Miami didn't play Alaska-Fairbanks. I think you mean AFA.
-
In case you were wondering if Minnesota could win if they just let Kangas play D by himself.... 2-1 Eagles. It should be 2-0 Eagles if it weren't for a boneheaded play by Muse. Oh... I don't know who to root for. Minnesota? A Minny win keeps 3 WCHA teams alive for today and shuts Norton up (another HEA team bites the dust). BC? Better team wins. Minny doesn't belong in the NCAAs anyways... Rooting against a team whose fans always root against us anyways so why root for Minny? A Minny win may help us because the two teams that have had UND's number in the NCAAs recently have been DU and BC... Don't know.

Very much. Norton only wanted Princeton to win because it would keep a connection to the East in the Midwest Bracket. Now that the Tigers are out, Norton has no love for any team in that bracket. He'll only now mention it if required. I almost want UMN to win today so that Norton can cry along with the Tigers.
-
I find this rather disturbing. I don't think Norton has been this way in the past. Sure, he's no friend of the WCHA, but he's never been this disrespectful towards any particular program to my knowledge. Oh well.

I'm NOT last place! WOO HOOOOOO!!!!

No. From what I've seen/listened to, non-WCHA officials have had their moments, but overall I think they've done a better job in what I've seen than WCHA officials have thus far.

Imagine if Paquet had kept his cool. It would have been 4 on 4 and Palushaj wouldn't have scored on the easiest wrap around I've seen in a VERY long time. Seriously, if Leggio plays like that, Michigan will win 7-0. And no, Kolarik is close, but not Robbie Earl. If it was Earl, then his gloves would have flown off and ended up behind the net/at center ice. Earl would also have stayed down long enough to get the trainer out there too. That way he might have been able to get a double minor or a major out of it. Kolarik apparently already has confronted the officials over some non calls or something to that affect. It's what you get for hanging around TJ Hensick so much.

Well, Air Force gave Miami its money's worth...well.. Volkening did anyways. AFA is CLEARLY a one trick pony. Volkening was amazing. Zatkoff was great too, but Miami dominated later in the game because AFA has ZERO stick handling ability. They play the winner of the BC/Minny game right? I'd say this: Miami's season ends tomorrow regardless. They got REALLY LUCKY today. Still, it is the second game in which I predicted the correct outcome. Does UW winning work to our advantage?

I was in a way. I look at it this way. CC dominated in shots, but MSU dominated in goals. MSU had the ideal that I criticize UND for lacking during the rough stretch early in the season in the fact that a good percentage of their shots early on found twine. The first period was dominated by CC, but when MSU scored their first goal, it was alllllll over. CC didn't do badly in shots, but it did lay an egg.

Here are a few of my ideas: 1. Rework the entire system of fouling. If a guy merely bumps into the other guy, it shouldn't be a foul. Contact happens. Let it pass. 2. Make fouls HURT! Each Free Throw should be 2 points, not one. Make every foul accumulated within the final 2 minutes of regulation cost 4 free throws instead of just 2. That way, you'd be retarded to foul a guy in the final minutes of the game. 3. Raise the hoops. Everyone and their moms can dunk nowadays. Make it so that truly only the amazing players can once again dunk. 4. Reduce the number of playoff games. In the NBA, make the opening rounds a best of 3 and all subsequent rounds best of 5. In the NCAA, choose one: NCAA or NIT. If you choose the current NCAA system, then shut down the NIT. You don't need it. It's kind of like the Bowl system. You don't need 165 Bowl games. You just need the top 20 playing in a Bowl game and that's that.

They were just in it for the participation ribbons and subsequent banner.

Don't give Frank points for originality. He stole that from John Madden. DUH!

Wow! You rock. Next year, I'm going to put either the sure wins (UND and perhaps any team that plays the AHA or CHA) or UND in the win column and then after that, go for every team I think would lose on paper. That way, my bracket so far would be 100% dead on right now.

Basketball is only worth it if you are playing with friends. If it is in the least bit competitive (meaning like in a league or intramurals or something like that) there has to be some sort of fun you see it in even if you lose or it is completely a waste of time. If me and 5 of my buddies want to go out and play a little 3 on 3, cool! I'm up for that. Just don't ask me to watch a bball game or go out for a team. Not going to happen.

I think ND beat UNH by getting the puck past Regan 4 more times than UNH got past Pearce.

Yup. CC can go home tonight feeling like idiots. They had everything going for them. They had a great talent set, good D, a goaltender playing at the top of his game. The only thing MSU had on CC was experience in the Frozen Four and a FF quality goaltender. Funny, they couldn't overcome it. MSU looked UNSTOPPABLE tonight. CC looked like...well, like they were just happy to have made the NCAAs. Well, congrats. Have a nice off season.

Precisely. If freshmen are learning about this issue in this way, then the problem isn't insensitivity on the part of UND students. It's about UND having admission standards that allow the criminally retarded (not to be confused with mentally handicapped people...those people aren't that way voluntarily) into college. I kind of see freshmen seeing this as a learning experience like this: You see, when I was growing up, my mom brought me in front of a burning candle and said "This is fire. It is hot. If you touch it, you will get hurt and you will cry. It is an owie if you touch it. Do you understand?" She did NOT wait for me to stick my hand in the flame before explaining to me that sticking my hand in fire is bad. The freshmen or any UND students who call this a "wake up call" or a "learning experience" should immediately be re-evaluated academically and out-processed. This isn't a learning experience. This is an act of sheer retardedness. There is nothing to learn here that you shouldn't have already learned before participating in it. Make Universities places for the academically privileged. Don't let idiots in, regardless of how much money they have, where they come from, their ethnicity, or any other circumstances.

Forgive me mafiaman for coming across incorrectly. From what I'm hearing, it seems like the officials are calling it the way the NCAA wants it. The WCHA calls it the way they see the situation calls for it, depending on a ton of variables, the part of the season we're in, the rankings or perceived skill level of the opponents, and perhaps the occasional calls to promote parity. As I adapted what Woog said during the MSUM/UMN tilt, the WCHA has more interpretations of the rule book than lawyers have interpretation on the word "injury."

Lucky. My friend dragged me to Tailgators last night to endure the Xavier vs. WVU game. Luckily I only had to endure the last 5 minutes of regulation and the 5 minutes of OT (something around 1.5 hours). The neat thing in basketball is that you can use fouls to benefit you. Or fouls can benefit you to begin with. In a rational sport like hockey, fouls (called penalties in this case) actually hurt you. Imagine if fouls weren't something you wanted to do in basketball... then again, I can't imagine. You blow on a guy with the ball in the wrong fashion and he goes to the line. It seems like a sport for tall panzies.
-
Same. Sopcast kept crashing. I deleted it from my system and, with the MSU idiots (well the color guy is anyways) unlistenable, I'm just observing.
-
Isn't it amazing how much disparity there is in the quality of officiating between leagues? MSU is used to this type of officiating. So was Michigan and Notre Dame... Clarkson took more penalties than SCSU did, but still...It's almost like the other teams had the benefit of playing under these types of rules interpretations and WCHA didn't.... I wonder why....
-
3-0. CC is nonexistant.
-
I can't get CC's radio feed to work on my computer. Now I really wish it would work. This MSU guy really sucks.
-
Yeah, they seem to be calling everything.
-
MSU scores. Not big on the MSU commentators. A lot like Santo there. Kennedy scores and the guy screams "YES!" instead of SCORES! Seriously, professionalism.
