  1. ^This
  2. Denver will be tough, especially since they don't have to travel all the way east. UND vs Denver, and Boston College vs Mass Lowell ...... who could I have possibly picked as champions ...... this is subject to change before tomorrow
  3. Right, and I don't think they have many of them, but still ... I'm a creature of habit. Grew up in Mpls and watched the Goofs every Friday and Saturday. Transitioned seamlessly into a much better market when I moved to Grand Forks, and I love watching my Sioux play on Friday and Saturday night. Especially having kids, I'm not out running around the town on weekends. I like to get them to bed, and enjoy my hockey time.
  4. I wonder if UND would see more TV options open up with the Big10. Obviously the Big Ten Network, and NBC Sports as mentioned above, but possible more on FSN North? Or re-establishing the Fox College Sports setup that we had a few years ago? I don't hate the idea of the Big 10, as we would get Wisco, MN, and Michigan on a regular basis. Ohio St and Penn St really do nothing for me. I do hate the idea of potential Thursday, or even Sunday games.
  5. To strengthen your point, the guys on KFAN, in minneapolis, were talking college hockey last weekend, and basically said the NCHC tourney would be the same as the Big 10, if North Dakota did not make it to the Target Center. Big picture, college hockey is a smaller sport. But within the college hockey community, North Dakota and its fan base is a hot commodity.
  6. Well a giant thanks to Brad Schlossman for the article on the 10 year anniversary of the Holy Cross win over the Gophers. Not only did I watch the clip posted with his article, but I somehow ended up on Youtube, watching a ton of old Sioux highlights from Oshie's sweet toe drag against the gophers to Frattin's giant charge, to some sick goals by Caggiula, to the Radke/Vossberg fight, and then to The Water Bottle Incident. Not the most productive start to my work day, but I am absolutely jacked for tomorrow's game!
  7. Agreed, you can't pick you whole schedule, kids have to play regardless of whether they are tough opponents. We had a few people on here saying we can't finish our regular season with cream puffs and expect to be competitive with better teams in the NCHC and Nat'l tourneys. Truth is, you have to play your schedule and play it strong regardless of whom is on it.
  8. Just not Fighting Hawks
  9. Just to make my own personal case ..... I have been a hardcore Sioux fan since 2003 when I first got to UND. Prior to that I grew up a Gopher fan (It was a fairly dark place in my like that I prefer not to think about ) So despite all of UND's Championship banners, I have been doomed to 12 years of playoff disappointment. -Losing to Denver in'03 and again in '04; the year of the all-WCHA frozen four -More early exits to BC that I prefer to think about. ('06, '07, '08) -Strange early exits to New Hampshire ('09) and Yale('10). (Also lost to Yale in '13, though they won it all that year) -Sean Hunwick vs. The Pony Express (winner Hunwick) (in '11) -Gopher ('12) .... at least they didn't win it all -Bounced by the Goofers with .6 seconds left in the game. ('14) -Zano Insano vs Eichel and Company ('15) I'm getting very tired of these playoff losses, often in epic fashion. Time to win one! C'mon Hockey Gods, time to play fair!! Go Sioux!
  10. Coach Bombay: I go in, I triple deke. I fake the goalie right out of his pads. The puck's headed in, and then, Clang! Hits the post.We lost in overtime.A quarter of an inch this way and it would have gone in.A quarter of an inch, Charlie.Charlie: Yeah, but a quarter inch the other way and you'd have missed completely. HEY CHARLIE, ON THE SCOREBOARD, HITTING A PIPE IS THE SAME AS MISSING COMPLETELY!!!! Kid should have been benched for saying that one.
  11. Thanks for stopping by; hoping for a very entertaining game on Friday. Definitely a cool story to make the run that NU has made after that start. Shows what coaching and talent can do when it all comes together.
  12. Haha, yikes, that could be a big bill
  13. Huge shout out to all of the folks that run and support Siouxsports.com. I just tried going over to the Northeastern Hockey Forum website, and was able to sign up for a free account, but could not access any message boards, articles, etc. unless I signed up for a $15-$30 annual pass. Appreciate all you guys do to keep this thing running for the fans!
  14. Gotcha. I couldn't remember what the comparison was. Just not used to hearing those names together. LJ is solid, but it would be great to see him play more consistently. I have noticed he has better puck Control than last year. He whiffed on way too many shots last season. I decided to pick up tickets for the game today, so hopefully we take it to denver. Would also like to see Duluth beat up on the clowns tonight. May need that if we are going to be in St paul next weekend. Go Sioux!
  15. Pretty much my exact face from yesterday when he said that.
  16. Yes, Starman actually made a really weird comparison between Luke Johnson and Zach Parise. Yep, he really did that.
  17. Time to stop playing Hawk hockey and get back to Fighting Sioux Hockey
  18. Why? Just disappointed because I was looking forward to finally watching my team in person for the first time in a long time. Unfortunately tickets are expensive, so I won't be using that money in a third place afternoon game. Just a bummer they lost and a bummer they killed my Saturday night plans.
  19. I could not be more pissed right now. I haven't had a chance to watch this team live in like 7 or 8 year, and was really pumped to buy tickets to a championship game tomorrow night. Not wasting money on a worthless third place game. I guess we will see if the Sioux land in St Paul next weekend, maybe I'll finally get back to a game.
  20. Officials did not cost us the game, but wow were they terrible. Been a while since I've seen a game that one sided.
  21. We will be ok, as long as we play better than tonight. Limited offensive plays. Too many defensive breakdowns. 1 or 2 softies by Cam. They haven't played many bad games this year, but this was piss poor. Boys better wake the hell up before next weekend. Stecher was the only one playing like he really wanted it out there. Was Caggiula even on the ice; barely heard his name or noticed him. Very disappointing, not just to lose, but to play like that.
  22. It's never better to lose
  23. What a piss poor performance
