  1. There's no evidence to suggest that alcohol or drugs were involved in the SCSU case. Until such time, then, the MSUM case and the SCSU case are two different things. EDIT: I wish to clarify that there's no evidence saying it ISN'T drug or alcohol related either. I'm not trying to say BDB is wrong here. Just that there's no evidence yet to support it either way.
  2. Actually, I was thinking it took all this time because Bernie was begging Brand to let him email you a two word phrase with the first word being an obscenity rhyming with duck and the second word being the opposite of on. Unfortunately, request denied.
  3. Sorry, but when you look like this: you're going to be on a few walls.
  4. Our women's team isn't our best bet for gold, it is our best bet to medal in hockey, period. Latvia has 3 NHLers and a bunch of no names. Do we even have a single player that is on the team that isn't in the NHL or at the very least the AHL? Sorry, our talent level is WORLDS better than Latvia. We should have KILLED them. I am predicting a 4th to 6th place finish for Team USA men's hockey. These guys aren't medal favorites in my book. Gold: Canada Silver: Czech Bronze: Finland (Yeah, Finland. I would have picked Russia but they choked today too) Of course... Team USA COULD win out and prove me wrong, but all it is going to take now is one loss to take us out of medal contention. Ties are worthless, just slightly better than a loss in Olympic hockey. Sorry, my expectations are high for Team USA. But the performance today was just pathetic.
  5. Yeah because to do so meant opening fire on people who are now a minority. That's hostile and abusive. I think Texas should pay reparation to Mexico for the harsh treatment they gave Mexican citizens all those years back. Plus, they should give a sizable amount of money to Mexican Americans forced to live a life of oppression and subjugation after crossing the Rio Grande legally or illegally.
  6. Did they have photography back then?
  7. But what will I do Monday?
  8. Well... that can't be good for survival. It can be good for closure though.
  9. No more Meghan Mutrie? I was having a good day until you said that.
  10. It definitely wasn't incidental contact. The opposing player left her feet while falling to the ice. Seriously, it was a great hit. And Seriously, that's a 2 minute minor for bodychecking. I agree with the rest of your statement. Until SOME form of checking is allowed in girls hockey, I'm not sure how much of a following it will get.
  11. None that I heard of. Kai Kantola was a prospect worth checking out but he committed to LSSU I think... or Bowling Green.
  12. Not on the boards, but near the boards. I think you can see a bit of the boards in the lower corner during the hit. So, IIRC, it was nearer to the boards than open ice. Anyways, it was a hit Matt Greene or Matt Smaby would be proud of. Checking is illegal in women's hockey, so proud as the Matts would be, she'd be sitting for two minutes.
  13. Has anyone seen the US Olympics commercial that features women's hockey? It's pretty neat. Half way through it some US player just wallops another player. I immediately go "NICE!" then realize suddenly that what they featured was probably a 2 minute minor. Anyways.... Go lady Sioux! Maybe someday you'll have some Olympians on the team! (Lamoreaux sisters are being thought of as future Olympians... maybe....)
  14. There's another point of view: Some believe that those who leap at the first shot as soon as they can may end up getting the raw deal or get a player after their development stagnates or doesn't turn out to be what they wanted. An example of the raw deal is with Peter Mueller and UMN. No, Mueller isn't a bad player nor has his development stagnated by the time he left for Major Juniors, but he did leave for Major Juniors because of academic reasons (I think it was because he wanted to move on from Junior A... or whatever the NTDP was but wasn't eligible yet for NCAA play). Sure, some of the players are going to pull the trigger too soon. Jordy Christian MAY have been one of these types of players. Others wait. These are juniors in high school. There's no rush to commit even if schools make it seem so. Are we losing out on quality recruits? Perhaps, but just as well perhaps not. We landed Finley very late in the recruiting process. The same thing goes with Spirko, IIRC. There's nothing saying that we can't find a diamond in the rough somewhere or a quality recruit can't decide to wait. NOTHING in recruiting is a sure thing. EDIT: Quick statement that I hope what I say is easy to understand. Unlike many here, I'm not as good with words as I'd like to be.
  15. No, it's not a done deal until he commits, but still, I find it hard to believe that someone would say something like that and then pursue a rival of the school mentioned. I hope you are right, though.
  16. Sorry, but I find this VERY hard to believe. "I want to play for the Gophers" is what he said, no? I don't know anyone who would say "I want to play for the Gophers but I think I'll go to UND instead." He wants to play with the Gophers. The Gophers are recruiting him. If both parties feel mutually, the ONLY way Minnesota doesn't get Matson is if Minnesota can't give him what he wants (undoubtedly a full scholarship).
  17. If UMD is going to win (not saying they won't) it isn't going to be by 4 goals. If anything, it will be a 1 goal heartbreaker. Like 2-1 or 3-2
  18. Are you dissin' my hip hop, boyeeeee? P. Diddy and 50 Cent fo' life! Seriously, most people's idea of "happening" music involves rap music. Great for them, I am glad they like it. But I'll be damned if I'm going to sit in my seat and listen to P. "No talent" Diddy and 50 "wasted" Cent. The rest of rock these days seems to be whiney angsty music about how everything sucks and nothing is right in the world and it is all your/my parents'/her fault. Sorry, I hear whining all the time. Don't need it.
  19. Truthfully speaking, BSU and MSU Mankato are not good examples in this case, Dave. Both BSU and Mankato had existing DII/DIII hockey powerhouse programs before going DI. NDSU would be jumping right from club to DI. It's a much more complex situation. Please don't jump on me for saying this but: Many times I heard that was one of the main ideas behind the downtown Fargo hockey arena that has now failed what... 3 times? I'm not sure Fargo wants to build a place for NDSU to play hockey in the first place. As for is there room? Yes, I believe there is, but unfortunately it won't be in the WCHA. If NDSU were to go DI in hockey, they'd have little to no problem getting into a conference. CHA is DESPERATE for new teams. In fact, the conference will give $250,000 to the school upon entrance to the conference. Usually it's the other way around. What does this mean for NDSU/UND hockey rivalry? I don't know. Every NDSU fan I talk to, plus most of those who post here (troll or otherwise) state that NDSU isn't about hockey. It's about basketball and football. Some even call UND hockey a "big fish in a minor sport" or something like that. But if NDSU does go DI, I'm sure that UND would try to fit them in in their non conference schedule. However, for the first few years, I'm not so sure NDSU could hope for anything more than an exhibition game against us simply for strength of schedule reasons.
  20. WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Insane. Seriously, I'm stunned. I never thought something like that would happen to a team like CC.
  21. Seems to me Matson is just "going through the motions." I'd be VERY surprised if Matson committed anywhere else but Minnesota.
  22. I don't know why I thought of him as a goaltender. But anyways, is he related to Jonathan Quick? If so, I think that we're probably not high on his list.
  23. Interesting that this time around Al had the interest but didn't have the tickets. I heard the last cancellation was because of the opposite: Not enough interest.
  24. Because 2006-2007 is Jordan Parise's senior year. Which means we are looking at getting a goaltender for thw 2007-2008 year. With many teams now recruiting more than a season in advance (legal or not), UND needs to get on top of things. This Quick goaltender... isnt there a goaltender out east playing for maybe either UMass Lowell or BU that has that name? Jonathan Quick? Is Kevin a relation to him? If so, I'd be very surprised if indeed he did come west. Not that I wouldn't take him. If he's as solid as USHR implies and everyone else says for that matter, heck yeah! Let's get him! And this is especially if the rumor regarding Brad Thiessen (the rumor is: Brad wants a scholarship for next season, not 2007) is true, Quick might be a better idea.
