Oshie to the Wild next season. I'm calling it now.

I just don't get the love for Easton Stick. He is a good QB, not denying that, but top ten? Maybe I have unfair expectations after seeing Wentz play for them. I do remember some family members saying he was supposed to be a better than Wentz (this was when he was recruited and before Wentz's play really took off). Like I said, maybe the expectations are a little inflated, but I would argue that his success has also been due to all of the pieces around him. Maybe he takes another step forward this year.

I don't mind recruiting Iowa. We have found some good talent there, but overall I agree. Twin Cities should be a big focus. Lots of good talent.
-
247 shows him having an offer from Nebraska. Nothing listed about Iowa, though maybe it just isn't up to date. Obviously the kid is getting some interest. I see Travis Bledsoe sent him a pro-UND tweet. Edit: I see he received the Iowa offer on his twitter.

Anyone else know who Coe had offers from before going with Dallas?

Can't wait for Utah! We won't be the favorites, and we won't get much respect, but if this team is serious about starting to contend for a Nat'l Championship, then they need to be able to go out there and compete. Not saying that if we lose its a lost season, that would be ridiculous, but we have to compete and play like we belong. This should be UND's deepest and most talented team yet. An upset here is certainly plausible.

Fair to say the talent is absolutely there at the RB position. These guys know what to do, so the only thing the coaches need to preach, over and over and over is BALL SECURITY!!! Even a great group of RBs can be a problem without ball security. Doesn't do much good to go 90 yards and fumble in the red zone or end zone. We have seen some of these issues from time to time over the past 2 years, so I'll hope that with more experience and coaching it won't be a major factor this year.

Fargo U has done far better than us. Not a bad thing to shoot for. Hard to compliment the rival, but when it is true?

University of North Dakota Hockey 2017-18 Season

After what started out as a young, somehwhat inexperience D core this season, that looks pretty damn solid for next year. Shaw has really become a nice player, and Peski was absolutely the most improved over the course of the season. Seriously, this team looks pretty deep for next year. -

Honestly, I don't remember. I may have been one of those people. Whenever teams struggle to score, and go through a slump like we were going though in Feb, fan are going to look for someone to blame. Olson never hit the stat sheet .... to be completely fair to Olson, his game is not all about hitting the stat sheet, he does plenty of other things really well. And he really did come up big in March. Definitely some leadership qualities in the kid. I don't think there is a clear cut forward that you sit next year, which should mean (injuries aside) they have the option to rotate, go with the hot hand, and rest people. No doubt this should be a fairly deep team next year, and as fun as it is to watch a DOT or CBS line, watching 4 lines that can all be dangerous is probably more fun through the game and season. Final thought, I love my summers and I don't want to wish them away, but I'm ready for some Sioux Football and Sioux Hockey already! -

I'd guess you rotate some guys like Yon, Simo, Gornall ... and obviously there will be some injuries at some point. It is just inevitable. Not always bad to rotate some of those guys, especially some of the guys that play those grinder roles. Keeps them fresh and healthy, which will be important when they are playing in St. Paul next Spring. -
If that is the case, then good luck to him. I'd imagine he could take on a bigger role with CC. Kid still has talent, and once he gets going could still have a nice college career.

Agreed. Coaches may not have expected Rinks to be the #2 over the past 2 years, but he clears was. And in most cases (championship season) he made the most of it. Clearly, Tomek was the more highly touted recruit, but obviously he didn't prove himself enough, or he would have played more than he did. So whether his issue was getting beat out on the ice, or attitude in the locker room, or a little of both, clearly the coaches didn't think he was ready to start or be the back up, given his competition. Best of luck to the guy .... unless he comes back to college and players for the Gopher or Badger or some other ridiculous team. -

Crazy, it has been that long. I remember wathcing Quinn play when I was in college, and now I officially feel old. -
Agreed. I still think it is unlikely .... HIGHLY unlikely, but it is cool to see UND and its players get some recognition.
-
Wow! I know there was another mention of him being a potential second rounder, but this is pretty surprising. Deion will have to really prove himself this year to keep the hype, but it is pretty cool to see some guys getting this kind of attention. Hopefully he's sees this kind of stuff as motivation. Obviously he is catching some eyes. A little humorous that according to this list, Harris would be considered the #2 CB prospect in the country. He is good, but I'm not sure I would call that realistic. On the other hand, another year like last year (or even a little better) and he will really build the hype.

I'd like to see him come back as well. He is one injury away from playing major minutes. He hasn't had great showings in the minimal ice time that he has had, but neither did Cam when he first played. If I remember right, he got rocked in his first appearance, and started his National Championship season with a couple soft goals to Maine. If Tomek had the ability to get a little consistent playing time, this year or next, maybe he really shows us what he's got. I hope he stays, but I understand if he does not. Even if he does go to the USHL, I hope the coaches stay in contact with the kid. Maybe he comes back for another try. Who knows... -
This! Thanks for posting. Sounds like your kid stepped up big time as an adult and did what he needed to do. Don't mind some of the "critics" on here. From a football perspective, Elijah was a blast to watch as a Freshman, and as a fan, I am very excited to see him coming back.
-
Probably shouldn't play Santiago, Oliveira, Gordon, JJ either. While we are at it lets keep Reyes and Harris on the bench too. Maybe we go with an all back up lineup for this game ..... joking with you obviously, but when it is time for the selection show, I'll feel much better about our chances of getting the #1 overall seed, with that FBS win, rather than a "quality" loss.
-
Yeah flip flow Grady and Demon and you're good. I'll accept Grady may need to knock of the rust a bit (just like a lot of players in the opener), but the kid is an athlete and a competitor. He'll be laying out some key blocks for "so long" Santiago again this season. Can't wait!

NDSU was able to wear down Iowa. I don't see any reason UND can't do the same. Granted I would consider Utah a better team than Iowa (not to take away from what the Bison did, they just seem to get it done), but as has been mentioned Utah has lost a lot of talent, especially on their O Line, and we certainly have a high end D Line. I hope they can get to the QB and get there early. I think the D will get their stops. The real questions will be, can the offense click better than they did at the beginning of last season? I'm not going to say we will be hitting on all cylinders, but I think we can expect a better start out of the gate. More experience and more depth will be huge in getting that run game going right away. If we can do that, it should take a little pressure off of Studs right away. Would be fun to see an early connection from Studs to Mckinney though.
-
So fun to see where this program is compared to the Muss years. Bubba has really made UND football exciting again. Can't wait for camp to start, and to see that first game against Utah. Obviously it is early, but does anyone know if there will be any tv options, or streaming capabilities through Roku like we have seen in the past? I would think Utah would have the game streamed through their website, but it would be nice if it was available in some other way.
-
Any idea what the time frame would be before we here from Ketteringham? Would actually be a really great thing to get the kid, and have him redshirt for a year. Studs leaves, and Zimmerman and Ketteringham could battle it out for the starting role, each having significant time to pickup UND's system.
-
I think you answered your own question.
-
Still could. Chances of sticking with the cowboys? Who knows? But maybe he bounces around a bit. Best of luck to the kid. I'll be pullin for him!
