Isn't this the pot calling the kettle black? I don't remember many issues like this where NDSU fans agreed with UND fans anyways.

Found the same thing while doing my own search. An interesting story.

I'd be up to do more tailgating dates, but I won't know if I can make them until closer to the dates. On a side note, I went to high school with Jason Uhlir.

Sorry about that. I shouldn't repeat things that are told to me by NDSU professors. I will refrain from taking NDSU professors seriously from here on out. EDIT: And maybe I should give my definition of "Public Funding." As NDSU is not a private institution, all the money they recieve comes from either the public (state, local, federal governments etc.), grants, their students, and a small portion comes from revenue (merchandise sales. It is my understanding that ticket sales go only to the athletic department). So, I was giving Chapman the benefit of the doubt when I said "public" funding, as I'd hate to see what would happen if he was using the money garnered from tuition for his backyard...

I'm not sure I follow you. The blurb you quoted cites Division I-A's attendance requirements. We're not going D-IA in football.

Why don't we just acknowledge the dichotomy and move on? UND fans see the mess Chapman has created (and UND fans aren't alone in this, trust me) and call him on it. NDSU fans see UND fans as self serving (which NDSU fans have thought of us long before Chapman was ever named NDSU president) and cannot see any logic in what they say. It's kind of like Democrats vs. REpublicans. Regardless of which side is actually correct, neither side can work with each other because Republicans are big business loving Fascist Nazis and Democrats are pinko commie hippies. Seriously! DI in Fargo isn't going to see UND's perspective. Period. I very much doubt any "true" NDSU fan would. Oh, I'm sure our "self-servedness" is the reason why. Whatever. Maybe Potts did act irrationally. Maybe there is some question as to what benefit he was to the state. Rational questions or statements the both of them. However, trying to deflect the fact away that Chapman has misused public funding (How about rerouting funds to redo his house's backyard? Is that truly a necessity? And I'm sure there are other things.) and the fact that Chapman has started this whole mess is rather immature and pig headed.

Depends. Fans of the sport would say what Siouxmama says. People who dislike the sport, such as the joker who posted earlier in this thread, would say it's not worth it and tell you to go throw matches into a can of gasoline or pick a fight with a six year old girl instead. My opinion is like Siouxmama's. I didn't know what to think about women's hockey until I saw a game. It was a few years back (my first game) where I saw UND play UConn. We lost. However, I cheered so hard the scorekeeper gave me a free program (I guess he was tired of hearing me yell "Go 13!! Good shot 15!!!" etc.). It's a fledgeling program trying to find its footing right now. Unlike MSU-M or BSU in men's hockey, UND Women's Hockey doesn't have a whole lot of history (I believe it was a club team before going DI whereas MSU-M and BSU men's hockey were long time DII/DIII hockey teams before jumping). So you can see the small crowds in such a manner that you are either: Helping to develop tradition or just supporting the program. It is really as much as you wish to make it. In the winter, it makes a great day of hockey. Women's hockey Saturday afternoon and Men's to wrap up the evening. Do I think women's hockey is as good as men's hockey? No, because, though they are the same sport, they are very different. The rules are different and that takes some getting used to (I'm still not used to the no checking rule). Anyways, just check it out and, if you don't like it, at least you gave it a shot. IF you do like it, the women could use as much support as they can get.

Paul Doe- It is true that Darcy and Travis Zajac played in the BCHL, but here is an article that explains what I'm talking about. It is Eric Gryba whom I refer to. The info I speak of is in the third paragraph of that report. Also notice that Kelly Zajac doesn't play in the BCHL, but rather the MJHL. I also notice that it refers to the ruling as being new (as of March 2006, anyways) so this ruling would not have affected Travis or Darcy Zajac. It's an interesting question...

Good question. But as he says, don't "be hatin'" on him because he's simply the dually elected spokesperson from Grand Forks on the matter of Women's Hockey and its future as well as popularity.
-
Truthful in your opinion or do you actually have facts to back up a broad generalization like putting words into the people of Grand Forks' mouth? Like Women's hockey or not, that's your choice, but saying more than just yourself dislike women's hockey when you truly don't have the facts to back it up is something else entirely. Don't put words in other people's mouthes. You'll make more friends if you don't.

I wonder where David and Kelsey's next stops will be regardless of where they are committing. Do they have to play Midget AAA again this year or can they transfer to a league like the USHL/NAHL/MJHL etc? Also, one other question for those who may know more: Is there some rule where Canadian players have to play Junior A (or Tier I or whatever it is that isn't major juniors) in the prospective conferences whence they originate? So, for example, David Toews would have to play in the MJHL if he were to play in Canadian Juniors? (does Quebec even have a non major junior Tier I hockey league?) I can't seem to find any information about this ruling but I seem to recall a player recently running into that problem when he wanted to play in the BCHL but couldn't because he was from Saskatechewan (I want to say this was Eric Gryba, but I can't be sure).. Maybe I'm not using the right keywords in the google search...

I'm wondering how penalties will affect Jones' chance at gaining a slot?

That's the idea I got too. When is a frog NOT a frog? The mascot is a frog and they are called the jumping frogs. On paper, visually, there is NOTHING to make anyone believe that this name is any different from naming the team the Huskies, Eagles, Terrapins, Jackrabbits, etc. The excuse of using a French flag to make it seem racist is merely a visual device to attach the term "frog" with the derogatory slang that has people up in arms. I don't know what Kebekwa means, but if it doesn't mean "Frogs" then I could possibly see a corroboration between the frog mascot, the name, and racism, but if they are the Quebec Jumping Frogs, then there is no such racist remark evident, IMO.

I agree with jk in the fact that a lot could happen before 2008 or 2009 (whenever Kristo and the coaching staff decide for him to enroll here). The words I'd use to describe this committment is "cautiously optimistic." The Gophers have gotten many 16 year old commitments that didn't pan out, a late example is Peter Mueller... though Peter may have even been younger when he verballed to Minny. I hope he doesn't plateau. I hope he thrives at the NTDP and thrives academically so he can join the Sioux when it is time. There's a long road ahead until that time, though.

THunderstruck is better than that Streaming Yellow or whatever that was.

O&A?

I agree.

All in all, I think our defensive corps is really solid going into the WJC. Experienced too.

I think I can make that!

How do you display you are a Sioux fan?
redwing77 replied to JESUS,family, rutgers's topic in Men's Hockey
For me, I have a Sioux white jersey, but I only wear that on game nights. Usually, it will have to be my UND FIghting Sioux license plate holder on my car. My father always wears the Sioux pullover I bought him in the winter (but he also teaches at the UND Med School every now and then so...) My brother wears green scrubs (no Sioux logo, but we can pretend) and has a UND Med School t-shirt even though he attends Loyola Med School in Chicago. Does that count? Several of my coworkers display Sioux (or similar) aparel. One 4th grade teacher I work with switches off between a black Sioux jersey and a Zach Parise NJ Devils jersey all the time. Let's face it, I haven't the money to be like Mafiaman -
So what's your Grand Casino story?
