  1. I mean if we are going to compare dumpster fires, at least playing for a bigger program comes with bigger perks. If this was a competitive UND team, I may understand the concept. But c'mon. What has this team/program shown in the last handful of years that would really make someone not consider other options? I'm not saying it is right. I am old school and think if a school is giving you an opportunity and an education, you should be grateful for it and show up ready to work for 4 years, but that just isn't the way it is right now.
  2. I haven't had much to say on the message board this season. There aren't many positive things to say. I've been frustrated with the officiating big time this season, but that is far from what is holding this team back. Would like to see a more potent offense (we seem to miss the net A LOT), our D just hasn't been the same with Sanderson gone, and goaltending has been a struggle to say the least. That being said, when I turned the game on Saturday in the 2nd. It was like watching an entire different team out there. The sustained zone pressure and offensive opportunities were great. I thought goaltending was better this weekend as well. Ultimately, if these team played all year, the way they did this past weekend, we would be in the tournament picture with an at large bid. The only glimmer of hope I have here is that this team starts clicking right down the stretch and finds a way to make a push into St Paul. UND has shown they can play with anyone (MN, SCSU, DU - We had some good games with all of these teams), but they have also shown they can lose to anyone. Get hot at the right time and who know what happens. Would be fun to end a rough season with a trip to St Paul, and Auto bid and a tourney appearance. At that point, you can only hope the team builds some chemistry and momentum into next season. At a few more key pieces and who knows what next year looks like. Definitely excited to see what Blake can do over the next few seasons. Go get CC! We need a sweep!
  3. I don't understand anyone majorly defending Sather through all of this. He hasn't done anything during his time here. 9-17 with maybe one more win left on the schedule. People can talk about the transfer portal all the want, but every team in the league and the country has to face the transfer portal. They can talk about not having the players with the size or physical play like other teams. The coach recruits these kids, if he can't get them to stay or develop them or have them game ready, that is on him. Not saying it is an easy job, or that everything is within Sather's control, and that's not always fair BUT after multiple years of this has he done anything to EARN and extension? I'm not a basketball fan, so it doesn't make a huge difference to me, but I do enjoy when UND has a good year. Gives me something else to follow casually and watch. Definitely been a few years since I've been able to do that. (Hoping the win over Denver sets a tone for a the hockey series this weekend! )
  4. I think the camera man said F it and left. This is awful.
  5. I believe on TV they mentioned something like 3rd major of the year, or something to that tone, carries an automatic 1 game suspension with it. Announcers seemed pretty confident that Kleven will be sitting tomorrow.
  6. I've never been less interested in UND hockey over the past 20 years. If we had a bad record but were playing tough, it would be a bit different. This team plays sloppy hockey with no chemistry night in and night out. The defensive zone turnover the other night was like something out of beer league hockey. I hate to sound like a fair weather fan, but it is tough hockey to watch. Plenty of talent, but no chemistry. Hoping they can take a step forward next season, but it has to be in all phases. Goaltending has been bad, but the D hasn't helped either. Offense needs to score more. College teams can change quickly and I'm hoping for that for next season. I also don't want to put it all on Berry, but we have had more down seasons with him that we should have to deal with (some good ones too). Go back to Hak; he had some down seasons, but always found a way to get into the tourney and once there would make some noise. Even when he had teams that had lesser talent, he had them firing on all cylinders by the end of the season. Shame we had to lose him to the NHL, especially when you go back to the conversations of him turning down the Flyers a few times before ultimately taking the deal.
  7. If there was a tourney, would UND participate? Yes. How can anyone who knows anything about hockey not find value in additional games/tourney experience. Should UND participate? Yes. While it would be somewhat embarrassing for a program like UND to participate in the Not Invited Tourney/Backup Tourney/Whatever you want to call it, is it any less embarrassing than missing the tourney altogether? The questions not in the poll. Should there be a tourney? No. I don't think college hockey is deep enough to really support more than one tourney. Lets focus on fixing the regional situation so the teams who earned a spot aren't playing in empty arenas. If there was an argument to be made: It would give Omaha another opportunity for a participation banner.
  8. Its been pretty quiet out here. Any new rumors or info on potential transfers or late commits?
  9. Does anyone with more knowledge think Kaminski could jump Feeney in the depth chart? Not concerned about next year, but possibly the following year depending on what Schuster decides to do. I like the direction the offense is going. If they can keep it up and the offense can match, there is some potential here. Still bummed with how our season ended, but as always, looking forward to next season!
  10. The lineman you can throw some passes to
  11. The part I find interesting is if Coley isn't good enough to play next year so we make the nudge or the mutual agreement for the portal, then why didn't we put some of our younger guys out and give them some playing time this year? Do we think they will make that big of a jump by next Fall to be better than where Coley was? Or do we really think we will pull in some portal guys? We did that with Buchner last year, and he didn't exactly shine. Maybe he will be better after a year in the system.
  12. Hoping to see some more FBS commits to UND soon! ...FBS, FCS, D2 or Juco standouts. I don't care as long as they can play and fill some of the gaps we have on this team.
  13. they didn't really want him
  14. I would say it all depends on how they perform on the field. Winning solves a lot of problems. So if he brings in a ton of new players and it works, then I don't think fans are going to really care all that much.
  15. I'm not advocating for UND to pull a Petrino, but they truly need to utilize the portal in several areas and HIT on their offers if they want to rebuild this defense by next year. Probably not going to be a top D nationally but need to be more competent than we were this year to give us a chance. I just hope they are taking it seriously rather than rolling with what we have, especially with our front 7. I could see the secondary improving, though I think a lot of this is scheme as much as skill. Interested to see how Dixon fits into the mix. and if Bishop could step up and take some reps. Would rather see these guys play more man than zone. Safety ... any help available???
  16. Penalty or not, that is a stupid call. Don’t kick it to that guy.
  17. Why don’t we just kick it out of bounds?
  18. Hoosman not wanting to go out like this.
  19. I’m sure Chaves will give bubba a pat on the back via text from the REA tonight. assuming Chaves isn’t there
  20. We just keep proving we can lose in so many ways!
  21. Yeah, I’m not even high on Danny when I look at our big games. But of all people he has shown competence.
