  1. 245 votes on this thread. Pretty interested to see how accurate this is in comparison to the actual vote. Are 245 votes representative enough of the number of people that will actually be voting, and how much will that alter the outcome. I think the general concesnsus is that SunDogs is out. NoDaks seems to have picked up some momentum recently though. Though I would hope they would go Fighting NoDaks.
  2. Doesn't matter what we pick, they will come up with something terrible.
  3. Is the door still open for Cakebread? I don't know if I really ever see him coming to UND.
  4. This is a big game for UND. Move to 3-1, or drop to 2-2, heading on the road to Portland state. Win, build confidence, and momentum or lose and things could start spiraling down quickly. This is a team that hasn't seen a winning record in quite a while, and they have a real opportunity to build that record up nicely over the coming weeks. UC Davis, @Portland St, Idaho St, @Weber I wouldn't call any of the teams the cream of the crop. This isn't MT, MT ST, NDSU, etc. These are the kind of games that UND needs to beat to develop and move forward. Road games are never easy, but these are winnable games. I think the next 4 games will really tell us where this team is. Playoffs or not? A nice opportunity in this schedule to really develop our team, and learn from mistakes before heading into the toughest part of the schedule.
  5. Could not agree more with this. When you have speedsters, you need to get them the ball in space. Santiago isn't going to run guys over, but he can make guys miss once he gets going. Not sure about Smith yet, he has more size, but not a dominant, run you over, type of size. I'd like to see him run some of those wheel routes like the Bison did. Smith could be a nice RB/WR hyrbid. Oliveira has the size and power to run up the gut, a little more time and confidence, and he could be a nice powerful back. Bottom line, they need to get creative to get these guys the ball. Make a statement on the ground and open things up over the top. Studrud isn't a QB that will win us alot of games, but he needs to be in a position where he can't lose games either. We're probably not a team that is going to come back from down 3 TDs with a lot of passing.
  6. My Top Two - I am actually leaning towards Nodaks, but I don't think it will gain enough votes to win. I do think if there was a potential logo to go with any of these name, it could shake up the current voting. The image can really sell. Roughriders - Unique, and there would be some cool stuff you could do with the logo and mascot. Nodaks - Seem like the next best option for anyone who just wanted North Dakota. Seems like this name is gaining momentum, certainly within some of the recent media. Sounds like this is the one Dean Blais was picking. I also though it was cool that this was widely used years ago, and used to be on the jersey for some sports. (I can see NODAKS written diagonal down a hockey jersey, not too bad. I just don't have much interest in the rest. Fighting Hawks - It would work, but its just so generic. Nothing unique, just boring. Sundogs - I think the jury is out, this name sucks. North Stars - Pretty cool name .... for a MN hockey team. Go Sioux!
  7. Agreed, winning solves problems. Make a nice run here, maybe win a game or two we should and fans will get into. Get this team back to the postseason and the fans will start showing up. When I was a freshman in '03 the Alerus was pretty packed. A lot of students would leave at half time, but it was usually because we were up by so much. Hopefully we continue to move forward with this program. Drake may have been deflating, and the Bison game was disappointing, but we are still 2-1 heading into conference play.
  8. I know Santiago is in as the starter, but I really want to see them get Smith involved. I think they should use him similar to what you see NDSU to with Morlock and the passing game. He has the speed, and more size to him than Santiago. Now that the red shirt is off, they need to get him the ball. Hope to see a heavy dose of him this weekend.
  9. Did I miss something on Tomek? What's the injury situation?
  10. Well they better get creative. We have pulled the redshirt on 3 freshman RB. I was surprised to see them pull Smiths redshirt to only give him two carries on Saturday. Grant, we never really had possession, so hopefully we see more of him this weekend. Wish the game was on Fox College Sports.
  11. agreed, we have to establish the run early. We can't expect Studrud to make all sorts of perfect passes, he just isn't there yet. Run the ball, run effectively, and open up the field for some play action.
  12. no credibility, but I saw something about shoplifting at scheels. Again, just something someone wrote, could be a rumor, could be true. Either way, he did something to warrant getting kicked off the team. First a suspension then this? You have an opportunity many don't get, and you keep blowing your chances ... I dkbt have much patience for that. Pretty poor to let your teammates down too. Bring up the next guy.
  13. Whether they want to go back to Studrud or not, he has not business out there right now. O Line isn't helping, but lets change things up now, not wait until the 4th.
  14. You are correct. Unfortunately, it could still get out of had for us, unless our O can sustaing a drive and give these guys some rest.
  15. Wentz is just so good. Great vision, great arm, quick release. Wow.
  16. Maybe it is men against boys, but that is where and OC is supposed to change the game plan to capitalize. Their O was supposed to be this good, Their D was not. Get ready to see more of this, because if we can't make adjustments against the Bison, just imagine MT.
  17. Running with a min left and down 21? Running with 30 left and down 21? Running?
