I'd rather sing the song "Shake your laffy taffy" or whatever it is. Tell you what: Which is more hostile and abusive? Black Betty at a sporting event or teaching kids songs about how to shake their asses? And by kids, I mean 6, 7, 8 year olds. Please.

No thanks. Imagine the questions that would be asked if a bunch of strangers met on the internet were traipsing through some young girl's room!

Seems to be. That was sort of a cheeky thing I put in there. I mean, when's the last time we had a goaltender that was 6' or taller? I think Kvalevog was 6'0 or 6'1... but gosh, I don't know... Seriously though, a goaltender with size would be an interesting thing to see in a Sioux uni.

Well, Brad Thiessen hasn't committed anywhere yet, but all the speculating is that he wants to go somewhere next year. So, how about keeping an eye on Chris Rawlings of the Silver Arm Silverbacks (BCHL)? He's doing very well in his rookie year, he's 17 at the moment which would mean that he's a 2007 recruit anyways... Oh wait. There's a problem. He's 6'5" 200lbs. That's 6 full inches taller than what is apparently the height line on Sioux goaltenders. Anyways, he's doing alright despite sharing goaltending duties with some older goaltenders. (19GP 11-4 with 3 shut outs, 2.55 GAA, .9156 Save%). The only thing with big goaltenders like Chris would be lateral movement. Bigger guys have trouble going side to side. Wilbur would probably be a better source of info on the effects of size on goaltending (since he's so darn knowledgeable about goaltenders as it is). There are others like Jordan White of Penticton who is worthy of watching even though he's played less games than Rawlings, had a shakier first 7 outings (which hurts his career BCHL stats) and is still 3 inches above the Sioux goaltender height line. Keyvan Hunt of the Victoria Salsa has done well despite playing for a bad team this year. Again, he had a notverygood first half of the season in the BCHL and is 5 inches above the height line. Lastly, for now, Brad McInnis of Merritt. Despite being Thiessen's teammate, this 6'3" 200# goaltender has respectiable numbers in 20 appearances this season. In the USHL, Alex Kangas (Sioux Falls -- 1987), John Murray (Sioux Falls also -- 1987), Aaron Rock (Tri City -- 1987), and Bryan Hogan (Lincoln - 1988) are worth keeping an eye on. You can find all of their stats here. If that link doesn't work, go to USHL's website, click "stats" on the toolbar on the top of the page, and then choose "Goalie Leaders" under the pull down box.

Until the year of graduation doesn't mean the day of graduation. If I graduate, being a draft pick of Edmonton, on May 14th, I don't become a free agent that day. At the earliest, I'd have until June 1st to be signed. There is NO WAY the NHL would prevent a drafted player from graduating if that is what the player and the drafting team wished. You are right about Oshie. He won't be around for his senior year, but I used him as an example. However, using Chris Bourque, who initially left due to looming academic issues to an MJ team and ended up signing with Washington and Jimmy Howard (who was pursued by Detroit not because of the CBA, but because they were in need of goaltending depth this year instead of waiting until after his senior year) aren't very good examples. Ben Walter's signing, from what I read, was surprising as was Ben Eaves' signing however, despite Bertagna's words, it's not conclusive that the CBA is what got Walter and Eaves to "sign on the dotted line." What's to say that they didn't get a deal they liked and jumped at it? I mean, Walter fits that mold perfectly. Eaves plays for a team that didn't have a whole lot of NHL talent at the time he was signed so his perception was "Maybe I can make the big show right away." I mean, if you were at Ben's point at BC and saw that Pittsburgh wanted to sign you and you had a chance of making the NHL right away, wouldn't you jump at it? Again, once I find the actual CBA, it will be clearer.

Ah, now I see what you are saying. I misunderstood what you were saying as "NCAA players must now be signed 2 years after being drafted." I understand what you are saying. I still believe that they have the span of 90 to 180 days to be signed post graduation (which I have assumed to be the day after the DI NC game regardless of whether your team is in it or not). Like I said, I'll keep on looking, but if it is INDEED the same as the old one, KTF, then a graduating drafted player would then have 180 days (plus any days afterwards up until June 1st if any) to be signed by their parent club before becoming an UFA.

Still waiting to figure out what this all has to do with UND football... Anything? At all? If not, moderator, please close this thread.

KTF is right. Apparently the new CBA isn't available in its entirety as every time I search for it, I only come up with the old one. But I'm POSITIVE KTF is wrong. EDIT: Ok, I still haven't found the actual CBA, but I did dig up an article on INCH (yeah, I know their reliability) that addresses this. Apparently, the article cites that the collegiate agreement in the new CBA will be idential to the last one. Here's the blurb that it is cited in: I'll keep looking for the actual CBA, but if this is INDEED true, it actually BENEFITS college hockey as both European and MJ players must either reenter the draft or be signed by their drafted team within 2 years of being drafted (June 1st of drafted year to June 1st two years later). Teams who send their draftees to college wouldn't have to sign them for 4 years (provided no redshirt) + 180 days (and any other days between end of 180 days and June 1st of that year if any) after drafting the player.

12 UMD players and a sizeable UMN contingent. Wow. Carsons (an 18 year old who will be attending Dartmouth next year) looks pretty good too. UMD isn't going to get worse. I mean, Sweden's star Olympic hockey goaltender is going to UMD next year and she's smoking hot good. An FYI, only Italy's women's hockey team is without at least one player who doesn't compete at a US college.

Really? Every version of the CBA I heard stated that an NCAA (NCAA Bound) player drafted by a team would become an UFA the August after his class graduates. If what you said was true, KTF, then Smaby, Stafford, Irman, Potulny, and Harrington (to name a few) would have signed by now. Here's the direct quote from the CBA itself (found here): So, in truth, when Oshie graduates (if he were staying all 4 years), the St. Louis Blues would have 180 days from the last day of that NCAA season (and any days in excess to that 180 days between the end of that 180 days and the following June 1st) to sign him before becoming an UFA. PCM- Google is good, no?

Gosh, that's a shocker. Anyways, I think the rematch between GFRR and FS could be a great game (if they actually get to that point). I don't know who will win. Maybe Red River will get them like Central did in Football... come to think of it, South IS dominating in hockey like they dominated in football this year... I hope not. But who knows. To be honest, if Red River wins it, I'll be happy. If anyone else wins it, I'll also be happy. If South wins it, I'll be ecstatic.

Nice but not likely. If I were the planners there, I'd want two western teams that have name recognition but really aren't going to be a genuine threat to beat the home team. My thoughts? tOSU and Michigan State as the two "Western" teams.

Eaves has done well. The Sens are indeed in a tough position: Send someone down who doesn't deserve it, send the other guy down who doesn't deserve it, or trade someone and worry about where to put him. In my opinion, if I were Bo, I'd play out this year but, if I'm not in a Senators uni next season and stick despite doing pretty darn well all things considered, I'd ask for a trade to a team that will actually use me. My two cents.

What I meant was that Bochenski was playing well before he got injured. Not the kind of performance I'd expect for someone to be sent down to the minors. Oh and by the way, he was sent down on Friday. Wow you're good. Too bad you can't stay. Good grief. Maybe the best thing Brandon could hope for is to be traded.

Now you live in a comfortable efficiency located over your folks' garage? As the Jefferson's theme says, "Movin' on up!"
-
Oh yeah! I forgot about that! Yeah, that would get me out of my seat too! Oh wait, I'd be heading for the door...
-
Which was where he was before the injury. Sorry if I'm cynical but... why was he sent down again? Personally, I could give a crap about how well Eaves is playing. Bo didn't try to get injured.

Who would UND fans like to see to add Hockey first?

Yes, this is club hockey. -
Kindof irrelevant, but I worked with a guy who is heavily involved in some way with Cobber football and athletics in general. I don't believe he's a coach, but anyways he's really close to the Cobber athletic program, specifically football. I talked to him, his son btw, plays football for Bemidji State, about Cory Johnson. I told him I thought he could play DI hockey. He said he agreed except that wasn't what Cory wanted to do. He wanted to stay close to home because his mother is battling cancer. How much of this is true, I'm taking his word on. He's a teacher and not one who is prone to lying. But if it is true, I HAVE to respect Cory for it. Anyways, quality win vs. North for the Bruins. I hope they can continue their good luck against Central.

I'm stunned myself

If CC sweeps and UW loses, does that improve our PWR more? Or does UW winning or losing have any affect whatsoever on us? I know we can't overtake UW, but I'm not wanting to do that anyways. I want our PWR to improve. Anything that improves it is good.

I'm sure the Chorney as Lidstrom comparison did set you off. I know because you left out the words I used such as "potential to be" and replaced it with "will be" or "as." I never said he WILL be like Lidstrom. I said he has the POTENTIAL to be. There's a big difference.

You should stop using guns like these and you'll be fine. Don't monkey around, dude. Just give in!

star2city- It's really hard to argue with what you've posted. It's very informative, thank you. The only thing I'd say is regarding swimming and diving. It would be a hard sport, even if no one here cares about it, to drop because they have something like 23 DII NC titles.
