  1. Would that include background checks, previous criminal record checks, valid driver's license checks....little, petty, detailed stuff like that too?
  2. I don't know anything about what they know about hiring a football coach, but at minimum it is probably a fair and legit question. I would ask Brian Faison as he put it together himself. I will say having Baukol and Smith on it is a good thing.
  3. Daniella Irle, Amanda Hajdu, Sue Jeno, Bruce Smith, Nate Baukol. Mike Berg was on it but unfortunately had to leave for family reasons.
  4. Because of the recruiting calendar. I respectfully submit that I'm not quite sure how much more clear I can be about that. National Signing Day is February 5th. They have to hire a staff after they hire a Head Coach. How long will it take to hire a staff? Open records. HR protocol. We will have the same problems facing the staff applicants, correct? If hiring a Head Coach is not deemed an "emergency hire" then hiring staff assistants surely doesn't either. UND Football cannot afford to miss out on a quality recruiting class. At this pace they will. Just my opinion.
  5. Hey, just have "trust and faith" in Faison that he is taking his time and doing things "the right way". Everything has gone just as planned and everything will be fine.... And then we will have to hire the assistants and go through HR protocol and deal with the UND open records laws again with all of them because "football coaches aren't considered emergency hires" right? If they are considered emergency hires, then why didn't they do it with the most important hire of all? Just sad.
  6. I don't necessarily disagree with you, but I can certainly see it from an AD's perspective. And better yet, a President's perspective...
  7. Pflugrad was never going to be UND's head coach.
  8. I hope you're right...
  9. Faison is coming off as clueless, incompetent and naive in regards to how to hire a Division 1 Head Football Coach. Combine that with how he handled the Ashlee Hardee ordeal and I'm beginning to wonder if he's 'fit' to be AD at UND. Once again, I hope this turns out. I will eat crow and love to do so.
  10. Hey, I agree with you.
  11. Unfortunately, I believe this is the case. The point or check system is used and only the "qualified" candidates are forwarded on to the search committee and/or Brian Faison. It's a vetting process to trim the fat. Although I'm not sure that Faison can't just go back and say, "hey I still want to see this candidate, even though he didn't pass HR protocol". It's a formality. Better yet, a big fat rubber stamp.
  12. Of course I'm totally spit-balling here, but I wonder if anybody would have an interest in this guy: http://www.tulsahurricane.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/peterson_greg00.html
  13. Well, then that about locks'er up...
  14. Ummm, this would be where you quote yourself from a past post of yours. I love that.
  15. No you can't. Respectfully, it would appear you are terribly uninformed. Moot point though as he didn't "apply".
  16. I was intrigued enough to do some research on the Iowa State Applicant, Bill Bleil, who coaches tight ends at Iowa State under Paul Roads. After further review, it appears he might have 'issues' getting hired at UND. http://www.widerightnattylite.com/2013/4/10/4210512/iowa-state-announces-major-ncaa-violations http://bleacherreport.com/articles/996577-how-mark-speir-needs-to-re-make-western-carolina-football
  17. I believe his wife is from Mandan?
  18. I'm just basing it on what's out there publicly, and what I was told by a coach who has worked with him on staff that talked to him within the last 3 days.
  19. Great resume. More than qualified.
  20. Like I said, I don't expect you to believe me. I do happen to know a coach that has worked with him on staff and has talked to him within the last 3 days. Again, take it FWIW.
  21. I hope your gut is right and that a coach is hired by the end of this week also. I'd be ready to move on when it's not Pflugrad. Heck, Weber State is passing on him. But I don't expect you or anyone else to believe me.
  22. This, this, this. I would love to have Pflugrad as an OC regardless of who the head coach is.
  23. "Lead, follow or get the hell out of the way." I have absolutely despised GT over the years as ndsu's AD with his propangandist attitude, ways and methods. But.... Outside of that, it kills me to say that he displays characteristics of what you want in an Athletic Director and leader. He understands and gets "it". He has shown that he will fight tooth and nail to get things done and do what's best for his employees, teams, the program and department. He displays leadership qualities. He understands the state of North Dakota. He plays the PR game. In his very first interview since Bohl announced he's leaving, GT mentions expediting the process as an "emergency hire". This qualifies as leading. GT is smart enough to play the PR game and get the thought process "out there" to the masses publicly. Whether or not it ends up working is besides the point. This has never been mentioned once as even a possibility publicly by UND administration that I am aware of. Feel free to figure out the rest of the story on your own... It will be something short of hilarious if somehow GT gets things expedited and is able to make an "emergency hire" while UND continues to allow "the process" and HR requirements to play out. In the end, all I care about is a good hire for UND Football. And yes timing has EVERYTHING to do with it right now for UND. Taking your time for the process is naive. Going out and 'getting your guy' is how competent leaders in Division 1 athletic departments conduct their business. Athletic Directors' leadership qualities are a big variable in wooing potential coaching candidates to come work for them. I hope this all turns out well for UND.
