  1. Not sure anyone is really getting worked up. The article is pretty funny though.
  2. They had some good years in the CCHA, and were ranked fair high, even in those days. We just didn't play them all that much until the NCHC days. They came to the Ralph in 2009 for the Subway Holiday Classic ranked #1, lost to #6 Bemidji, and tied with #4 UND. (Thats a heck of a tourney)
  3. Wow, I don't know who I blame more for that piece of trash, the author, or the editor. Credit where credit is due, Miami has had some solid years (when they were in the CCHA), but they have been completely inconsistent ever since. I think they had 1 nice year in the NCHC. I don't mind Blasi as a coach, but they are by no means a dynasty type program. Not saying they can never get there, but the writer even states it (No Nat'l Championships). Meanwhile you have UND, Michigan, Denver, Minnesota, BU, BC etc. Who have far more history and can be considered more of a dynasty status. Loved watching us beat them in 2014 ... 9-2!!! That was a fun one. I believe they had been ranked #1 earlier in the year too.
  4. Based on what I've seen from this team, they SHOULD win. That being said, I could see them winning by 20 or losing by 20. Unless we start seeing consistency over the next few weeks, it could be another up and down season. Took a nice step this past weekend, just hope we see more of that and less of the team that played against NAU.
  5. I was talking about O-Line recruits that had committed, not current players...kids that are still in HS. I know there was an O-Line that had been recruited to the Gophers, who Fleck decided he didn't want. Kid was pretty upset, because Fleck didn't call him to tell him they were retracting his offer, some recruiting assistant told him. Given how late it is in the recruiting process, the kid certainly has reason to be upset, never know what else he may have passed up to take the initial Gopher offer. I agree, I would question the integrity or character of some of the Gopher players (on a case by case basis), but not a kid that was recruited and caught the bad end of a coaching change. http://247sports.com/Player/Jimmie-Terry-23713 https://www.landof10.com/minnesota/minnesota-doesnt-want-2017-ol-jimmie-terry-two-recruits-decommit-gophers
  6. Would love to see us pick up another one though. Stars are just projections of potential until the kid proves himself at the next level, but I'll take as many good projections as I can get. I'm pretty sure MT just picked up a 3 start recruit yesterday, over 2 or 3 FBS offers. Who knows, maybe there is still hope for Flowers (probably wishful thinking) but is listed as 3 star on the Wiki
  7. Still waiting for some more OL guys. Really hope we hear something soon. With Rousenmiller only having an offer from us and a PWO from the Goofs, I was hoping he would having committed. I wonder if he will be visiting soon, and we may hear something the. I also wonder if the coaches have reached out to any of the recruits the gophers have recently let go. I know there was a big OL who's offer was pulled last weekend.
  8. I see the Gophers have Jake Boltmann listed as a commit out of Edina. Is that Brock's younger brother?
  9. I was just about to make the same comment about the Duluth series. that was some of the worst hockey I've ever seen. I seriously considered turning the games off, not because they were losing, or even because the commentators were so horrific, but it was just plain boring to watch. As has been pointed out, UND is on a solid run of hockey as of late, but with how inconsistent play was early in the season (even in a few series that we won) I think the next two weekends will speak volumes about where this team is going, and how they have developed since the beginning of the season. Consistency is key, and playing a full 60. I really liked what I saw on Saturday, when UNO scored early. The team didn't settle back and start playing defensively, they stuck with their game plan, attacked, and bounced back. I'd like to see a sweep against Miami. I'd love a sweep against Duluth, but would prefer a series win, with solid consistent play. Do that and we are primed for a serious run at 9. Really like the play we got from splitting Boeser and Jost; it'll be interesting to see if we do that again.
  10. Anything less than a sweep is unacceptable
  11. Was he planning to visit UND? Too bad, like you said, need some of these OL to commit.
  12. Hey now, go easy on Meryl Streep. She is a very oppressed famous millionaire. It was extremely courageous of her to get up in front of all those other oppressed millionaires, and preach about about how hard they all have it.
  13. I always enjoy beating Michigan in the playoffs. Not sure why, as there isn't a ton of bad blood due to lack of games, but it is definitely fun to beat those guys. '06 game in GF was fun to watch (Not to mentions HC beating the Goofs) BUT '11 still stings, and will sting for quite a while. Winning #8 helped, but 2011 was one of the best squads I've seen.
  14. I guess. It looks like they recently did a home and home with BU, so not sure why they wouldn't consider UND.
  15. Is there a reason we never schedule Michigan for non-conference games? Seems like we should have some home and home series, or even a MSG style game from time to time. Typically, both are strong teams. Historic programs. Solid fanbases. Had quite a few postseason games.
  16. Never know what a kid wants to do. Some kids like playing college hockey, they like being in college, but they don't particularly like class or homework. No clue how that applies to Gersich, just saying it is a factor for some kids. Really hoping Shane sticks it out for the full 4, because he could be a dominant player by the time he is a senior.
  17. Combo of good guys getting healthy, and young players figuring out the game at this level. Obviously, winning out is unrealistic, BUT if they can play like that consistently, we will absolutely be back in Chicago. Big question for me is how do we respond over the next two weekends. Home games against Miami and Duluth. Winning would be great, but the more important questions is "how do we play?" We swept some series to start the season where we didn't look particularly sharp, whereas we swept Omaha and looked elite on all levels. Can't just squeeze past some of these opponents, but need to play at a dominant level (not necessarily putting up 8 goals a game), but playing sharp and a full 60. No doubt that this weekend should really energize the fans. Lets sweep the home stand!
  18. I know, just had to poke a little fun. Hopefully they can figure it out, because they have had a rough go with the second half collapses. They have the talent, but need to put it all together.
  19. Hmm, what does Union and Omaha have in common? Too bad we could sweep the article with a series against Mich Tech. Really hope the play we saw this weekend is and indicator of things to come. UND didn't just score a lot of goals, the team played 2 full games, and passed the eye test. Shooting, passing, skating ... everything looked in top notch form. Hope we can carry it into next weekend against Miami.
  20. Don't look to much into UND joining the WAC, it wouldn't be for long anyway. The WAC is just the route UND will be taking to get into the BIG 10, and after dominating there ... the SEC.
  21. To be fair, I don't think he every gave a specific year. So the the announcement could still be on home coming ... 2017 .... 2018 ..... 2050
  22. Haha, Can't wait! Seriously though, how cool would that be
