Why stop there? I've never been to the new REA, but I think they have the Sioux logo on seats & at certain places in the marble floor around the concourse. Wouldn't fans sitting their arses on these logos & walking all over them constitute a form of disrespect, as well? And if the Minnesota Vikings sell beer in a plastic cup with an image of an old Norse warrior on it isn't that insulting & demeaning of Scandinavians, too? How do you think PETA feels about NDSU using a near-extinct bison for the selfish purpose of promoting its sports program? My point is, where do you draw the line with all this? If I had a liberal bent, I could make a contention against almost any school with any nickname or logo. I have no problem with "the Fighting Sioux", "the Thundering Herd", "the Minnesota Vikings" or any of their merchandising gimmicks & so don't others who have an ounce of common sense.

I haven't been keeping track, but it would be interesting to know ZPar's conversion % on breakaways. It doesn't appear he's very strong in this category & my guess is that it would be in the 25% range.

Therein lies the problem & the reason the SCSU administration is able to continue this ridiculous policy: 20 protestors & a school president has more influence than the 15,000 or so students who say or do nothing in response. Sad. Is apathy an overriding theme in your life? Do you think an administration that is goofy enough to focus on an inconsequential logo/nickname will just stop there? If the Sioux nickname were so controversial amongst the Sioux people the UND administration would have changed it long ago; but it's endorsed overwhelmingly by that proud tribe. Most of those who are "offended" are white liberals in their ivory towers. Buy a clue & get off the fence.
