I strongly disagree. Here's the difference. Head coaching candidates already have an idea of how they want to put their staffs together. They are very calculated. It's how they become head coaching candidates. You think a guy like Bubba doesn't have a list of a few at each position already? AD's should operate this way too, just like the Boise State AD said he did with Petersen. He had his list ready before Petersen even left. Head Coaching candidates work the same way. Guarantee it. By posting those positions at the same time (this would make sense since they were made open at the same time as the head coach job) you eliminate the painful process of getting your guys in place. Maybe there is a position or 2 that take no longer to hire and fill out. If so, so be it. But at least you give the head coach the ability of getting everything in place in a timely manner and hit the ground running. After the hires are done, there is TONS of planning that takes place moving forward. Many, many meetings to decide who's doing what and calling who. Recruiting territories, all of it. Call it offseason "gameplanning". I see no logical reason for the assistant positions to have not been posted already to get the "clock" ticking.

Sad. True UND fans don't succumb to this... Please don't do it.

Again, this begs the question.... Why weren't the assistant coach positions listed at the same time as the head coach to avoid any issues with the 'process' and HR? Why? I absolutely do not understand the lack of planning and vision on this. Even if you keep 2 guys on in the interim, you can still list every other position, literally. Then a head coach can have his staff in place and not have to tell them they have to wait for the HR crap.

http://www.grandfork...icle/id/280425/ Here is a perfect example of higher ed "criteria" and PC run amok. Despite the reviews of her co-workers, colleagues and immediate superior stating otherwise, the dean recommends a promotion and tenure instead of solving 'problems' the correct way. Then the President reaffirms the decision to allow the professor to seek tenure. It's obvious the decision wasn't based on common sense or the information that's available, but rather the superceding wisdom of "the criteria" put in place. I wonder how many successful businesses in the private sector operate this way? "Don't fire her, just give her a promotion, pension and more money...."

Andy is the OC at Whitewater for Leipold. Josh is the finalist for the Mary job.

I would love to be made a fool on this. In fact, I would welcome it with open arms right now. Just one of the many occasions that I hope I am 100% wrong.

We waited too long...

Probably a valid concern. However, I think he would surprise all of us with his staff if he has the right salary pool in place.
-
I'm both surprised and disappointed that you think I would say something like that just to 'stir the pot'. It would be one thing if my track record on here had proven otherwise, but I dont believe that to be the case. Specifically within the last month or so.

One would think.... At least make the call, right?....

That guy understands and gets it. That is a leader.

He's been shopping...

How about this? Golladay to NIU? Nothing official, but..... Would everyone just relax please? Faison needs time. His hands are tied. Just let this all play out. I trust and have faith that Faison has a plan and knows what he's doing. He understands how Division 1 football works, specifically with hiring a head coach. He has a great football network that he uses. He's a great PR guy and communicator and he knows what he's doing. He's a great leader of men and people just naturally gravitate towards him. They respond to him. He inspires confidence. He's the kind of guy people will run through walls for. Regarding Pflugrad: unless something has changed since they originally trimmed it down to 9, he's out.

Oh Shawn-0.... I really wish I had the answer to that million dollar question. But based on everything I know, my gut tells me it comes from the pile in the end.

Did a little research myself. Without knowing his personality and "background", I'd say at minimum, he is definitely worth looking at as a legit candidate.

Thank you for justifying why this whole process is a joke. There is absolutely no way that Jeff Mills should be considered if anyone with a brain does their research on him. None. "Hey this guy has a TON of experience and credentials at the FBS level....he's not been very successful and has been all over because of his lack of success, but WOW look at that resume....he gets an extra 'check' from me"
-
Oh I see, my bad. So why DeWitt? Sell me on him.

New Mexico is FBS.

Pflugrad is not in the top 9. To be fair, he never had a shot like I had been trying to say all along. Right, wrong or indifferent, that was the case and I can certainly understand it. Weber State did pass on him too, that's confirmed. Jeff Mills? I have no interest in hiring a head coach who was just forced out as DC from New Mexico by Bob Davie. None. 2013 New Mexico Defense: - 43 ppg allowed - 257 rushing ypg allowed - 259 passing ypg allowed - 516 total ypg allowed Although I do realize there is a rich history and winning tradition for their football program down there. I know many people on here are very concerned about the hiring and decision making process for a variety of reasons, some of which is justifiable. If Jeff Mills is in the 'final 9' then I have absolutely zero faith in this whole process.

Wrong again.

Impossible.

You missed the point of my post. And I know search committees don't handle those issues.
