No offense to the deceased, but if "WWW" was still alive, you bet it would be an April Fool's joke. Since he's passed away, I think it may be legit.

I could really use PCM's Coach's show spoof right now.

I'm not sure about Wheeler. On other sites, all eyes are on Philly. THey already signed 5 of their NCAA draftees. All eyes now are on Nodl. Really, Kalinski signing is interesting when Nodl has done a lot more. With offense perhaps a problem in Philly, Nodl would be the better upside than Kalinski. Far flung rumors that the NHL might go after Lasch as well. I say far flung because it would be ridiculous. Lasch WILL get signed by the NHL, but I can't see it being any different for him than it is for Duncan.

I thought it was Jack Edwards that did all the talking and Dan Moriarty who called us "South Dakota." During intermissions, Moriarty couldn't get two words in on Jack. And they didn't get us anything. They spent the entire time rooting for BC. Called a nice move by Farkas "The move of the playoffs" but failed to acknowledge that the move got him squat as Goehring made the save. They referred to Doug Flutie 1,000,000,000,000 times and generally made it seem like UND was nothing more than the Miami of the NCAA tournament that just got farther than they should have. I have no respect for them. As for "Chicken Parm," alright. Buccigross it is then. Still, it's stupid.

As long as it isn't Dan MOriarty and Jack Edwards, I'm fine.

Pardon my cynicism, but good night may be more in reference to the rush. TJ's dangling abilities are nice, but they fool very few, forwards or otherwise. Though not as obnoxious, it's a lot like Kessel's "one move wonder." I'd rather him deke, pass or just shoot the puck than try to dangle. My opinion (which will get me flamed, I'm sure. How dare I criticize Oshie!)
-
Actually, I very much doubt we'll be seeing any "Fighting Sioux" references. All of it will be "UND," "University of North Dakota," or "North Dakota." The NCAA is in charge remember, so Brand's agenda is in full swing.

I don't mind that. What I don't like is the term "Ripper." Seriously, a "ripper" is a really loud fart... or fragile backsided trousers on someone with a large backside. It will be interesting with Matvick in there. No Gophers or other WCHA teams to talk about.... he may be favorable to UND. Ferraro will more than likely go with the ESPN Party Line (Go BC/Michigan!). Thorne will be impartial (as well as an ESPN commentator can be), Norton will do everything but wear a BC jersey, Matvick will more than likely go "underdog" (Notre Dame/ UND). My prediction on the bias. Expect to hear a TON of Gerbe, Porter, Kolarik, "Can BC make it 3 in a row over UND?" etc. And don't take Norton too seriously. Take him like a hostile witness. It will make the stuff he says less difficult to take.

I don't know... our PK just wasn't very good last night... in fact, not much was good at all in the second period last night. The pass that led to McBain's goal was such a long pass that I felt that if we had been in our usual PK ability (what we've seen all year long) we've been able to at least disrupt the pass. UW tried to do the same thing later on in the game but with Gruehning (or something like that) taking the shot not McBain and we got a stick on the pass. Radke's first penalty, I'll agree was stupid on Radke's part, though. But I wouldn't bench him. At the Pepsi Center, though, we may see LaPoint in Marto's stead. Wouldn't be surprised if Marto played though. He wasn't very remarkable against UW or Princeton, but he has played and LaPoint has not. We'll see what Hak does. If he plays LaPoint, Hak made the right move. If Hak plays Marto, he made the right move. IMBiasedO, either way is a good move.

What about Jones' inability to grown one? Can't have a good stache if you can't grow one! And the thing I noticed is that Ryan, during his interview, gave me the impression that he's not a big proponent of wearing a mustache.
-
Kyle's first penalty was stupid of him. However, remember that UW didn't score on either of Radke's penalties. The first goal came just after Radke stepped on the ice. The second UW goal came on an absolutely retarded decision by Miller. Even so, we got ONE SOG during our PP's to UW's 7. It's a problem we're starting to have again. We're too pass happy. We rely upon one or two plays: Cross crease pass and setting up Duncan. We didn't control the center of the zone during our PPs and we couldn't get the puck to the net from the point during the powerplay. That's why I'm so vocally supportive of Kozek and Genoway. They shot the puck every clear opportunity they had just about.

YAY! A lot of worthless references to Chicken Parm! There is nothing better than endless references to inside jokes among analysts and commentators that the audience is not a part of. Makes you "part of the crew." Seriously, Ray Ferrero, maybe you should put the kabosh on that crap. Chicken Parm is a food and, unless you are willing to explain wtf they are talking about every time it is mentioned, you should drop the reference.

Watch the faceoffs between Turris and Oshie. They were continuously yapping at each other. I think Shegos got tired of it and looked for any reason to kick them out. TH whined about how much UW whined to the officials. I think Shegos did a really good job.
-
I won't lose faith in Hak. If Miller appears on the first line, then so be it. I think Miller may be a better passer and a little faster than Kozek. Kozek has a better shot, is stronger on the puck, and is better along the boards/corners than Miller. The only question I have is this: Is Miller a center? If so, that may be why Miller goes up to the first line as well. It allows Oshie to slide to the wing. Kozek isn't a center.
-
I know what you're thinking and normally, I'd agree. However, I think Shegos officiated the game VERY VERY well. The one thing I did notice, though, is that BC's short wingers are going to draw a ton of penalties due to our size.

Him along with Mapletoft!

Actually, the second UW goal was a gift to me in retrospect. After it, I thought game over, season done. So I stopped caring. So I sat back and hoped to break the shutout and make Connelly's life miserable for the remaining period of the Sioux's season. We got back into it and I got re-emotionally attached.

Here's my predictions and early match up analysis: First off, if we play like we did in OT and in the 3rd period, we'll win. If we play like we did in the 2nd period, we'll lose... BAD. We need to crash the net against BC. Muse is a good goaltender, but he cannot control rebounds. Matchup Analysis: Offense: On paper, I think UND has better scoring depth. However, in reality, BC's offense has been unbelievable throughout the HEA playoffs and the NCAAs thus far. UND's offense has been "alright." We don't shoot the puck well enough and we don't crash the net well enough. This needs to change. EDGE: BC even though Oshie has been dynamic and Duncan has been clutch. Defense: We should be the clear front runner defensively, but again, we've been giving up a TON of shots thus far and BC's defense has been ok. BC's size (or lack of it as there are at least 9 players under 5'11" on the team) will cause problems. Edge: Draw. I think both of our teams are so fast that I think both defenses will have their work cut out for them. Goaltending: Muse is a freshman goaltender. He's good, but his rebound control is atrocious. JPL has been the star of the NCAAs for the Sioux. EDGE: UND. We can argue that Muse is the worst goaltender still playing at this time. Penalty Kill: Don't know much about BC's PK unit but it looked good against UMN and Miami. UND's PK unit has been solid all year long. EDGE: UND just because we're going to need it thanks to big D checking small F. PP: No comment. I know nothing about BC's PP. Coaching: York has had UND's number the past 2 years. He may hold a slight edge over Hakstol.

Congrats to the boys. Thank you Kozek! Thank you JPL! Thank you Oshie! Thank you Hakstol for putting Kozek back onto the first line (and no thank you Hakstol for taking him off the line in the first place!)! Hey, we pulled one off! Too bad that if it were BC not UW, it would have been 6-2 BC. We can't play like this and expect to come back. Good work by so many of our players! Miller: Keep on working, buddy, maybe next year you can get back to the first line. Truly not your best game. Genoway: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for coming to UND. You and Kozek know that, when down a goal or two, being drastically out shot, you need to get the puck to the net. Not even Oshie understood that very well tonight. Oshie: Yeah, you still try that pathetic toe drag that NEVER EVER WORKS. Yeah, you try to be too cute sometimes. But thank Parise for your ability to set up plays and your never ending hard work. Kozek: You shoot the puck! I love that about you! Bina: Thanks for playing bigger than your size would think. Finley: Yeah, you made a few mistakes. Despite all the haters, I still think you were dynamite. Patrick Johnson said he'd "own you" and now you can point to the scoreboard and say "You've been owned." JPL: Thanks for bailing us out over and over and over and over and over..... Chorney: Not as dynamic as last year, but thanks for being solid. Jones: Solid personified. Anonymous to the last. Martens: Yeah, I was wrong about you. You are another Chris Porter. Malone: Next year you'll show up, I'm sure of it. Radke: Mood swings.. one second the best gritty forward on the ice. The next... Still, wouldn't trade you for anything. Kaip: Lead on! I can go on....

Miami in full blown cupcake mode. Up 2-0 they simply STOP PLAYING HOCKEY. WOW! I've never seen such a quick transition from power to suck.
-
Who cares what that majority thinks! They don't call them the "ignorant masses" for nothing. Everyone who has been on this board for the past 5 years know that all "true" Native Americans are against the nickname. All those who do not care or are supportive of the nickname have lost their heritage or worse, "hang around the fort indians."

He's covering the Atlanta/Washington Baseball tilt tonight so I'm assuming that he's switched over to baseball.

Being somewhat cynical and prone to believing in hunches, I'll voice my hunch and stick with it: Today is our big game. Last year it was get past BC, get #8. This year, I think UW is our biggest challenge. They simply destroyed DU yesterday. Not sure if UW wins, they'll win it all, but I do believe this is our biggest challenge. If we win and play Miami, we'll win. If we win and play Michigan, I think we'll win. I think BC is even beatable thanks to Muse's rebounds being bigger than the continent of North America. And we can be Notre Dame as well. It's not going to be a cake walk, but if there is any game in which the outcome is more in doubt for the Sioux, it's today's in my opinion.

I wish we were playing Miami or Minnesota....
-
It's depressing Im sure. Before the game the Gophers looked to Kangas and said "You got us, dude." Unfortunately, and as usual, Kangas is the only Gopher that came to play. He could do nothing to stop any of the goals he gave up. He simply had nothing in front of him but BC jerseys even if there was only one BC jersey surrounded by FOUR Gopher jerseys (4th goal). I would have liked Minnesota to win thinking more about it, but I guess I'll have to root for the highest ranked cupcake in recent history... Go Miami.
