Bummer, that was always a nice notification system.

Tommy is the guy BUT as other have stated, I really hope he has spent the summer working on that long ball. He seems to add a new element to his game every year. Last year we finally saw him run when the opportunities were there. This year he needs to continue to build on that AND hit some deep balls, some of that is accuracy and some of that is trusting your receivers to make plays. Defense could be interesting this year. Hope some guys are ready to step up. I thought I read something before about them simplifying the defense which could be a huge help. The question beyond that; is the talent there and do we have enough guys that can make plays? My biggest hope as we head into camp .... PLEASE STAY HEALTHY!!! The Lotysz news really bums me out, but fortunately. O-Line has been built into a team strength in a relatively short period of time.

Worked out ok back when we were D2. That would be a nice road win on the resume.

Is there a website glitch cause the twitter/social media section of the main page to not update? I've noticed the same tweets up there for a while; looks like something isn't updating.

Not sure where else to put this, but a big shout out to the UND athletic department. I saw they put out a tweet about picking up the free football posters for this season; which works if you are in town. As an out of towner, I tweeted back and asked if there was another way to get one for my son. I got a quick reply in my DMs to send them my address and they would be happy to mail us one. I've got a happy 9 year old who is excited for some football. While I totally appreciate them going out of their way to do this, I'd have one recommendation for the school. Put any and all posters on your website, free if you can do it, but make the fan ordering pay for the postage. I'd gladly order a few posters for my kids and pay for some shipping costs. Not much to me, but I can imagine that would add up as some unnecessary expenses for the athletic department. Either way, big thanks to UND for going out of there way on that.

Recruiting has been kind of surreal this summer. Haven't seen that one crazy high level recruit (YET), but seen A LOT of really solid guys and all positions. I feel like we need to see some additions at the LB positions still, but plenty of time. Super impressed with some of the guys we have thus far. Really excited about where we are heading. Hoping our new D-Coordinator can step in and make a nice impact because I really like the way everything else is trending.

There is that whole education thing, and they are a good school

A lot of impressive linemen in this class .... heck, a lot of impressive recruits in this class.

This just popped up on my screen and I had to question is. 84 is young so I have no clue what is potential will be. But 13 made some nice contributions as a depth player and was 12 a pretty key part of our offense at times?

Wish Q had Brockstars speed

This doesn't even make sense. If they didn't want to raise questions or answer them, they would have put Tommy on the posted regardless. Maybe Tommy didn't want to be on it. Maybe he was sick the day they took pictures. Maybe they didn't care which players were on it as much as getting the right pictures. It must be July if this is the conversation we are stretching for. If you think anyone except for Tommy will start the season, you're nuts. They're not going to sit a guy who has dominated our record books and been or most successful and consistent guy in a long time. I'm not saying Tommy is the best in the league, but you'd be crazy to think he isn't THE guy to start the season barring injury. That being said, I am very intersted to see who #2 is. Sounded like Q would be working at TE some, though I hope they keep him at QB for the short yardage packages. Really hoping Feeney is ready to step up if needed.

Its early enough that I would assume this is a timing issue and the schedule just hasn't been completed yet. Pretty sure MVFC has a contract in place with ESPN+ and we would have heard something if the games weren't going to be broadcast.

Nice to pick up an Iowa kid who could have gone to Iowa. We've seem plenty of those types of players pick their home state or the bigger school with PWO offers. Can't wait to see what else comes with this next recruiting class.

Not choosing favorites here. I love both UND football and hockey and would like to see both be dominant programs. I would never sacrifice either one for the other and choose to support both. If I came into an absurd amount of money tomorrow, I would be happy to donate a bunch to football and build an on-campus stadium because hockey has already had that type of contribution. But it is as unrealistic for me as it is for most. I'd love to see both programs succeed!
-
Not saying you specifically, but there are plenty of Bison fans that would love to see UND fold there football program altogether. Look no further than Bisonville, where they clearly state they do not want UND to be a football school.
-
Nah, I think that is kind of lame. You should strive to be strong in all programs. I don't care to settle for mediocrity. That seems to be the common cry from NDSU fans, which makes sense, they don't want another strong football program in the state. Things are going just fine the way they are for them and they have enough competition regionally with SDSU, wouldn't want someone else stepping in.

I love how blatant and obvious your hypocrisy is. Just to clarify, its ok for football to receive a big donation, but not for hockey to. So what would your suggestion have been to the school; turn down the REA donation? Thanks, but no thanks? Would you have cared if this was for track and field? or golf? Or is this once again just your hatred of hockey shining through. Sorry, I just get sick of reading your nonsense, it equates to a kid throwing a tantrum because something isn't fair. Lets call it what it is ... jealousy. Which I totally understand. When someone has something really nice, why wouldn't you want the same. I'd love for football to have the same caliber of facilities as hockey, but unless you've got another extremely wealthy donor ready to put their name on a building the conversation is moot. Hockey got the money because Ralph was a hockey guy. Pretty clear that when someone specifies what their donation is for you can't just divert their funds to something else. Also worth noting that even if Football had all the donations in the world, it wouldn't necessarily flip a switch and make UND a dominant program (it would certainly help). We still have NDSU in our backyard and they will still win recruiting battles because they win on the field. Obviously money and facilities help; I'd never deny that. Though lets also look back at hockey. We had plenty of high end players before the REA was built, and we've missed on plenty of high end players since the arena was built. Plenty of other factors.

So, if we received a $100M gift for football tomorrow (Stadium, Uniforms, NIL funds, practice facilities, etc.), would you be complaining about how it puts the football program on a pedestal and isn't fair to the basketball or volleyball program? or golf, or whatever?
-
The amount of hate you have for the Engelstads is hilarious. I'm not saying they should call all the shots with UND or UND athletics, but how can anyone fault a family that is going to give UND such a generous gift and such a boost to a program. Had they given that to UND football you wouldn't shut up about how amazing they are. Lets just call it was it is, you're not happy because someone gave their money somewhere that they want, rather than somewhere you want. Feel free to pony up $100M to the football program. C'mon, have a filthy rich casino owner donate an arena to the caliber of the REA is unusual anywhere in the college sports world, but its pretty awesome to have a facility like that on campus. In a perfect world we would get an on campus football stadium to match it, but it just isn't realistic.

Very cool! Anyone know how this works going forward? Does she get to keep her sport on the UND roster? If Panama moves her back down does she come back to GF?
-
Could you elaborate for those of us who haven't seen him play? Head scratcher because he isn't D1 talent? Because he is a better basketball player? Because it is only his first offer?
-
So, you'd rather cut your nose to spite your face. We can always disagree, but I don't understand how taking away from your source of income is a smart long-term plan. I suppose it depends how much fund diversions you are talking about, but the bottom line is you also have to support your cash cow. The cash cow doesn't produce, you can forget football and plenty of other sports. Hockey has a return because of historic success and a regional interest in hockey. Are you trying to tell me there was no interest prior to the Engelstad investment? If football wants more funds, it should come from generating new interest with donations. We have plenty of wealthy alumni and it is hard to imagine we can put some sort of funding together. Again, I would absolutely love to see football get some more help and funding ... but I don't hate hockey the way you do. There is room for more than one program on campus and done correctly maybe they can both generate revenue.
-
Right on cue with your same tired argument. You're correct, Football does need some additional funds, but comparing UND and NDSU purely based on funding isn't exactly accurate either. I'd be interested to know what NDSU's funding was prior to them going FCS and really taking off. Seemed like as they found success they continued pumping money in. Worth remembering that while hockey gets a ton of funding, they also bring in the majority of the revenue. You don't fund it and your program takes a set back, your revenue source struggles. Football needs more funding, but also needs to find success on the field, put butts in seats, get people in apparel and generate additional revenue.

There must be a hockey game that night.

This conversation comes up all too often. UND isn't ivy league and MSU (amongst other schools discussed on this board) is not a small time community college. They are 100% in the same conversation (big picture).
