Neither was Brad Elliot, Karl Goehring, Weber, Hauser, etc. All of those won NCs. Frazee supposedly was. blue chippers are nice, but they aren't the key to winning. They are subjectively selected as such by whatever criteria comes to mind, legit or otherwise. I don't care if Eidsness is or isn't a blue chipper. All I care about is that he plays well and plays hard for the Sioux.

I'm not sure which organizations you mean, but if you mean the Jewish Student Organization, then it really has changed a lot since I was the President. All we ever did was talk and go out to eat. We were basically a social club. Whenever we came down to talking campus business, most of it revolved around Jewish holiday events, getting funding to attend Jewish conventions, and wondering who the flipping heck our Advisor was (no, I'm not kidding. To this day I don't even know what he looks like, what his voice sounds like, etc. All he is to me and was to us back then was a name. For all we knew, he could have been fictitious). If the JSO suddenly became a political entity, then it is entirely on the Advisor.

I think the biggest question mark is at goal next season. 1. We have Eidsness, who has looked stellar in juniors. But he's a freshman. And, sometimes success in Juniors doesn't translate to DI (See Frazee, Jeff). I think Brad is a bit overhyped because he's the last goaltender to get NHL attention before suiting up for UND since Toby Kvalevog (he was drafted in the 8th round). I think Brad will be a far better goaltender than Toby. 2. We have Walski, who has his own bit of overhypedness to him. First, we only have one game, a game against Bemidji State, and several exhibition outings to see what Walski has. Sure, he's a capable goaltender, but is he good enough? The fact is, we still don't know. He is also "home grown" which gets the "home grown homers" out of the woodwork. Remember, there are some floating around, who seem to think that we should be like Woog's Gophers but with a twist. We should play the North Dakotans only to the point that someone else from elsewhere outplays them. Then you bench the North Dakotans to send them a message and then put them back in once the message is heard. In other words, "Play Walski because he's a home favorite." Whatever that means. Remember, Walski once made 70 saves in a game...what... 5 years ago now? Seriously, any more ridiculously retarded reasons? My point is this: If Hak decides to play Walski, GREAT! Go Walski! Go Sioux! But if he decides to play Brad win or lose, GO EIDSNESS! GO Sioux! Both goaltenders are overhyped in different ways. Both can be decent goaltenders. And the fact that Hak didn't go after another goaltender half way through the season is because he saw in Walski a great backup to Phil. Does that translate to a good starter? We don't know. Besides, if we brought in a guy mid season, he might have turned out to be another Josh Siembida.

Not sure I care. Doesn't affect UND. I'm not sure if it will even affect UMN.
-
Have you heard anything about Sidney Crosby? What about Eddie Belfour? Doesn't he have 3 years of eligibility left?
-
I think MacWilliam should come in personally. Let Fienhage and Gleason dominate the USHL for a year.
-
He was an extreme long shot. When is/was the QMJHL draft? All eyes are now on Garrett Clarke.
-
To be specific: Forney is the latest. Hunter Bishop was the last and Quinn Fylling the next. I'm not sure if there were others before Fylling. I, for one, hope Forney is recruited by UND again (or asked to return). To be fair to the previous detractors of Forney, they are right. Forney should have taken a year of juniors first.

Here's an interesting speculation coming out of the Unofficial USHL Blog. The USHL just released its protected list. Off the list: Brett Bruneteau On the list: Mike Cichy This poses an interesting speculation: Cichy stays one more year in juniors and Bruneteau comes to Grand Forks. I am not certain I understand how the protected list works, but I'm not sure Tri City would waste a protected slot on a player who isn't returning next season.

That's probably because his mom made him wear the sweatshirt before he went to Target.

Kompalla (the ref) might not have lasted long in today's NHL or International competition, but one thing is for certain: If Shepherd is willing to keep Don Adam... why wouldn't he go after Kompalla. Hence: The moral of this story is, things could always be worse in the WCHA.

You're still white so you still don't count.

I'm sorry, Sioux-cia, Goon, Sicatoka (especially) but there's no rationalizing with fourwindsboy. He's beyond the "I'm opposed to the nickname" stage and into the vindictive, eye for an eye, shove it down your throats stage that got GrahamKracker into so much trouble. Now, I'm not certain fourwindsboy would go as far as GrahamKracker did, but it's just how it is. Let him post. Let him be. Let's get on with our lives. It's obvious that he's got nothing left to spew but hate. He's picking on a man who has been dead for 6 years now (He died in 2002, 1 year after the new Ralph opened). I would never pick on someone like Sitting Bull or a more recently deceased leader of the Sioux Nation because I don't feel it is an ethical or moral act to pick on the deceased. And fourwindsboy, for your own benefit, don't bother responding to my post. I've long since put you on ignore. I'm sorry, but you have been making visiting this site a major downer for me lately and I don't need such an influence. Thanks.

We aren't the Chicago Cubs of DI hockey. No need to worry.

Either that or they'll post a sign on the driving range and all holes surrounding it that says: "Watch out for flying club shrapnel" Or perhaps: "Not responsible for the play of "D" or "Q" rated golfers" -

My gaff there. I meant the Meadows all along. Anyways, I'm not in a league because they'd have to invent a new letter grade for me. I think I'd be around a "Q." I'd be worse if my chipping wasn't halfway as decent as it is. I don't seem to have trouble getting it onto the green from pitching or sand wedge distance. Everything else sucks. -
They have a SWEET 2 door hardtop convertable Mercedes Benz in the show room. Positively breath-taking.

At the Moorhead Country Club (The Meadows) driving range, I managed to nearly hit the 75 yard marker... with the head of my driver. Obviously, not the best shot ever. What makes it worse was... it was in front of the golf pro. He didn't know how to take it. He obviously wanted to laugh, but managed to hold his tongue (it was a brand name driver - Nike). I laughed because of how far it went. I never was angry but I went home pretty depressed. It was the nicest piece of sports equipment I've ever owned. I replaced my driver, but with a knockoff. I got the driver as a gift. It was a clear message that I can never have anything that nice. (Hey Goon, mikeypat -- Wish to reconsider the golf thing? -

Did you have to sign a waiver in order to visit China or can you speak to what you saw while you were there in honest terms? Sorry, Olympic reference there. This just in: What do you call the Chinese version of the Yakuza (the Japanese Mafia)? A: The Chinese Government. Not funny really... only because it's true. -
Will he pick up a new ride before leaving Grand Forks with his signing bonus or will he wait until he gets situated in St. Louis or Peoria (I think that's StL's AHL affiliate)? Damn... You all (especially Gopher fans) think Grand Forks is pretty much a Luddite community... go to Peoria. The way I've heard it described is this: In Illinois you have Northern Illinois down to Chicago. Then you have St. Louis in Missouri to the south. In between St. Louis and Chicago is Arkansas. And, trust me.. Peoria is another world.
