    Walski

I would have liked Beiswenger or perhaps even Chris Vardy to walk on. No, I'm not saying this because they would give JPar or Phil a run for their money. I'm saying that because then our forwards would get practice against a big goaltender. Beiswenger is 6'2 and Vardy (or is it Vandy?) is 6'4". They wouldn't play anyways. It's just nice to get practice beating a big goaltender. Walski would do the trick as well.
  2. Now you are just getting obscene and gross.
  3. Actually, if Penn State started up a DI hockey program, they could rename the CHA anything they want. If they want to call it the BTHC, find 4 more hockey programs to join it and you've got it.
  4. I asked if there was a way to actually have decent volume in the arena. I was told that they can't for fear of blasting the ears off the old farts walking along the concourse. I always knew that they would have a great sound system and an organ that could have been ommitted because they'll either never get used or they'll never get used to their potential.
  5. We're beating a dead horse here. Let the darn thing rest.
  6. I wasn't clear. What I mean by pregame is all the time before the opening puck drops in which the team is not on the ice. I was told that the team chooses the pregame skate music. Sioux-cia: Figures that they wouldn't. They had more than one shot of the crying hockey player. They did a version with the guy in a CC jersey as well. I wish they could have done a two person video with one being a ref and the other throwing a temper tantrum a la 2 year olds. Then again, I also wish the band could play three blind mice, but neither are going to happen.
  7. That music is great compared to what we had to listen to while waiting for warmups. The band would be a wonderful filler between puck drops but they don't have the material and certainly not the chops to do it. Admittedly, the band got INCREDIBLY better this past season than in years past (including the time when I was in the band), but to be named the #1 music maker, you've got to bring a lot to the table. Cheryl Crow and showtunes aren't going to cut it. That being said, if I hear John Denver or Dave Matthews (like him, but he's not a sports event type of music provider) again, I'll scream. And that song "Charlene" (or Darlene. DOlly Parton or who sang that?). Please, stab out my eardrums! The band needs more music and practice time (both to improve and to keep up the improvements already made) and the guy who chooses the pregame, game, and post game canned music needs to be thrown from the roof to the waiting cement below.
  8. Bah. I hate the offseason even more now. I want to know these things!
  9. Ok, sorry for a new thread that isn't NECESSARILY Sioux hockey related, but it is hockey related. I didn't know Don Adam reffed in the ECHL!!! Ok, so it isn't a head ref and it isn't Adam, but it is still funny! God I need October to be here.
  10. For a few notes: I'm not positive that will happen to Miller. He seemed to have the surgery for his rotator cuff before Murray had his sugery. Since all the info I've found point to a recovery period of up to 6 months, that would put Miller's return to action before Murray's (assuming if Murray's injury takes 6 months as well to heal). Second, there is no indication that Kaip won't be ready for next season. I would expect him to face conditioning issues as one doesn't sit out more than half of a season and expect to jump in at 100 percent after an offseason on top of it. Third, if there were a third goaltender added to the team, there may not have been any press about it, but there would have at least been a name or a roster update.
  11. Though not a hockey player, his cousin is a golfer. Yup, his name is Sand Trapp
  12. Wasn't it this "head casedness" that got him kicked off that European team a while back? Or did he just go crazy and walk away?

  14. I believe Marto will be good and we'll see how he does in juniors. However, this next year will be a great one for him. He's in juniors, yes, but he has no class load to juggle. I am not familiar enough with juniors to say what he would do normally if he wasn't in school. Perhaps he'd work in the town he lived in. I don't know, but whatever it is, Marto is going to have a lot of time to work on his game and his physique.
  15. As would I. Unfortunately, both are in 11th Grade.
  16. Thanks for the explanation. It makes a lot of sense, except in these two players' instances. First, Dowzak plays at SSM, an experience that could easily (though not always) transfer immediately to a DI team. I know that Porter, JPar, Duncan, and all played juniors before coming to UND (or is playing juniors) however Dowzak plays as well as any player currently playing D and he's only a junior. Assuming there's no slot for him in 2006, would he turn down an opportunity to play for another WCHA team to spend a year in juniors and take a schollie to UND? I'm betting no. As for Finley, he's already spent a year in juniors and will spend next year in juniors as well. Maybe we can get both, we may not even be recruiting Finley. But in any case, after a quality prep school experience or, in Finley's case, 2 years already of junior hockey, don't you think you'd take the "right now" instead of "just a little later?"
  17. Not necessarily.
  18. Yeah, that's true. But how many players would turn down a scholarship right out of high school for another scholarship that depended upon a year in juniors? Oh, and I read somewhere that Esposito wanted to play in the Q. Does anyone know where that info is or am I dreaming that up?
  19. "Who is more foolish? The fool, or the ones who follow him?" Obi-Wan Kenobi
  20. I agree, but I guess I always go with the gut feeling of "Who can give me the playing time right now" and not spend a year in juniors.
