I'm not sure if the Ferris win matters. Does it? I mean, if the SIoux sweep it puts them in good position to take over the #1 ranking now, but still...
-
Hate to sound like a moron, but... Was the game today televised on FSSN? It wasn't advertised as such so I didn't tune in.

Nice shutout JPL. Tomorrow we come in shooting in the first period. We don't wait a period. Also, I expect the penalties to go more the way of UMD tomorrow.
-
I'd bet Miller and Davidson.
-
Don't give the puck to Hennessy! He lost his sheet! Lovely sound he made too. Very....feminine.

Ok, not knowing what is going on in practice, I think that if the worst case scenario is true (Trupp done for the year), then we need a player who can play the same kind of game that Trupp does. Davidson isn't that player. More likely would be Miller, but I think Forney has Trupps offensive upside. But yeah, I expect Miller in there. Why Forney didn't red shirt this year is beyond me.

They could have gotten JPL numerous times for that then this season.

2nd period breakdown: 1. PP looked better. They started shooting the puck. 2. Pressure overall looked better 3. Defense continued to play well. Keys to 3rd period 1. Keep up pressure 2. Continue defensive stance and disciplined play 3. SHOOT! 4. Conditioning. Trupp gone. Need to accommodate.

It may be a BS penalty but I will defend Thul on this one. Why? Because it sends a message to both benches: Run the goaltender, sit in the box. Period. It's a message no other official has been willing to make. So far, believe it or not, Thul is acting like Shepherd and McLeod has nothing on him. Shep will talk to him about this and he'll surely suck tomorrow though.

VV with a "pretty" goal.

My Period 1 Wrap Up: 1. Great things happen when you throw the puck at the net. Genoway - living proof. 1-0 Sioux 2. UMD's PK was good. Carroll was a madman out there. 3. #2 notwithstanding, we had 4 PPs and maybe 2 chances on those power plays. I don't know how many shots we had, I do know that it took us 2 minutes to get our first shot on the PP. That's unacceptable. We're on the powerplay. We shoot the puck. Period. Even if we don't score, we should have minimum 2 SOG per 2 minute PP. 4. We HAVE to stop thinking that we can always rely upon Oshie and Duncan to score the goals. Yeah, they can score, but seriously, I love ugly goals because THEY COUNT JUST AS MUCH AS THE PRETTY ONES! I'm starting to see Genoway as my favorite Sioux player. Not because he's the best, but because he seems at times the ONLY SIoux player who isn't afraid to just shoot the f-ing puck. 2nd Period Keys: 1. Continue to stay out of the box 2. Maintain defensive strategy that worked in the first period. 3. SHOOOOOOOT! Stalock isn't a sieve. We've got to score any way we can.

We're NOT playing well on the power play. Missing the net, hitting our own guys, and a TON of offsides. Oh well... The more this happens, the better UMD looks.
-
Craptastic. We can't expect much if we're given what we're given and we can't get shots off.
-
Don't think so, no. I think that was before Chelios got to Madison.

Couple of observations on the UAA/UMN tilt: 1. Whoever is controlling the cameras for the broadcast (obviously not FSN North) is a retard. Close ups when you don't need them, missing plays (but getting lucky due to UAA's inability to play offense). They need competent producers up there. Keep the wide angle for the plays and the close ups for the replays. 2. I just watched probably the worst 5 on 3 powerplay in my lifetime. Minnesota is going to destroy UAA tonight because they couldn't take advantage of this 2 man advantage which gave MInnesota all the confidence they'll need. Then again... there is no O in UAA.
-
MSU does have a history, sure, but last year was very much a fluke. I can't help but think that, if UND had gotten past BC, we could have handled MSU. So, I guess you are right. Brackets do matter.

Winners: Minnesota SCSU (UW will probably win it, but seriously...after how badly UW played last Saturday, I can't imagine them being a threat if Jase plays well) CC TECH!!!!! UNH Miami (though if tOSU won I wouldn't be surprised. Despite this, it is good vs. bad cupcake) Michigan (Please... this game is only important because Michigan can wrap up the CupCake Hockey Association by winning it. It's a lot like...SCSU playing UAA in terms of good hockey). Ok, I shouldn't be so hard on Michigan. They're the only team from the CCHA that has a legit chance at making the Frozen Four.

3 seasons. Gosh, there's nothing that makes me more nervous than a guy who commits to UND with 2 or more seasons to go before suiting up. St. Croix and Clarke are both guys that are/would be great additions to the Sioux, but the MJ interest in them are so high that part of me thinks there's no way they'll end up in Grand Forks.
-
I don't know what the NHL would call, but I can guess what the WCHA would call if they had to take both sides: Phoenix gets: 2 min for roughing Chicago gets: 2 min for unsportsmanlike conduct diving. All Toews needed to do was to show the Phoenix guy's gloves were around his neck and pulling him. Instead, he fell down. Hence, diving.

You underestimate the throwers. They will end up on the ice. Probably will end up down a man for it.
-
The Hawks made a move today that I'm not sure I like trading Ruutu for Ladd. Maybe it is because I know little of the two players, but I thought Ruutu was the better offensive player.
-
I speculate that the new recruit will be a forward, D-man, or a goaltender who will more than likely come in sometime between 2008 and 2010.

Maybe Boogaard's hurt? Simon doesn't score. Neither does Boogaard. Simon isn't especially great defensively. Neither is Boogaard. Simon's great at fighting. So is Boogaard. See the trend here? You're right. Risebrough (sp?) made a dumb move.
