I was putting mine down for end of season...
-
It is interesting that Cichy chose to play for the NTDP this season, but I still think he's a long shot for the NCAA. I really do think that, at the end of this coming season (or near the beginning of the 2007-2008 season), Cichy will be in the Q. But if we can get him, let's get him.

Didn't work for Eric Lindros. Anyways, in the light that these reports brings, and this will fly right in the face with (seemingly) quite a few here, I think this "revelation" really puts a lot of the "problems" Kessel seems to be known for off of Kessel's shoulders. I mean, how much of these rumors around Kessel's attitude really is Kessel? If you ask me, the real cancers with the last name "Kessel" don't lace up the skates nor have they wore Maroon and Gold or any collegiate or pro hockey jersey.

I'll take a stab at it: 1. BC 2. UMN 3. Maine (surprise!) 4. UW 5. UND 6. BU 7. MSU 8. Miami 9. Harvard 10. Michigan Unranked teams to watch: SCSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Princeton, Dartmouth, UNH

Somehow I figure that should be my avatar

Anyone know where he was between 2005 and 2006? EDIT: Nevermind. Found an article cited on a different thread that states that he served as a head coach for the UHL Adirondack Frostbite (now defunct) last season.

Take the Vikings players, Trailblazers, Bengals, Steelers, and heck, even throw in the 90s Cowboys and it still doesn't represent all of athletics. There are a TON of dumb people in every walk of life, but I hardly think that those people represent the entire "industry." Maybe those Foundations are fronts. Not going to argue that, but 15% of something is better than 100% of nothing. I know it defies the purpose of a charitable foundation to only have less than a quarter of the money go to charitable causes, but athletic foundations are hardly the only ones doing that. There are many that call themselves relief charities or medical charities that use less than half of the donated money for the purposes it advertises. This is a charitable organization problem, not an athlete problem.
-
It was only a relief inasmuch as he made the darn decision. Kessel got his lessons in this regard from another Wisconsin "resident" in Brett Favre. His retirement fiasco and Kessel's signing fiasco seem eerily similar.

Here's a narrative report on Jackson's hockey career up until 2003. However, according to this report, Dane Jackson was the assistant coach of the Milwaukee Admirals before doing the same thing for the Manchester MOnarchs. I'm happy to see him aboard even though I was pulling for Steve Johnson.

THis is juvenile, I'm sure, but that GIF war was the most hilarious thing I've seen on this site in quite some time. Thanks PCM, MafiaMan, Greyeagle, and the like. I really needed a laugh.

Wow... a harsh generalization. Nevermind all the humanitarian efforts Warrick Dunn has done over the past few years? I know there are more football stars or athletes that give a lot of their time and money to charitable causes because they feel it is the right thing to do (not because it is what is in their contract/what is expected of them to do). There are a lot of idiots in the world, professional sports aren't excluded from this list. However, not everyone is an idiot and not every professional athlete is a criminal.

Or when he makes it so easy that I can even get him good.

Despite the penchant for Gopher ripping (which this thread is basically on big Gopher bashing session anyways ), I am curious as to the legality behind these practice sessions. Does this mean that Hakstol could do the same for the Sioux? I thought there was some rule that the coaches couldn't be in on practice until a certain time?

Uh, there's already a thread on this....

I had a teacher who thought that a sort of crude interpretive dance was the best way to describe how atomic reactions of different sorts occurred. We called in the "neutron dance," though any semblence to the Family Guy's version is coincidental (not to mention this whole thing took place perhaps.... 10 years before Family Guy? Not entirely certain when it came out). EDIT: Not to mention my high school world geography teacher who thought it was the most hilarious thing to have witnessed his wife get submitted to a full-body cavity search....

On one hand, I can feel sympathetic because he fell back onto the wagon. On the other hand, he wasn't very smart. He put himself in a position for failure when he was probably on his last leg anyways professionally. This is another player who will more than likely end up out of football and in huge financial trouble. Sad. That being said, it's not like they need a deep threat anyways. Brad Johnson isn't "that kind of QB." Good luck Vikings. Spreading out the opposing defense is going to be difficult. I just hope their running game is better this season than what we're seeing this preseason.

Sorry, that whole debate goes to those students at UMD who take courses from that professor who claims a laser beam downed Wellstone's airplane and all those other crazy conspiracy theories. Felltzer or Felzer or something like that...

Correct! It's a good thing I already don't like the Wild or their handling of Roche would give me a reason to dislike them... For now, the WIld just suck and Roche wouldn't have done any good to correct their suckitude. Mafiaman- $17?!?! Man, the Canadian dollar has gained a little on the US dollar as of late, apparently.

Well, at least Kessel is close to making a decision. Then, once the decision is made, all we'll have to endure is a few troll sightings and it's back to your regularly dull off season.
-
Not impossible. On a USCHO thread a while back (forgive me because I can't remember exactly which) the posters talked about a few hockey players who also played lacrosse. EDIT: Here is the thread. (I sure hope it works for all of you. I tested it...)

You were in college THAT long for a HISTORY degree?

Ha Ha Herpetologists are scientists (often zoologists) who specialize in the study of reptiles and amphibians.

Nope, according to this 2003 interview, he's becoming a herpetologist/crocodile hunter.

And we thank you for it.
