No doubt about it. Kessel may have been the best scorer the US had, but Oshie played the best IMO.

I agree. Here's my personal pros and cons of MTU leaving: Pro: 1. Geographically better suited to CCHA or even CHA. 2. Moving to the CHA and perhaps even the CCHA might give MTU a more competitive edge and with that, a possible return to glory? 3. Easier to compete with CHA teams for recruits than WCHA teams. Cons: 1. McNaughton and all the history behind it. 2. MTU hasn't always been a patsy. We'd be getting rid of an "old" WCHA franchise. 3. In the "game" of "fairness" the last one in should be the first one gone, and henceforth, MSU Mankato should be the one gone. Life isn't fair, but anyways...

I'm sincerely happy for him. Let's hope he continues his consistent play.

Not that I'd support the Gophers, but it further proves the state of WCHA officiating. And by the way, YAY TRAVIS!!!

Oh hell yes! Not to mention the academic buildings and residence halls! Maybe allocate some to the student government to be used to buy out 3 lower bowl sections to be turned back into the Old Ralph atmosphere wise? I'd say four, but we gotta be realistic. And while we're at it, let's turn the Nickel trophy into a statue in front of the Hyslop right on the corner perhaps? Have the Nickle surrounded in bronze and put permanently into a bronze statue of perhaps Digger hoisting it above his head, or perhaps the trophy being used like a Football, tucked under an arm?

I'd be happy with just enough goals to win the game be it 1 or 12

I never said, nor meant to say, that Minny's PP was a weakness. However, I believe (even for the Sioux) that if you get over a minute of 5 on 3 time, you should score. I mean, 5 of you, 3 of them. Can't you make anything happen? I knew Minny's PP was VERY good which is why I'm quite degrading towards that 5 on 3. With the way you guys were able to move the puck around, I don't see how you couldn't have made one count. All I'm saying is, if we can play well, then a scattering of minors won't hurt us. To say that we have to play penalty free is like saying the officiating has to be 100 percent consistent. Neither is going to happen, but penalty free play is more possible... Oh well.

Since the money isn't there for me to go to the game on Saturday is there anything at Sensers for the Saturday game?
-
We're coming off of a series in which we were penalized the least amount of times. Maybe that means something. Maybe it's because Albers let everything go except for two BS checking from Behind penalties. And, if Minny can't score on 1:48 of 5 on 3 hockey against a "powerhouse" like Niagara, a scattered penalty here and there isn't going to hurt us.

Goon- Then I stand corrected. However, be that as it may, I'd still rather have Jordy in nets. Even if it is Jordy on Friday and Phil on Saturday.
-
I guess. I just don't find it very professional for commentators and announcers to not make the effort to learn and say the names of all the players on the ice. I can understand if the announcers forget a name or two as there can be so many, but resorting to nicknames and falsities (like Nigeria for Niagara) is just unprofessional. At least it is his nickname then and not something derived off the top of his head (ala ESPN's Edwards dubbing Karl Goehring "short stuff" in 2000)

I don't believe Jordan's play cost us the games the first time around. Last time I checked we didn't really do well when the puck was in the Gopher zone. If we don't play well as a team, I don't care if Belfour, Casey, Goehring, or God him/herself is in net, we won't win! And as for seeing Phil in net, you will see him in net. I agree that he may just have the hot hand. Especially since there's no telling if Jordy will play at all this weekend. For all we know, the injury could be serious enough to force him to miss some time. Jordan has done too much for this team to simply be relegated to backing up Phil. If you recall last year, Jordan started getting hot and he's still amazing as a playoff goaltender. Jordan's been as close to a #1 goaltender as we've had since Karl wore the number 1.
-
I guess I don't agree with Shep. We've played much better with Jordy in net. Phil lets in his share of soft goals if that's the primary factor. I really think that if Jordan plays, our chances of winning will be that much better. He can steal games. So far, Phil's had one REALLY good game (Saturday, UAA) and 2 good games to go with 2 or 3 bad games and 2 or 3 games where the D and O just didn't help him. We know Phil will play at least one of the two games. No idea if Jordy will play either game because no one has a clue as to how severe the injury is. We'll probably know better Wednesday.

There is a SMALL chance I'll be at the Saturday game. If I am, I'd love to meet you all (especially those Gopher rubes sagard and Greyeagle. I also believe I owe WPoS a beer?)

Agreed on all counts. I really like what Radke brings to the team. He's absolutely WORLDS better than he was last year. In any case, it's now off to Minnesota. I watched Friday's game vs. Niagara and let me tell you a few things that I noticed: 1. Minnesota dominated that game (both games) but it wasn't because of bad goaltending on Niagara's part. It was inconsistent defensive play by Niagara and the inability to finish that kept Niagara from turning Lucia's hair white. VanNyatten, who Woog derisively called "Duchy," played EXTREMELY well. 2. Minnesota defensively was NOT sound. Niagara, especially in the third period, was simply buzzing around the net peppering Briggs with shots. Again, Niagara could have tied up the game had they found a way to finish. The opportunities were definitely there. 3. Minnesota's PP should have mopped up, but instead NIagara killed off 1:57 of a 5 on 3 PK basically. Minnesota should have been able to score. I'm not sure if they even got a shot off until it was only a 1 man advantage. Ok, maybe they did get a shot off, but nothing went in. We can beat Minnesota if we play like we did last night vs. UAA. We HAVE to score first and we HAVE to control the game. Period.

Shutout for Phil for a change!!!

Bad spot in the wall... it's a referee!! Classic
-
Who you calling psycho! And I'm as psychic as Miss Cleo.
-
Apparently Alber was out of position for the Prpich goal. If that's the case, I wonder what Brad's excuse was. I mean, refs make ticky tacky calls, that's Greg Shepherd's MO, but I've never seen or heard an official being out of position for a goal before.

UAA called for Tripping. Beaverson sits.
-
Good kill by UND. Lots of pressure.

That's the same excuse Paukovich gave for all of his penalties...
