  1. Bubba's potential staff he hires would be better than Kalen's. I'll say it again. I think we would all be surprised by Bubba's staff. Myself included.
  2. Harris might have the hips and speed to play DB. Maybe even corner? 6'1" - 6'2" corners with long arms are rare. It's a longshot, but worth a shot. If he can, he should play in the secondary. If he lifts and eats himself out of the safety position, then he probably ends up at OLB.
  3. I agree Agree. Regardless of who the coach is, this is a 2-3 year rebuild project. If we get 5-6 wins next year, I'll be ecstatic. Not because I have low expectations for this program, because that's the reality of the situation we are in. We will need some patience to turn it around. (cue axl)
  4. I believe Bubba was at UND from 1989-2003. I might be off a year or 2.
  5. I'm going to vehemently disagree with you on this...1000%
  6. If he leaves again after 15 years as Head Coach at UND, then I'd say we did pretty well.
  7. Preach it brother....I'm with ya.
  8. Sorry, I guess made that up out of nowhere. It appeared you were down on "UND guys" to me.... except Tibesar.
  9. I think there's no question Bubba would like to entertain that thought if he gets the job. However, I think his respect for Dale would ultimately prevent him from doing that. No chance Bubba leaves Dale to be DC for Deboer.
  10. Ugh, can't wait until this thing is over.....back to ss.com hibernation.
  11. But he's a UND guy...you want fresh blood. Can't have it both ways.
  12. Would you take Tibesar or not?
  13. In hindsight, UND as we know it was successfully built on those same "UND guys" that you loathe. Specifically the football program. I'd say there's a pretty good track record there, no? What if Tibesar was an option? Same thing? He's a "good ol' boy network" kind of guy who has "buddies and schmoozers" too. But by all means, carry on...
  14. Once again, not surprising when you consider that the players were told at the team meeting by the AD and the SWA that anyone wishing to transfer would be granted their release. This happened shortly after the firing when morale was probably pretty low all-around. They did that rather than tell the players they really want them to stay and that they need to wait until the new coach is hired before they would sign their transfer papers. No wonder players are dropping like flies. How would all of us take that as 18-21 year old kids, especially if we were from Chicago and had doubts in our mind about the whole situation? Would we think they cared if we stayed or left? Certain kids would have left regardless, but the leadership attitude no doubt had to make a difference in at least a few others.
  15. 100% agree with this. Thanks for the info, siouxjoy.
  16. One more last question, then I'm done with my stupid questions. (yeah I know, there's only stupid people right? ) Why isnt a finalist on campus today, tomorrow and/or Friday. Can't find a flight or what? I thought we had an aviation school or something like that? You could have a presser on Friday like many on here had hoped and speculated about. Plus the other candidate who doesnt get hired can get on with his life and still be back at his other job hosting recruits over the weekend for Lennon at SIU. Which is worse? A Friday December 20th presser, or a Monday December 23rd presser?
  17. A head coach "interviews" who he wants for the positions. It's different.
  18. Monday December 23rd.....2 days before Christmas and one day before Christmas Eve, when the campus and GF are in a coma. I wonder if there will even be any media around for the presser or if they have already made their Christmas travel plans? Can't say I would blame them. Just a PR fail from start to finish. You have to be able to play the PR game. The propaganda machine to the south seems to understand this. Hard to argue with the results.
  19. The Head Coach hires the assistants. Not HR, not Faison. Thank the lord.
  20. I strongly disagree. Here's the difference. Head coaching candidates already have an idea of how they want to put their staffs together. They are very calculated. It's how they become head coaching candidates. You think a guy like Bubba doesn't have a list of a few at each position already? AD's should operate this way too, just like the Boise State AD said he did with Petersen. He had his list ready before Petersen even left. Head Coaching candidates work the same way. Guarantee it. By posting those positions at the same time (this would make sense since they were made open at the same time as the head coach job) you eliminate the painful process of getting your guys in place. Maybe there is a position or 2 that take no longer to hire and fill out. If so, so be it. But at least you give the head coach the ability of getting everything in place in a timely manner and hit the ground running. After the hires are done, there is TONS of planning that takes place moving forward. Many, many meetings to decide who's doing what and calling who. Recruiting territories, all of it. Call it offseason "gameplanning". I see no logical reason for the assistant positions to have not been posted already to get the "clock" ticking.
  21. Sad. True UND fans don't succumb to this... Please don't do it.
  22. Again, this begs the question.... Why weren't the assistant coach positions listed at the same time as the head coach to avoid any issues with the 'process' and HR? Why? I absolutely do not understand the lack of planning and vision on this. Even if you keep 2 guys on in the interim, you can still list every other position, literally. Then a head coach can have his staff in place and not have to tell them they have to wait for the HR crap.
  23. http://www.grandfork...icle/id/280425/ Here is a perfect example of higher ed "criteria" and PC run amok. Despite the reviews of her co-workers, colleagues and immediate superior stating otherwise, the dean recommends a promotion and tenure instead of solving 'problems' the correct way. Then the President reaffirms the decision to allow the professor to seek tenure. It's obvious the decision wasn't based on common sense or the information that's available, but rather the superceding wisdom of "the criteria" put in place. I wonder how many successful businesses in the private sector operate this way? "Don't fire her, just give her a promotion, pension and more money...."
  24. Andy is the OC at Whitewater for Leipold. Josh is the finalist for the Mary job.
