Thanks for ruining my logic Didn't know. I missed the game because Northwest Airlines couldn't find another airliner to replace the broken one sitting on the ground in Minneapolis I could've looked it up but... I'm lazy. Nevertheless, though, Phil lost the game 1-0 not because Phil played poorly. I think our team can win regardless of who is in net provided they actually come out ready to play good, smart, and fundamentally sound hockey.

If he's not injured anymore, LET HIM PLAY!!!!
-
I guess it is one of the "Bovine trifecta:" Landcows: MSUM Snowcows: MTU Huskies Seacows: UAA
-
I didn't make it up. I could have SWORE I saw it in writing that each college arena was required to have a student section of some sort....

Everyone talks about Gagner being on the fence between MJ and NCAA. Mueller committed to Minnesota before deciding to go MJ. Since everyone's been saying Gagner was going to MJ before he committed to UW, I'll wait to see him in a Badger uni before saying good catch for UW.

A split. Mankato wins on Friday and we win on Saturday. To make matters worse, the Friday loss will be embarrassing. A note to say that the Friday loss won't be Phil's fault really. The goaltender alone doesn't make the team. UND lately has been coming out slow on Fridays. Against talented teams or determined teams it doesn't matter how "hot" the goaltender is. Look at Jordy's last loss. It was the Harvard game. I don't care what you think about Jordan, but how do you play a game like Jordan did and lose? I mean, he made ONE mistake and it cost him. Does that mean that Jordan's a poor goaltender? That he didn't come to play? I looked at the scoreboard and I saw that 0 underneath the UND portion of the scoreboard and I thought that spoke much more than goaltender "hotness." If we are to start winning it doesn't just come down to the goaltender. We have two quality goaltenders (Yes, Jordan is a great goaltender) It comes to two basic things: Offense and team defense. Goaltenders who can steal games all by themselves are very rare. That's why Karl Goehring was so special. Phil and Jordy have moments of this type of play but it is extremely irrational to expect that kind of performance from ANY goaltender! Therefore we HAVE to play better IN FRONT OF our goaltender and THAT is the main issue here, not who should be the #1 goaltender.
-
Indeed they do. The NCAA prohibits any arena hosting a collegiate game to not have a student section... at least during regular season play.
-
Generally, you're right... barring injury. In 2000, Blais fully intended to ride Goehring all playoffs long but a concussion took Karl out for the entire Final Five. Kollar did very well. However, if you use that argument, shep, then you're going to lose in this tandem. Phil has a big goosegg in post season play whereas Jordan's numbers are pretty darned good. I doubt Hakstol would put anyone but Jordy in net for the NCAAs unless Jordy seriously melted down. However, I wouldn't be surprised, if Phil kept this up, if Phil gets some playing time at the Final Five.

I would have gone to the game if I didn't live 85 miles away and if I didn't have to house and dog sit on top of it. I remember the last women's game I was at was against Wisconsin a few years back. The announcer was doing intros for the Badgers and he couldn't figure out who was playing what position introducing a defenseman (Defensewoman?) as the goaltender and vice versa. It was quite embarrassing so I yelled out "Sorry ladies, he's new!" Two of the Badger ladies looked over at me and smiled, laughing as well.

Oh my god! Dude, you just went from alright to White trash in my book! ' 1993 Sunbird? Oh my god! I think half the scrap aluminum in Fargo-Moorhead used to be on a Sunbird! Next thing you know is that, if that Sunturd doesn't last, you'll replace it with a 1985 Chevrolet Citation or perhaps a 1979 Chevrolet Chevette!

I doubt sagard, Greyeagle, and even WPoS do those things at the games. I'm also sure that 90 percent of the Mariucci crowd doesn't do those things. The chants are really stupid and infantile, but I don't think that makes them classless. We have our own stupid infantile chants. We say the "Gophers suck" all the time! It's the PC crowd that doesn't understand that when the Gopher fans yell "Sioux suck" they are talking about the sports team and not the people. I've always maintained that no one has to like a particular program, but respecting them whether they are undefeated or winless should be part of the deal. That means no insensitive signs, no throwing stuff onto the ice before, during, or after the game (unless it is a hat after a hattrick or an intermission game like "Chuck a Puck"), and so on. I guess the Mariucci crowd did not show good behavior this past weekend and I think Diggler and gang have it right on: The main people to blame for this is whoever was the dunce that thought that there wasn't a need for tighter security at this series. I would think that, for home series vs. UND and UW, there would be very tight security.

I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'll disagree. Phil and Jordy are very similar in quality. Jordy's been around longer and is proven in the playoffs. How can you argue with Jordy's 1.50 GAA and .9415 Save% in post season play? What I do believe is that Jordy's really the goaltender the Sioux play best for and, for that reason, Phil cannot be named #1. Phil's played REALLY well, so I understand how it isn't fair to name him #2. Hence, the goaltender rotation.
-
Sioux Habi-it, How about this post above yours?
-
In all fairness, I don't think they do. I mean, it's hard to say "Look at us! We're really stocked with prize recruits" after losing Esposito, Crosby, and Toews the past few years.
-
I agree. He's a dangerous player on both sides of the rink. PLUS he has size.
-
I'm all for the goaltender rotation. As I see it Phil hasn't done poorly enough to lose game time. Neither has Jordy. So why slight either one of them? Jordy plays Fridays, Phil takes Saturdays. Works for me.
-
It doesn't? Gosh... if Frazee knew where Zajac's shot was going to go before it left his stick, I think we'd have seen overtime! Or maybe Frazee could have picked up that the rebound he gave up was going to go off his stick and onto Toews' and he could have seen how to make that save? Imagine, Slap Shot, since you DO know where that puck was going to go if you used it in a practical application! You'd be the first goaltender to ever finish the year with a 1.0000 Save%!!!!!!!! Get off these boards and onto the ice!

So you are trolling but trying to be clever? Saying we suck but we're good? We're classless fans but Minny's isn't so much? Making fun of the fact that we ended the game feeling really good about ourselves because we managed to come back from three straight TERRIBLE games vs. Minnesota to at least salvage one? Have you read ANY of the Sioux posters thoughts on Minnesota this series? Where is the slams? All I saw were "Gosh the Gophers are good." Or "Boy, we deserved that loss tonight." "My goodness the Gophers can pass." And so on. So, please, why so surprised when we are happy to have won the game? Why so upset that we call Minny fans on "Robbie Bina rides the short bus" signs and throwing stuff at our players? I don't recall our fans throwing anything at the Gopher players at the Ralph... at least this year. If there was any the previous years I certainly didn't hear about it. Get over yourself and rewrite your post. Either be gracious in your loss or maybe compliment only posts or maybe just go back to GPL and go flame us. After all, they are saying things alot more up your alley like "Lammy shouldn't have just gotten trash thrown at him." And "Sue this." And "Sue That." I think you'd enjoy it.
-
I would indeed agree with this if you didn't use the "Fighting Halos" bit as much as or more than Sioux fans use the "UND is perfect" bit. I don't recall any of us claiming Minnesota's fans as being classless compared to our fans. I know darn well that there are bad fans at the REA. The nice thing, if you are a visiting fan or in the general public, is that now the AD is convinced it's just the students. So all the idiots I've come across at the REA, none of which were in the student section, are immune to the behavior restrictions... but I digress. So no, not everything about UND is perfect. In fact, in certain areas, I think UMN has it much better than we do. This is, however, a different discussion.

dagies, they said the knee thing before they saw the replay. It was pretty much dead air after they saw that there was no knee. The homerism of the day was the Vanelli coming in on Smaby thing early in the game. "Whoa! Smaby starts taking swipes at Vanelli" When it was clear that Vanelli came in while the puck was frozen and checked Smaby. I have no doubt that Smaby said something to Vanelli that set him off, but Vanelli threw the first jab, not Smaby. That's ok, Masucko did his usual BS and Woog called it fairly decently. Kaip IS trying to find his game and he IS playing awfully hard out there but it's just not coming for him just yet. As a sophomore, I can say that most of the freshmen are further along than he is. It's simply depressing. I think Kaip is a lot better than he is showing us on the ice. I just don't know what can be done to get his game up. I actually think Kozek had a nice weekend. He didn't make much noise on Friday but no one did. He works damn hard every game. I got to respect that. The 3rd period was a gift to us. Campion finally let go and decided to let the boys play and it worked wonderfully. It was really even until Minny started giving up odd man rushes. Zajac's goal was simply the type of shot that smart players make. Everyone was looking pass and he head faked Frazee into hesitating and bango, it's in the back of the net.

Their JV team

You were right... if you take out tonight's third period. The fourth line was Watkins, Kozek, and Duncan. That line was heard from in the first period (kozek goal) and had CONSIDERABLE ice time in the 3rd period.
-
Actually, IIRC, Toews didn't fall at all. I thought he was listed as 3rd overall anyways. EJ went from #5 to #1 with his WJC play. This is good and bad news for the Gophers. Good news because the more Kessel falls, the longer he'll be with the Gophers. And bad news because there is a real possibility that they'll never dress EJ in a game.

On Monday the Senators play the Wild. It's on FSN at 7pm. I plan on watching.
