  1. My mom always taught me to be genuine when giving compliments or comments. What we saw here with this Gopher fan reminds me of one of my brother's friends talking to my best friend after listening to my best friend play piano. He's pretty good. Bro's friend says to my best friend, "Wow, you're pretty good considering the family you come from." Seriously, I can understand being upset about your team losing, Gopher fans. Sioux fans were in the same boat last weekend. But SERIOUSLY, if you can't be genuine in your congrats and gracious in your loss, then DON'T SAY A DAMN THING! It is better to say nothing and be thought of as an idiot than to open your mouth and prove it! (I can't remember who told me that line...)
  2. USCHO and the Michigan Daily Press agree with you.
  3. Gotta say I'm impressed with this list. Nice to see Gopher fans coming here and congratulating the Sioux. Thanks.
  4. "No excuses but..." Let the excuses fly!
  5. Let's be fair here. Bariball DID NOT do a jersey pop. Only Carmen did. Then again, Bariball is quickly becoming the best of the Gophers anyhow. Not all that surprising that he's not up to that kind of childishness. What an excellent game for the Sioux. We did to the Gophers in OT what they did to us in the Frozen Four. Phil had a solid game. So did the first two lines. Kaip... while we were busy debating whether or not we respect him (heh) he's become quite a solid defensive forward with an offensive flair. This year we have definitely seen more of MacMahon in Kaip's play. Radke has taken over the Prpich role (not really that well mind you). Key Part of the game: The 5 minute penalty kill. That REALLY could have done us in. We played VERY well. Dumb play of the game: The UND penalty soon after the 5 minute. What an unnecessary penalty. The officiating was...eh. Good at times, not so good at others. Brian Lee played well... but he's back to where he was last season regarding his shot. He HAS to shoot more. He's got a GREAT shot from the point but he NEVER DOES IT. He always passes to Chorney. Yeah, he's good, but I think defenses are keying off of that or can key off of that. Finley played well. Heck, our D played VERY well today. Good work boys! Next step a VERY VERY VERY tough BC team. Arrogant as it may be, I'll say this: If we get past BC, we get #8. NO team still playing is playing better than BC is right now.
  6. Agreed. I wanted Miami to win as well, but I know that wouldn't happen. They are the only team coming into the NCAAs that was playing better than or as good as Minnesota and UND.
  7. They have one coming in. Bryan Hogan of Lincoln (USHL). He had a stellar year two years ago and a mediocre one this year. I think he'll do well. I'd say Sauer gets benched in December of 07 and Hogan takes over.
  8. Sorry but Goligoski didn't play all that hurt to me. His shot only just missed the net. I don't think he's hurt that bad. His passes weren't bad either.
  9. First off, too bad about Miami... They are a less talented UW. All goaltender and nothing really else. Yeah, I know about Davis and Jones, but really... if all it takes is a few nifty moves to get the commentators gushing about them, then it has to be hype. Miami has done NOTHING against BC. Cory Schneider only has one wish: He could bring his school texts to the net so he could actually work at SOMETHING. I admit to having not watched the first period, but really, Siembida would be able to beat Miami right now. That being said, Zatkoff is amazing. He's the only Redhawk I feel sorry for. And as for next week: I'd rather not play BC. They're playing extremely well. EXTREMELY well.
  10. No, but BC has our number from last year.
  11. sagard, you can give me the best answer to this: During the AFA/UMN tilt, the commentators mentioned on hwo Goligoski wasn't sick, he had an injury and couldn't shoot (which for someone who couldn't shoot, those passes from the point made on goal came awfully close). What's the deal? Is Lucia just forming stories to take the heat off of Goli? He didn't look that bad yesterday.
  12. I gained points.... and moved from 314 to 318. I won the game and still lost?
  13. Dream scenario here: Miami wins, UND wins. Not sure the FF matchups would be but I'd hope it would be UND/Miami and Maine/MSU. Wishful thinking though. I expect BC to win.
  14. THanks cujo2. Really, if the team that showed up last night for UND shows up tonight it will be a spirited game, for sure, but Minnesota will win. We can't expect to give up 3 goals in the first 5 minutes to the Gophers and expect to come back. We have to come out firing, playing smart and physical, take shots, follow it to the net, get Frazee rattled and limit Gopher opportunities. ESPECIALLY powerplay. Minnesota's powerplay is scary regardless of the numbers.
  15. True. I think even Briggs would have been able to stop TJ Oshie's 2nd goal and Kaip's goal. I mean, Kaip's goal was no screen and the shot came from far out. If Kaip had been just outside the crease, I think it would have been more difficult. Kaip's goal was beautiful but any goaltender with a good push off would have been able to make a play on it.
  16. Might? Right now, it's gotta be: Hensick Duncan Brown Yeah, I know Brown is out but at least he made it past the first round....barely. And of the three, he had the best performance of all three. Right now I expect: Hensick--Scoring leader. Did a good job in a losing effort Ehn -- Feel good story of the year (aka the Lessard Rule) Brown/Curry -- Goaltender infatuation
  17. I'd be shocked if Frazee wasn't in net. Lucia goes with the rotation all year and Briggs looked BAD yesterday. As a Sioux fan, I have to say: "WE WANT BRIGGS!" I think it is absolutely unfair to have Briggs' record as a Gopher and potentially watch your college career end while on the bench.
  18. That's not the ref's doing. That's the fact that the Wolverines could only do so much before having to rely on their goaltender. And their goaltender flat out sucks. We're lucky Montoya is gone. Even in Montoya's more shaky games, he was never as bad as Sauer.
  19. hmbling? You get humbled if you are in the running and then, through various reasons, fade away. I was never in the running to begin with!
  20. Regardless of which official is in the show (if it is Shep, it will benefit no one really), we have two intriguing teams facing off tonight. Minnesota- Played lethargic hockey and then had to really exert itself after going down 2 goals. As a Sioux fan, I hope Briggs gets to try for redemption in net. Knowing how Lucia has tended to work this season, though, Frazee will be in net. UND-Had to work REALLY REALLY hard for 30 minutes straight. From there, there was never a major letdown, just a slight one. Which team will have more legs? Will we right the defensive ship? I KNOW we can score on Minnesota if we can get it into their zone, but can we control the game? Very important things to ponder, for a sports contest.
  21. Hanson was the official. He's a Hockey East official. IIRC, wasn't he the official that followed a Maine player off the ice just to yell at him? If that's the case, I can understand Hensick's feelings towards him. Goon- I don't know if the reffing went our way or not. There were an AWFUL lot of missed calls on both sides. ESPECIALLY in the third period.
  22. Good points. I found it interesting that Hensick stole the puck from Toews, walked past Chorney and scored. A similar situation happened later, but I don't know if Hensick stole the puck from Toews, and it was Finley that Hensick tried to skate past but Finley didn't let him get by him. I wonder if anyone noticed that? Regardless though, the way the first five minutes of the first and second periods went, it's really hard to say our defense played well as a unit. Sorry for not scrolling back, but why did Hensick get a 10 minute misconduct again?
