  1. I want Notre Dame to win. However, UND has speed and they got smoked by BC. Notre Dame is NOT as fast as BC. BC has been playing incredible hockey for the past 7 games. I think this is going to be 4-2 BC.
  2. I hereby second this based on the Parise reference and the fact that he is sly in colluding "sane" members of SS.com's poster regiment into agreement with him on occasion! Seriously, Trioup, I expected nothing less after a loss in the Frozen Four. It happend the last 4 years. It happened after the 1-0 DU loss. I admit I am a bad fan of Minnesota pro sports. After growing up a fan of the teams, I've grown cynical and abusive towards their philosophies to the point where I actively root against them. So, I guess I'll sieve myself on that one.
  3. Because up until this season, Walski was a practice goaltender. And it didn't matter who was playing goal at the time, our defense and offense were nonexistant so it wouldn't have mattered anyways. And Eades after the game told us why: "Lamoreaux got us here." Yes, your rational is somewhat sound (as proved by Michigan doing so and win...oh wait), but I don't think Walski would have done anything. Please close this thread before it turns into another Hakstol or JPL bashing thread. Thanks.
  4. A reasonable alternative, to be sure.... but what about Jones? Steady, solid, doesn't make many mistakes, not flashy, doesn't take penalties (ok...that's not really Sioux captain-esque ). VV might sign. Duncan might go too. If so, we could see both Genoway and Jones wearing a letter. Heck, maybe Martens will wear a letter. I don't know how much more that guy could do for his team off the ice and in practice. He did have a great year this year too all things considered.
  5. We are in Michigan's position: into the offseason. But, I am happy Michigan lost. BC is much faster than Notre Dame.... I think BC is going to win it all.
  6. Sorry if you took me seriously. I wasn't trying to make a dig at your or nothing. Guess I came across too harshly. My apologies. If you'd like I'll delete the post.
  7. Well, if the NHL and the NCAA get their way, 1st rounders and top end NHL draftees with size won't be going the DI route due to the removal of control over their draftees (the whole thing about not being allowed to sign players out of college before a certain time)... so the logical thing to do is to go the opposite direction. Go for projects and long shots with strong upsides in one facet of the game and try to balance it out with grinders and role players. This, imo, would open the path to small, extremely fast players who would normally not garner much attention by big programs like MJ or the NHL due to their small size. So, we could see more 5'6 or 5'7" players. By the way, this is COMPLETE speculation based on OPINION. I'm probably wrong, but who cares. It's my OPINION!
  8. Whooo! Right over your head! Miami went up 2-0 easy on BC before BC calmly scored 3 straight goals in something like 2 minutes or less. I was referring to the fact that Notre Dame had complete control of the game going into the last half of the game and then pissed away the lead just like Miami did vs. BC.
  9. I guess I don't care much...as long as Michigan doesn't get it. Notre Dame, BC, don't care. Good for them. Actually, in a way, I'd like ND to win. That way the hockey fans can go over to the football fans and say "Hey! I guess some Notre Dame DI teams DON'T suck!"
  10. Please! I can't believe I'm saying this (as a Red Wings fan) but... GO AVs! I'd love to see Detroit take down Colorado (if that's even possible... I don't really pay much attention to NHL "bracketology" if you will).
  11. Is it Notre Dame playing or is Michigan playing Miami?
  12. I think Finley will go pro. However, if Washington was smart, because of the time it takes for big D to develop (Washington is finding that out now with Sasha Pawkoluk formerly of Cornell I think), they might as well get one more of those years for free. I'm curious who is going to step up to be the leader for the team. Duncan as Captain with Assistants going to VV and perhaps Jones? What is the personality of our team next season going to be like? How fast will our freshmen acclimate to the WCHA? Also, isn't Bruneteau coming in next year too?
  13. This year you are absolutely right. However, historically, I disagree. You don't gather something like 39 or 40 DI titles as a conference by simply being all tough during the regular seasons.
  14. No. This year BC beat us with speed and intuition. Last year an unfortunate check by Finley on Gerbe (I think...well anyways a short guy) cost us that one. The year previous to that we played poor defensively but was a very young team. The only "shoulda" was the 1-0 loss to DU, imo.
  15. Notre Dame winning would make the BC win more bearable in my opinion. Then a Cinderella NC victory by Notre Dame would seal the deal.
  16. With the talent we had we couldn't cut it. The entire team played poorly. That's how it happens to be. It sucks, but it was true. Very disappointing. VERY disappointing and I'm pissed too, but firing people isn't going to make a difference.
  17. Please! Just join in and fry the guy. He's going to go pro anyways and it will make you feel better! (dripping sarcasm, siouxnami. Seriously, I agree with you 100%)
  18. That was an amazing play. Apparently both BC and UND thought it was a penalty. The officials decided not to call one. I mean, the BC player who hit Chorney even stopped playing! Was it a penalty? Hopefully someone who was at the game will chime in because there wasn't a good camera angle on it. It could have been a knee to knee or a knee to thigh or a knee to groin or a stick to any of those places. I couldn't catch it. It was barely on camera.
  19. I can respect that FULLY.
  20. You don't have to be happy, but you don't have to fly off the handle either. Flying off the handle includes: 1. Scapegoating - Any time you blame an entire team's problem in a loss on one or two players, that's scapegoating. Please don't take offense to this, but anyone (not meaning you specifically) who scapegoats is retarded and not a true fan. 2. Calling for administrative changes - The coach can only do so much. He didn't cause Genoway to make mistakes, or the Sioux to play so poorly. The team played like crap. Not Hakstol's fault. He set up the game plan and trained them according to what SHOULD have been able to put the Sioux in position to win. The fact that the team let down the game plan isn't his fault.
  21. WOW! An amazing insight. Thank you! I wasn't expecting this kind of analysis. Instead, I was expecting 5 threads announcing rejoice on Finley signing, 10 threads on firing Hakstol (this one is a good start), and other crap. Thank you. I appreciate this post.
  22. We lost a game in the Frozen Four. Any way you put it.... 1-0, 12-0, 3-2, OT, whatever, it's going to sting. What makes a fan a true fan is how they handle the loss. Right now, a lot of "fans" aren't showing themselves in a classy manner.
  23. DING! You win! On this note: CLOSE THIS THREAD. egf, take a walk for a while.
  24. Here's hoping we can make it close at least. Go Sioux!
  25. Well there is an exclamation point.
