  1. Apparently not if you are a UND fan and you are an NDSU fan. It's amazing to me how NDSU fans look down on UND fans not for the rivalry thing, not for the DI thing, not necessarily even for the anti-NDSU thing, but for the fact that many of us do not like basketball. I guess it could be considered a similar thing with UND fans regarding NDSU about hockey, but I'm not so sure as both UND and NDSU have basketball programs but UND has the only Division rated hockey team between the two schools (I don't count club teams as a division rated team. They do have DI, DII, and DIII club designations so I hear, but club is club to me). It would be like UND arguing against Denver University stating how lacrosse stinks but UND only has a club lacrosse team (if at all) and DU has a DI lacrosse team. Why should a school's fanbase that has no real stock in a sport complain or discount another school who does have a legit stake in that sport? Again, both UND and NDSU have basketball programs so this criticism of hockey is rather apples to oranges. That being said, NDSU fans can dislike hockey all they want, but they have to realize that UND's hockey program is one of the elite programs in the country. Whether UND likes or dislikes basketball is an entirely different argument.
  2. True, but a D2 F****ts cheer? Really? I can handle hostile and abusive cheers like "Sioux suck" because it only makes those cheering it look hostile and abusive. But d2 Fa****s cheer... Wow. And NO, NDSU is NOT alone in classless cheers. UW took part in a "Sue's a Whore" chant during the hockey series. In a more perfect world, I would hope that fans from both fanbases would frown upon those types of cheers.
  3. I agree. I think that this weekend was the first time the Sioux played poorly. It doesn't diminish Friday's loss nor excuse either losses, but really, the season isn't over. I was very upset with Friday's loss. One doesn't do as "good" as they did in the first period just to get outscored 6-1 in the next two periods. I'd be much more upset if we had split vs. QU. We'll be ok. I just hope that we get things in gear. It's one thing to be outplayed by a superior team (which UND was) but it was another to be outplayed while playing fundamentally unsound games especially in your own zone. That's what I saw on Friday. I watch a bit of Saturday's UMN vs OSU game and I noticed just how crisp their passing was. I really think we could use passing skills like the Gophers displayed last night.
  4. There have been games in the past where officiating was at least partially responsible for altering the outcome of the game, but this series wasn't one of them. There were bad calls, yup. There was one that resulted in a goal, sure, but it did nothing to the outcome of the game. We lost these games because we played REALLY bad hockey. That's really all there is to it.
  5. Thank you! Now you know what I'm talking about! 10-9 and the only reason why Minnesota won was because they got lucky on the NDSU FG attempt. THey should feel proud, sarcastically speaking (for Minnesota's sake). As for NDSU, I have every confidence that if they played Minnesota again this year, NDSU would win. GOod work NDSU. Way to stick it to 'em
  6. It means that Basil likens Hakstol to Dennis Green. A sad comparison. I mean, Hakstol has already been to the big show twice and the Super Bowl of DI hockey once (yeah he lost). Sorry Dennis, Hakstol has already beaten your coaching record. In any case, what Dennis Green was saying was that the media was all blowing sunshine up of the Bear's slacks and was doing so so much that the game wasn't a contest. I don't think this series was NEARLY that way. Maine has been relatively untested (Minnesota was their only "real" test). UND supposedly has been tested. They didn't come to play this weekend and that's that.
  7. I can't blame the captains or any single Sioux player. I CAN blame the entire team because this was a team loss if I've ever seen one. No one played well last night in the 2nd and 3rd periods. No one.
  8. Looks like a disaster to me. 4 ref systems work, the NHL is proof of that. However, in order for it to work you need a combination of two things: 1. Competant managing of said officials 2. Competant officials. WCHA has neither. This will be a disaster.
  9. Limping? I thought he had an arm injury?
  10. The reffing sucked, but as I see it, we still would have lost regardless. I can say for certain that one noncall resulted in a Maine goal, but other than that, we did it to ourselves. So, let's say Adam didn't have his head up his backside... would losing 5-2 be any different from losing 6-2? Folks, it's just as it has been said, bad reffing or not, we did this to ourselves.
  11. Definitely! There was no hunger tonight at all. At least Vandevelde was trying. It was a bad penalty but he was trying hard. Bishop looked ok. But man, I tell you, there were so many players that had bad nights... This was definitely a TEAM loss. And really, who can blame Phil when he got no support. One last thing: NOT impressed with the team's composure. Problems in all facets of the game including discipline, passing, communication, clearing the zone, transition... well, I think Hak should keep a game tape of this game and show this game before every game vs. top tier opponents so that the team can get their heads together.
  12. DING! We have a winner. THey'll skate hard and do passing drills up and down the ice. They'll practice clearing rebounds and getting to the net.... ok, I don't know what they'll practice, but tommorrow is as much as a "must win" for the Sioux as it can get early in the season.
  13. SHepheard with a goal. 6-2 Maine. Let's try to salvage a split tommorrow boys
  14. Watkins goal. Some good stuff.
  15. Slashing penalty on..... Maine. Maine has even put in their backup goaltender. This game is now officially a joke to Maine.
  16. Make up call for the SIoux. Johnson for being the "odd man out"
  17. Vandevelde will go for 5 minutes. Don Adam won't make that dumb mistake again. Too bad for Chris. Toews out with an aparent arm injury.
  18. Two Sioux penalties for sure. Vandevelde and Finley. Don't know if Maine will get any. WOW. Guys, you're down by 4. Let the Maine guys say WHATEVER THEY WANT. We need to play hockey not play their game. This game is completely out of control. SHepheard does go, but this is out of control anyways.
  19. Penalty on Maine... Surely they'll put Kozek in as well. Nope, whatta ya know.
  20. Watkins for roughing. Well, here we go again. EDIT. Whattaya know... Leveille goes to try to make things "look more even"
  21. That's ok, boys. 2 non calls for Maine on that one. Two tripping calls. One good non call (Porter) and the one that set up the shot that should have been called.
  22. 5-1 Maine. WOW. Game over. Let's look to tommorrow.
  23. Sioux penalty on hooking. Refs don't know that there are two teams on the ice.
  24. Wow. Sioux are doing the defending for the Black Bears. Sloppy. Just sloppy.
  25. No doubt, sprig. Our passing is a good idea of that. Maine passes tape to tape. UND passes somewhere... I don't know where, but usually to a Maine player.
