Please, elaborate. How could he have done it better? The BC guy played the puck perfectly on Goal 1. Finley can't be as fast as a guy who is 1'2" shorter than he is. If he was, he would have gone #1 overall in the NHL draft and probably never would have suited up for the Sioux. He'd be a 3rd year NHLer right now.

Fan bias showing through here folks. Did Finley give up these goals? Nope. Genoway coughed up the puck twice. But Genoway is well liked. Finley is not. What the hell, blame Finley. Scapegoating: The Sioux post season and post loss mantra for the past 3+ years. Lee did well this year as a pro. I hope Finley goes pro. He'll do well and forget all about us. As he should. Some of you "fans" are truly pathetic.

BDB was the founder and president of the "Brian Lee Hater Club of America." He's been rather quiet this year regarding Finley... but with the Sioux about to get blown out, I'm sure he'll be the top poster in the coming weeks with his hatred of all things current Sioux. God I love the 1999-2000 Sioux team or the 1987 team, but they aren't there anymore. I don't blame BDB for being disappointed. I can say that I don't have to throw players under the bus in order to feel better. I also don't need to throw coaches under the bus either just because his players don't make plays, don't stay on their skates, and can't handle the puck.

Hmm... whiffing, falling down, stickhandling at an all time high in suck level.... Goals 1 and 4 not JPL's fault. Goals 2 and 3 all JPL. Let's try a new tactic: PEPPER THE NET. AND CONTROL THE F ING PUCK. If the puck bounces, ice it, clear it, get it out of the zone. Just keep it away from BC. We MUST play flawless now. We have to make them make mistakes. Right now, we're the only ones making mistakes. Now, if BC played the blueprint "perfect" first period, let's put it this way: If UND plays like they did in the first period, I'll have to ask what is the most goals scored in a Frozen Four game because BC WILL beat that. GUARANTEED. Also, on a personal note: Genoway got positively schooled in how to not handle the puck. Finley actually did a good job to try to fix things. He nearly got the puck on the 2 on 1 and he wasn't fast enough on the breakaway. But... Genoway is a fan favorite and Finley is not...

Like to point out this post. For how down on Slap Shot "everyone" seems to be.... We'll need everything we've got to win today and Saturday. There's no such thing as a free ride this time around...unless Miami could have beat BC. Then UND would be watching ND/UM.

It's going to be a tough game. The neutral zone will be the key, as well as how the officials will view the physical elements of the game (we have a huge size advantage, whereas they have 7 players shorter than 5'10" including two at 5'6"). It won't be a WCHA crew, I hope. I don't see either team playing cheap. BC isn't that kind of team. However, Finley's elbows are head height on Gerbe and Whitney.... Unless Finley cannonballs, he might take a few minors for elbowing... Quick edit: I agree with dagies. I'll surely be disappointed if we lose this game, but I won't be calling for any heads to roll. BC is just darn good and has had our number since 2001 in the NCAAs at least.

Great post. I agree 100%

Are all you going to do is post insults and petty remarks towards Goon? If so, then I have a question for GDM, JimDahl, and Administrator: Why is Dean still able to post? I mean, we get it, Dean. You don't like Goon. Time to let it go. It's been a long time since you have posted anything of substance on this board (substance, in this case, anything that isn't meant as a dig on Goon). Just curious that's all.

Now... I wonder if Graham Kracker's statements are true... if so, Steve Fool Bear may not have a home in the reservation to return to for saying such things. He's right though. The nickname goes away but the racism* will continue. * let me make a caveat regarding this term with direct regard to recent events at regional campuses and greek life. I do not believe that any of these people are racists. They are just criminally stupid. There is a big difference. Racists may not be vocal, but those who are speak out that the world's problems stem from an ethnicity or can be traced back to a trait (perceived or otherwise) displayed by people of a race or creed. These NDSU students and those unfortunate events that happened 20+ years ago on UND's campus weren't racists really. They were just idiots. Idiots exist. But whatever helps the activists make their headline.

I wonder if Pitlick will be another Backes for the Mavs. If so, yikes.
-
Also, Tyler Pitlick committed to MSU, Mankato. Don't know if he was an interest by the Sioux, but I did hear good things about him.
-
I was wondering who the Gophers were going to bring in. Josh Robinson just committed to MTU and he would have been a good backup for Kangas. the 3rd stringer will for sure be a walk on, but maybe this will be the opening that Kent Patterson waited for? In any case, I'm only bummed about Frazee leaving because he helped enforce me as a terrible predicter. He was SUPPOSED to wrest the #1 spot away from Sieve Briggs by January of his freshman year (much like Kangas wrested it from him a bit earlier in the season IIRC). I'm not sympathetic because it seems, if the rumors hold true, that much of his struggles (including all of it off the ice) were his doing. It's just amazing that a goaltender that has been solid (regardless of Toews' performance) internationally can tank like Frazee did.

Two jump out at me: 1. Pavli (from American International) gets signed to an AHL or ECHL deal. Yeah, I know what you are thinking too: "AI has a hockey team?!?!" 2. Brent Solei gets signed by Bakersfield of the ECHL. Dude, did he even play in a game that counted even once for the Gophers? If he didn't, then I really like Walski's chances at getting signed by the NHL.

(Ron Santo) Speaking of Ah-Wha? type comments, here's one taken hot off the airwaves from today's Cubs game: Ron Santo is talking on the radio about Brocail (or some other dumb left handed Astros pitcher) when he says, "This guy will be hard on left handed hitters because...he throws from first base!" UH WHA?? (Seriously, get Santo off the air NOW. And, yes, I'm a Cubs fan!) Sorry for being off topic.

In essence, it is. Then again, this media yutz only looked for catch words like "Misconduct." It doesn't matter what kind of misconduct it is.

IIRC, Kaip line is Kaip, Watkins, and VV. Why split that line up? I think that line has size, grit, and scoring ability. Not to mention speed, character, and heart. It may not be as dynamic scoring-wise as the Oshie line, but it is bar none the second most effective line on the Sioux. I would not break up that line at all.

Read "Badger Fans" in that last statement to "Media during the UW/UND series."

Honestly? AZSioux's idea of the ECHL affiliate would be awfully nice, but my bet is one of two places: 1. CHL or UHL (now called the IHL). These are considered NHL minor leagues, though very much in the loose sense. It's not often that a CHL or IHLer makes the NHL, but the NHL has sent players there in the past for various reasons. 2. Overseas: Frazee, if no CHL or IHL team calls, might want to investigate a league like the Finnish Elite or Swedish Elite League. Best guesses, but seriously, for a 3rd round pick who had nothing but stellar junior and international performances leading into college, he's certainly taken quite a nose-dive. Well, at least, for a former big shot USA U18 goaltender, he hasn't has the type of plummet Dominic Vicari had. That guy went from U20 backup to complete anonymity.

I don't see Radke sitting. I think it could end up being either Miller or Malone that ends up sitting to be honest. I'm not sure who I'd like to see sit, truthfully, but I can't see taking grit out of the lineup. Malone is gritty, but hasn't really played overly well. Hak seems enamored with Miller because he must do very well in practice, so perhaps the freshman sits.
-
but not the grammar.
-
Not playing, but according to Brad Schlossman, former Sioux Lee Davidson stepped down from tUMD.
-
I think so yes. I'd think Phoenix would use him in a similar capacity to what UND uses VV for currently. I know he's a natural winger, but he did alright at center. But he could be a mucker and grinder amongst scorers on the second line, sure.
-
Disagree. Kaip-VV-Watkins line had a GREAT shift which resulted in the first goal vs. UW. And, if Connelly would have managed to make the save and left ANY rebound at all, Watkins would have banged it in. Also don't forget that VV set up Watkins for a BEAUTIFUL one timer that only didn't go in because Connelly made the save of the game.
-
I agree, but I think people are making too big of a deal with the signing deadline. If Wheeler were to go all four years at UMN, he wouldn't automatically become a free agent. The Coyotes would have until August following his graduation to sign him. There is ZERO doubt in my mind that they'd be able to do just that.
-
I agree, they each made one mistake, but there is one thing you overlooked regarding Malone. IIRC, Duncan's tying goal vs. UW I believe a penalty had just expired (or perhaps it was vs. Princeton) in any case, Malone drew a penalty and we ended up benefitting from it. You are right in that Malone was nonexistant throughout most of the tourney. Not sure I'd bench him except if it comes down to choosing between Radke or Malone. Despite Radke's mistake, I'd still dress Radke. I think speed is going to be a problem for both Marto and LaPoint. They have small, fast skaters. The more I think about it, I would put Marto in vs. BC and, if we win, put LaPoint in vs. Michigan/Notre Dame. The only thing we're really giving up with LaPoint sitting, imo, is offense. I believe LaPoint has been better in the offensive zone than Marto this season. I think the biggest non-factors this tourney thus far have been Miller and Malone.
