First of all, the area where the MCI Center is located is a great place. I went to DC for a conference and saw a Red Wings/Caps game (Ovechkin scored a goal but Detroit won...good game all around for me). You do NOT need to rent a car. The blocks are short and everything is an easy walk downtown or, if you wish to do sight seeing, the subway is really clean and easy to navigate. Of course, there are buses and cabs too. If you have money, I'd recommend the Renaissance Hotel near the Convention Center. I can't tell you exactly how far it is from the arena (it may not be walking distance to be honest... i've not been to DC in 2 years or so) but the place is top notch. MCI Center: I saw the game from the nosebleeds. REALLY high up in the upper deck and it was a good seat. A nice arena for sure.

Don't think he's posted yet. I'm still waiting though. I don't think I whined enough regarding Lawson's no-goal though...

I finished higher than last year (IIRC) in the 1 point per game standing than last year (103rd) but lower in the performance rating (85th). Well.... at least I didn't end up 292nd!

Hak was hired precisely for that among other things. A list? 1. Blais' choice for a replacement 2. Did a great percentage of the recruiting (especially defense) under Blais 3. Proven recruiter without Blais (his years with the USHL) 4. He was better qualified all around than the others. Yeah, Steve Johnson would have been a great coach, but he didn't have the educational requirements. John Marks has a checkered past and there's questions about his ability to recruit. I can't remember who else applied... I think they made the right choice.

I think Rueg will return. I'm interested to see what Bozak does personally. He's an overager... IIRC he was 21 coming into the season (or turned 21 during the season). If the gettin' is good, he might jump ala Maine's Ted Purcell (who, interestingly enough, just won AHL's Rookie of the Year award).

Beat me to it. Either that or Hakstol is going to have to wear protective head gear to prevent injury after people throw things at him. JPL, Joe Finley, Chay Genoway... don't even bother showing up. Just quit the team or sign a pro contract or do something else. You all suck.

I love comments like this. I played hockey "and I was quite good." How so? In who's opinion? Why is this a qualifier for commenting on hockey? I'm not Canadian and I never played hockey. I guess that means I am not "qualified" to comment? How asinine! I'd understand the comment if we were talking strategy or the role of a position... you know, stuff a hockey player would know better than a fan. However, I'll be damned if someone is going to tell me to shut up because I've never played. I'm a fan. I live and breath Sioux hockey. I love hockey (even Wild hockey...despite it being boring and the team sucking...usually). Why can't I speak of my passion? It would make things easier though... Only current military members who are serving in Iraq or have served in Iraq should be allowed to comment on the war. The rest of us should just shut up about it. Yeah, I like that idea.

I'll be pissed if the Sioux fanbase gets "Whiner of the Week" and I'm not mentioned. :)

Heh...."Too Bad" Don Adam wasn't officiating. That hit from behind probably would have been a two minute minor. Derek Shepherd might not even have called a penalty unless MacWilliam left on a stretcher... In which case it would be about 60/40 no-call.

This wasn't a bashing thread. TJ and crew did something stupid. They're paying for it. Probably the final kiss off to a horrible season ending game. No excuses and I'm sure they're getting run through the mill (TJ has to answer to Hakstol AND Davidson). Too bad for the lot of them.

They are currently partying with Oshie, VV, and chorney.

Good point. Is JPL going to play in the NHL? Not likely. I mean, if Goehring can't get any NHL ice time, JPL won't. However, can he still have a productive minor league career? Can he get at least a sniff of the NHL? You bet! He had a crappy final game. It happens. I think he'll do fine. If that's not in hockey, that's fine too. I think Goehring graduated from UND with a marketting degree and a GPA close to 4. I mean, I think Karl could go from the goal crease to the front office (not like Garth Snow, but certainly in the business office) if he wants. Maybe JPL can do something similar, though I don't know his major.

Good point. I suggest we do what Fairbanks did. They fired their coach, hired another, that one quit before ever taking to the ice, hired another one, that one pissed of all of the players and administration (and I guess the community as well), recruited around 20 players for 2008, forced what good players they had out, and then got fired. Talk about a train wreck.

Seriously? With today's civil law system and the lawyers out there who are masters at word manipulation, you can sue for just about anything! The days of frivilous lawsuits are just because the lawyer didn't word the lawsuit very well. /bitterness

Hmmm.... There is a lot of hot air emanating from this forum at times.... Not sure if Taz Boy is the culprit, but I think we certainly can find government funding to study it. :)

He does need to work on his foot speed, yes. Did I say he was the best or most improved player on the team? No, I thought most improved belonged to Kozek. However, compare this season to his last two. The last two years he was barely able to crack the lineup. He finds a scoring touch (not necessarily goal scoring but that pass to Trupp to beat Minnesota was darn nice) and he convinces Hakstol that he deserves to play. I think that's something to be proud of if I were Martens or a fan of his.

What's wrong? Nothing now. Just in the past, threads like these degraded so fast that I did not expect it to go in the direction it has. I don't think this thread needs to be closed now... not that I have the power to close threads anyhow.

I can't imagine. Devs lost, but I just dont' think the Devs have what it takes this season. They need better D.

I'm not mad.... I find this board can try anyone's patience. I freely admit to almost blindly supporting each player and coach on the team. I don't care if they flicked off a ref, made a mistake or two on or off the ice, or whatever. I get myself all worked up when people act so ruthless on this board towards kids who are just doing their damndest to win. Sometimes it works. Other times it doesn't. Hakstol didn't spend the past 2 weeks saying "Ok, boys, let's work on this play so we can give up 4 goals in the first period and make our Frozen Four a laugher. I got a strict tee time the Friday after the game and I don't want to miss it!" The fact that the term "flaming" is commonly renamed "criticism" really bothers me. We may be pissed off but like hell are the players feeling any better that we do right now. In fact, I'm pretty sure they feel pretty damn awful. We respect the players when they do something great or amazing but we line up to beat them down when they make a mistake. Seriously... what a low standard to have for our own behavior! That's what disgusts me.

I wasn't trying to insult you. Removed the post. My apologies.

My point exactly. Notre Dame outplayed Michigan for much of the game, but they didn't look very fast to me. BC was positively FLYING out there. I think BC will get ND skating in circles like they did to us and beat ND handily. That being said, GO NOTRE DAME!
-
Nope. Denny Green's never been to a Super Bowl. Hakstol has been to an NC game. Plus, Hakstol doesn't make retarded remarks to the media... only retarded finger gestures to Don "I shoulda been fired 3 years ago" Adam.
-
I thought Kaip played hard too. Of all the seniors, I think Kaip was the lone representative who played 60 minutes. He just couldn't pull through offensively for the team. I feel bad for the seniors.

Nope. I'm not blaming Chay for the loss. I'm simply saying that Finley's blaming is unfair because those goals were made because of Chay's mishandling of the puck. Trust me... Chay did not lose us the game. By the time Chay's second mistake occurred, the Sioux had already folded.
