  1. Agreed, I'm not sure why playing for the Green and Gold would make any difference, but regardless, Go Artichokes! Leaves Up!
  2. It also looks like all 3 have offers from UNI now, and SDSU. So you're probably right that they will go somewhere else, just strange that they all have offers, but have not committed yet.
  3. I know, I've already heard that on here, which is why I hope the coaches continue to push for him and stay in contact. At some point it may come down to the kid either picking a school, or not playing. When that time comes, I hope UND is the school that has stayed in contact with the kid. Yes, if he continues to want to play with his HS buds, then by all means, move on from him, but until that time that he says absolutely not to UND, there is still potential there. That being said, all three appear to have now receive offers from Wyoming, but we still haven't heard any commitments. Not sure if those are all scholarship offers or not, but you have to wonder what kind of guidance these kids are getting (if any) from parents/coaches. Seems pretty strange to me.
  4. Not sure if it was already posted here, but SFI is reporting that Seguin (mentioned in the below article when he committed) does not appear to be in UNDs plans anymore. Sounds like he was supposed to sign over Christmas but did not. Disappointing, because he looked like a pretty good athlete. Seems to be a pattern of not being able to retain some of these Canadian commitments. If we have really lost Seguin, I hope the coaches continue pushing for Mafe. I guess we'll see. http://herosports.com/news/north-dakota-recruiting-adds-next-stars-fcs-college-football
  5. But it only works if you drive around in a horse and buggy and churn some butter before the game starts.
  6. Heck of a night for sports. In other news, my wife had to leave the room with a sports overload. UND beat NAU - Ugly game, but I'll take the win. MN beat NW - Not sure how this team has turned it around so much from last season, but Gopher basketball has been fun to watch. USA beat Canada - Now I can go back to being comfortable with cheering for Jost and cheering against Terry. Wild beat Sharks - Almost turned this off several times as it got late. Glad I watched til the end though. Crazy effort by the Wild. Love the mentality this year that they are never out of a game. Definitely a resilient bunch. Koivu looked great, and the pass he got from Granlund on one of the late goals was great vision on the pass follow by a terrific finish on the shot. Time to keep rolling into this weekend and sweeps the Red Cows. Added bonus if we shut out Ortega, or lay a big time hit on him.
  7. He certainly reminds you of Brew with that loud instensity, but he at least comes in with some experience of taking a program from bad to good, so I guess we'll see.
  8. Assuming that Clive won't be getting another year, but since the NCAA makes the decision, and does nothing consistently, I guess we'll wait and see.
  9. Sounds like he is pretty active in improving gameday experience, and really getting the fans into the game. It'll be interesting to see what he can do at MN. Hopefully he can get it done, and take them to the next level. Having watch the Gopher (or most MN teams over the years) its hard to be overly optimistic, but definitely looking forward to see what he can do.
  10. As is typical with kids (not all kids), they talk big until they actually have to put their money (or in this case, scholarships) where their mouths are. Their may be a few defections, but overall, I'm sure they will be fine. Definitely, wish PJ and Gopher football the best. I grew up a big Gopher fans, and while I absolutely cannot despise the hockey team, I do enjoy watching football and basketball (sweet win over NW last night!). Definitely tired of this revolving door of coaches and really tired of the "off the field" antics. Hope PJ can get this program rolling. Kill and Claeys put together some solid (not great, but solid) season, but I'd like to see this team get to the next level.
  11. Yeah, SFI confirmed PWO this morning.
  12. Once Fleck lost a big game to Wisconsin, he was immediately eligible to be a coach for the Gophers.
  13. Ill take the win, but that was hideous. Should have been up by 20 at half if our guys would finish their shots. Drick has looked careless with the ball. Shanks hook shot is more of a fastball. Collins has taken some really stupid foulds. Even Crandall had some pretty ugly layup attempts. Avants is a stud. Hooker finished the game nicely, but his shot has been off lately. I like they fast tempo game, but when the shot aren't falling they need to slow it down and stop forcing terrible shots/passes. Good news is UND absolutely has talent to win and beat good teams. Bad news they haven't played up to their talent level yet and have looked inconsistent. Hope they can keep getting some W's until they find their rhythm.
  14. Gophers had the talent to be a better team than they were this year. This whole recent debacle aside, Claeys just isn't a Big 10 caliber head coach. He got the position as a result of what happened with Kill. I would like to think a better coach would have beaten Oregon St and Colorado St by more than a TD at home (whatever, a win is a win), Closed out the game by Penn St, Beat Iowa at home (Both games they were in and could have won), even beat Wisconsin considering how they played the first half (Wisco made adjustment, the Gophers did not). Given the schedule, this probably should have been a 2 loss team. Coaching was part of the problem (not all). Credit where credit is due, Claeys is also responsible for a tough defense that kept some of those games close. I also don't think Leidner helped the team's case all that much. I know Gopher fans tend to love the kid, but I'm just not a fan. He is big, physical and can run ok, but I'm just not a fan of his arm or his decision making when he passes. I know some of the draft board put him in the first round (at least early this season), I just don't get it. Heck, some people compared him and Wentz, which I think is comparing apples and oranges. I doubt Mitch sniffs anything more than a 3rd string role in the NFL, but I'm no expert. Certainly wish the kid the best, I just haven't been a big fan watching him
  15. I have mediacom (Savage/Prior Lake Area) and the game looks like it will be on channel 7 or 806. Shows up as KSTC on my tv guide, but broadcasts the ASN games. Pretty sure this was the same channel the UND/BGSU football game was on for me earlier this fall. Usually get a few UND hockey games on this channel each season. The nchc.tv app works great through my roku, but there is a slight delay so I really have to avoid twitter while watching. So TV is certainly preferable.
  16. Agreed, and I obviously meant 4 year player, not 5 year player. UNLESS ... wait for it .... Gersich has a rockstar second half, the NHL decides not to allow NHL players to participate in the Olympics next year, Gersich take the season off to lead team USA to a "Miracle" Gold over a Tyson Jost led team Canada game. Then both come back the following year to lead UND to Nat'l Championship #11 (Because obviously they get #9 this year, and #10 next year). Plausible?!?!
  17. That was kind of my thinking as well. Size works against him, but he definitely has skill. I guess it just depends on if these guys want to play college or some AHL. Agreed, he should (and hopefully will) be a 4 year player. Kid could put up some monster numbers as a senior.
  18. Yeah, I was hoping Pogo would have a little more impact this year. Hopefully, he (and the rest of the boys) are prepared to step it up in the second half.
  19. I'm pretty sure I heard something on the radio that he has an ex-wife who gets a say as to where he lands; so I assume there is some sort of joint custody with kids. Have no confirmation on that, just speculation .... so a school in the upper midwest may be a good landing spot for him from that perspective.
  20. We could give him his own title: Volunteer Guru of Hockey Operations, Fundraising and Alumni Relations Might as well get Gwoz up here too: Volunteer Dasher Tester
  21. Agreed, I certainly hope he take the scholarship. We can always use more big guys.
  22. Would be cool if he came back to have some sort of association with UND Hockey, once he is done in Omaha. Not necessarily a coach, but you would have to think they could find some way of working him in at the University, that would be beneficial to the school. I guess a lot of that depends on how involved he wants to be, or how much/little he would want to work in retirement.
  23. So, it might be time to start using my college eligibility
