I agree about the D. Basically nonexistant for much of the game. Chorney and Bina did not look good at times. We can't play like this tommorrow defensively if we expect to go to the Frozen Four.

I don't know if that was a designed play. The puck hit the post and got pushed into the net by Sauer's skate. That puck went in because Sauer flat out sucks. Seriously, no one played defense tonight until the last 30 minutes of the game (especially the Wolverines). The big difference is that Sauer is absolutely NOT a big game goaltender. The days of big time goaltenders at Michigan took a major step backwards with this guy. Sauer might be in trouble next year when Hogan (?) from Lincoln comes to Ann Arbor.

If Minnesota goes down tommorrow, will the NCAA take steps to ensure at least 1 #1 seed makes the playoffs? Perhaps go to an 18 or 20 team field and have the #1 seeds get a first round bye?

SOme interesting officiating notes from the BU/MSU tilt: WCHA officials in the game and so a lot of calls were missed or bungled up. First elbowing penalty on BU (IIRC) might have been weak. At least, if the replay they showed was the infraction. Second, Lerg gets run TWICE in the same play with no help from MSU players. No call. I guess you have to nearly injure the goaltender (Bruess!) in order to get called for it. Third, WCHA officials boot the wrong BU player. A penalty had to be called there, it was just nice of WCHA idiot ref to allow on of BU's top scorers to get off scott free while kicking out a guy whose only penalty was standing up for his teammate. I find it amusing to see that in an independent environment, meaning the WCHA officials are not calling a game with WCHA teams in it, they can still royally f things up. Good work Greggie-poo. Go pat that guy on the back (sonny-boy?) for a job well done. Start off with a phrase like "Thank goodness MSU was going to win anyways."

My bracket is screwed already. At least I know that Maine or SCSU will destroy UMass. UMass MIGHT have a better shot with Maine because they don't have as much scoring as SCSU has. If SCSU plays UMass my prediction will be: SCSU 5-1 (I should add that Motzko takes pity on UMass in the third by playing mostly his 3rd and 4th lines. UMass scores because Motzko decides to give the third period to Weslosky who will face MAYBE 9 shots and give up a goal). If it is Maine: Maine 3-1 Clarkson played a defensive game and bows out before it gets ugly. Better to lose 1-0 in OT than to participate in the slaughter UMass is about to succumb to.
