My opinion: It will be nice having a UND guy do UND football games. Not a guy who spends 5 days a week talking about NDSU on the radio in Fargo and then travels up to UND games on the weekend. That setup sucked. Like Jack but the setup was bad.
Here is your "let's just go with no nickname crowd (because the choices are bad)". Seriously, they brought their kids to the rally and had them make signs. Has nothing to do with the old nickname at all.
So who do you think the crowd is that are writing letters to the editor trying to rip apart a former president? What option do those people want and why?
Have you been paying attention at all? The No Nickname people ARE the Sioux Forever people. They don't want a nickname so they can keep calling it them the Sioux. Of course they are going to tear apart each name choice, they don't want one! C'mon.
That is not a scare tactic, it is a simple question. Scare tactics are when Sioux Lovers dig up dirt on an ex-president trying to make him seem like a horrible human being so people won't vote for Roughriders. That was about as desperate of a scare tactic as I have ever seen.
You're missing something here. Read the post above yours.
The NCAA and sanctions over the old nickname was the problem back in the day. Everyone wants to know if it will pop up again by not having a nickname. Wish Kelley would answer the question.
That all comes back to their leadership. Is Brad Berry going to be the only coach on campus who fights the process by not supporting it? Thus, leading his players and their fan base to do the same?
I think we can all agree: If Berry were to come out and state that he and his program are behind the nickname process and want what's best for the university-as his SID pointed out yesterday- the rest of the players and fan base would follow suit.
Love when guys that never wore the logo or the name speak so intensely about it.
Also, way to support the actual school you are playing for and the one paying your 16K scholarship during this tough time guys, great job.
The guy was Lowell Schweigert. Bubba's brother and former UND Football player who lives and dies UND athletics. Mike might want to think a little next time.
