said morale is very low at KVLY. The reason this person left was specifically because of the management style of Hoak. Hoak basically ran Charlie Johnson outta town, fired Michelle Turnberg, has watched others leave & destoryed the overall company morale. Ol' Hammer might not be stepping into the best situation.
  8. The QB situation for the next 2 seasons definitely worries me. A Juco or even FBS transfer is always a crapshoot. Some are successful, some are not. Many times they don't work out. Are we better off taking our lumps w/ Demler or Comes starting next year to get one of them ready for Big Sky play in 2012? Or is Mussman coaching to keep his job next year & thus going the transfer route? If the staff feels one of Demler or Comes is the real deal, then I'm fine with one of them getting experience next year rather than a 2 year band-aid. That might be the best option for the program in the long run, but I guess it's not my job at stake.
  9. Mussman says "we were inept on offense" Really??? Also, mentioned bringing in a QB at semester break.
  10. Well, I guess a 3-win team w/ nothing to play for, no offense & terrible QB play, not to mention getting blown out doesn't really excite alot of people. I'm dumb enough to still follow though
  11. oh, espn keeps saying it's 3-0 w/ 9:28 left. Must not have updated for awhile.
  12. I'm not sure free is a good price to watch the rest of this. Very disappointing as I thought they could keep this game somewhat respectable.
  13. If you look at our Big 10 neighbors to the East, one could argue that hockey is also the most "popular" sport at Minnesota. Definitely has the most passionate fan base there. No, they don't outdraw attendance at Gopher football games. But, with the apathy surrounding the Gopher football program & even basketball over the past years, I'd say Minnesota Men's Hockey has a much more loyal, passionate, dedicated fan base over any other sport on their campus. As for ND, the Bisen fans will argue about their football attendance, etc. A decent opponent at the beginning of the season will get them 18-19,000 in the stands. However their attendance seems to drop as the season goes on. UND home hockey games always seem to be at or near capacity. But, it's tough to compare 18-20 home hockey games vs. 5-6 home football games a year, apples to oranges I guess. The state of ND could be considered a toss up. UND may have a slight edge in that it's the only hockey program to cheer for. But midwest region or nationwide, Sioux hockey has much larger following. If you're talking history, tradition & success... Sioux hockey hands down.
  14. Huskie's Fate Ouch. Possibly booted from the NSIC but I guess they are good enough for the Summit to look at. Not to rip on SCSU cause it's a shame to see a 90yr old program cut at any University. Alot of the comments on the StarTrib seem to blame their AD. I hope they can keep their football program. The results of the vote should be in tonight. Just find it amusing that the Summit is looking at possible NSIC cast-offs.
  15. Wow, the Chicago Tribune & USA Today... this must be the national exposure they always brag about!!!
  16. Westside

    Jacks game

Anyone know if the game is televised on Mid-Continent or Directv?
  17. I believe they are talking about Kalen DeBoer???
  18. NDSU played at Oregon??? Isn't that too far for you guys to travel??? Seriously though, Oregon is a nice tune-up for your upcoming contests against Mayville & Valley City.
  19. I agree with this^^^^ I started really following UND sports in 1993 when I was a freshman on campus. It's occurred to me that I don't think we've had a coach of the 4 major sports (Hockey, FB, MBB & WBB) get fired in that time period. I guess Women's Hockey could be added to the major sports list now, but that came around after I graduated so I haven't really followed it too much. Anyways, Hockey has had Gino, Blais & Hak (Maybe Gino was fired, I can't remember if he was or he just bowed out gracefully, either way it was his time to go). WBB Roebuck, MBB Glas & Jones, Football Thomas, Lennon & Muss. Granted all the programs had a tremendous amount of success over most of those years, so a firing wouldn't have been deserved, but it just seems like UND hasn't been a school that was quick to terminate coaches. Gino, Roebuck & Glas had been around forever, even Thomas started in the mid 80's. So for the last 25 to 30-some years UND has only had 9 coaches in it's 4 major sports. That's a pretty good run. Maybe it's a "North Dakota nice" thing or the D2 mentality for many of those years. Maybe those attitudes will change with new leadership at AD & a D1 mentality. If Brian Jones is still employed at the University of North Dakota there is no reason that Mussman shouldn't be. With that said, I do believe Mussman deserves at least one more year. He came into an unenviable situation, being Lennon left late, bad conference & scheduling situation & the team was just starting the D1 transition. Now, Mussman finally has better pieces in place... a solid conference affiliation, playoff eligible in 2012, and most importantly, a few years worth of D1 recruits in his program. Let's see what he can do with it. Is Mussman the right coach to lead UND football into the Big Sky & playoff-eligibility? That remains to be seen. But he is definitely deserving of the opportunity to prove that he is.
  20. I wouldn't put too much stock into a beat writer that doesn't even know the difference between the Great West Conference & the Big West Conference.
