Chorney for cross checking. Guys, we're just not playing disciplined hockey. the 5 minute major killed us and this is just sad. I mean, can't score goals from our own end.
-
Fabian's goal is nice but now it's worthless. 3-1
-
FABIAN SCORES!!!! SOMEONE DECIDED TO PLAY HOCKEY!!!!!
-
Foyt with a 5 minute major. Hear that? Another nail goes in the coffin.
-
Toews had a decent chance all tied up. I wish we could get something going. 5 shots on goal just isn't going to cut it.
-
A beautiful 4 on 5 PP for the Gophers.
-
Thank you Chorney. At least someone wasn't afraid to shoot on the Power Play. HOW MANY GOALS HAVE WE SCORED BY PASSING THE PUCK FOR 45 SECONDS???
-
The Sioux are indeed playing to lose the game. It's amazing how well Phil is playing though. I hope he keeps it up. Say what you will about the lousy officiating, but we're not giving Campion much of a choice. It WOULD be nice, however, if he would start calling penalties on the Gophers. I saw several interferences... but it wouldn't have made a difference. The first penalty in this now 5 on 3 was bunk as Wheeler grabbed his stick and fell down. Minnesota, as long as they can make the refs buy it, will forever dominate the PP opportunities. Smaby on FSN interview at the moment saying how the last meeting of this team is their motivation... Sorry, Matt, but so far, you guys are playing exactly like last time. Time for a 2nd period where our heads get out of our asses and we start playing disciplined hockey. The first thing we can do is learn how to pass. If we have to shorten our passes so that this can happen, so be it. But my goodness it's killing us! Second, clearing the zone. We have to find some way to get the puck out of our zone. Third, we have to start scoring. We're down 1. We'll probably be down 2 if Minny keeps passing the way they have been doing. We have to start getting quality opportunities. PERIOD. 3 shots on goal on 8 attempts. WOW. Fourth, we have to win faceoffs. What are we at now? 9 victories on the faceoff vs 13 for the Gophers? Not good.

Not after listening to Thorne and Clement comment on our D last season. I mean, how many times can you hear "Most NHL teams would LOVE to have a defensive Corps like the one the Sioux have." or something to that effect? If you ask me, they can replay it as many times as they want.

Neither name is on the NAHL draft list either.
-
Don't know their intentions, but according to the USHL website's Recruiting section (http://www.ushl.com), neither of their names are listed under the 2005 Entry or Futures drafts. This isn't to say that they WON'T be drafted. They might be drafted in this year's draft.
-
Not bad indeed. Though I remember Commodore only spent half a season in the AHL before his first call up.
-
I agree. There doesn't appear to be many defensemen that are really jumping out at us (that haven't already committed). I do think we will need defensemen for the 2007-2008 season especially, as we'll probably be without Lee and maybe Chorney, definitely be without Smaby.... and there is a SLIGHT possibility that Finley might be gone as well (although all indicators show that he'll be around 3 or even 4 years at this point).
-
Congrats to the three! In the case of Jones and Hale, it might not be possible, but the Oilers MIGHT send Greene down to the AHL long enough for Matt to participate if they can spare him. With his recent play, however, I agree with AZSioux and say that none of them will actually be present for the game.

Thibault I thought was on Pittsburgh but the Canadiens incident had Jose Theodore doing the saves. He even dove back in to make the initial save! Seriously though, it was a good save and really, I may not be a Habs fan, but I like Theodore.
-
Thanks PCM. Toews and Lee really did sound mature. I also thought what Hak talked about was informative. And we found out about as much as I expected about Parise.
-
Wow. You know why we recruited him. A big defensive defenseman is put in the roster do get offense? Good God. Matt Greene must have been the worst player in the world to you. He had 3 goals his entire 3 year UND career!
-
I agree. Some players have come in and said "I'm going to beat the crap out of everyone and let the rest of my game develop" (IMO Smaby and perhaps Commodore and Greene came in with this idea) and some come in "I want to play a good defensive game because if I screw up, I get benched. I'll get physical later." This, IMO, describes Finley. I definitely think Finley can be a physical force. He had the PIMs in juniors to tell us that. I just think Finley is expending all of his energy trying to learn the speed of DI and still be a competant, responsible blueliner.

I agree that Campion is one, if not the most consistent official the WCHA has. As for linesman, wasn't Albers a former linesman? Also, if there are any linesmen that are going to be promoted, look for the first to have the last name Shepherd. Mark my words, it will be true. As for the last comment, blaming the game? No. Zelkin didn't cause us to get swept. Neither really did Shepherd the first time we faced the Gophers to be honest. But what we can blame them on is taking a lot of fairness away from the game. No one says they should stop calling penalties against the Sioux. Consistency is the #1 gripe that I (and most of the rest of us) have with the officiating. #2 would be the strong emphasis on situational officiating (ties in with #1) and, IMO, #3 would be no apparent standard of accountability for poor performances of officials. Costing us games isn't one of them.
-
A good call. I'd expect it to be Derek Shepherd. The nice thing about Greg Shepherd (if anything of his work could be considered that way) is that it doesn't appear as though Don Adam will officiate in a UND game. The season' isn't over, but it's never a bad thing to not be officiated by the WCHA's most dangerous official.

Sneep did indeed commit per Heisenberg to BC. O'Brien's committing has already been mentioned.
-
I agree. Besides, I have no problem with being from Fargo and saying that any team in any city in any conference anywhere in any season can have a non dominant year and vice versa. Look at Michigan in DI hockey, the Red Wings or Canadiens of the NHL (they hold 25 Stanley Cup titles and yet they are hardly dominant lately)... To say "Grand Forks will always be in the top three for years to come" is just as outlandish and as infantile as your obsenities, RCB. Sure Grand Forks schools have dominated in the past, but do you really feel that threatened by Fargo South dominating this one? I mean, seriously, if so, get a life! It's just game!

RUmor says concussion Herald says upper body injury TH says hip flexor I think no one knows but Jordan what is up.

Yeah and the one thing from Niagara games that I didn't mention was Minnesota's passing. They are GREAT passers. If the Sioux passed as well as they did, I doubt we would have split Harvard, UAA, or have gotten swept by UMN. I truly believe that a great passing game opens up a great offensive game.
