Poor Wisconsin, well I really don’t feel sorry for them. They are going to be garbage for a few more years even after Tony leaves. Eaves really wasn’t that bad now was he.

Like with Maine, the grass isn’t always greener on the other side.

12-47-13 over last two seasons at a program like Wisconsin is really bad. Eaves ran the program into the ground.

  2. #1 seed hosts.

    4 team regional

    double elimination

    2 games Thursday

    2 games Friday

    1 game Saturday

    1 game Sunday

    1 game Monday if necessary

Works great for Baseball with the admittingly huge difference being Baseball can get it done in 1 less day due to teams being able to play 2 games in a day.

Hutch is a good dude. Coached his son on a AAA team in the mid 2000’s. Good guitar player too. I’ve met Too Tall also but that was during the days he was drinking. That man could pound down the beers

Tom was not the best at vetting his Sky Spies.

I remember the look on Charlie's face when Tom let us know that Charlie Zahomo reported 22 degrees and a couple inches of snow in Hallock, Mn or wherever.

  4. It sounds like he had contaminated Vitamin D.

I don't think he should be criticized for taking Vitamin D. In fact that is something our government should have pushed back in February of 2020.

I am certainly not going to argue with a doctor about it's effectiveness but I was advised by a doctor friend to take it if I wasn't already back in February of 2020.   I have seen several studies by doctors and experts in infectious diseases  showing that while Vitamin D probably isn't a viable treatment for someone who has Covid and won't prevent someone from getting Covid it seems to certainly lessen your chances of dying, being hospitalized and/or having a severe case of Covid when you do become infected.

I always see the "experts" saying the studies are not peer reviewed so we will just call it a coincidence that people deficient in vitamin D are 15 times more likely to have a severe or critical outcome. I am sure the reason it isn't peer reviewed isn't because a year's supply costs about $35-40 and there isn't any money to be made.

In this case we know Berry didn't tell a kid what he wanted to hear.

Frankly, I'd be more worried about what the US NTDP is telling kids.

So many (try to) make the jump directly to college. So many struggle their first year or two at college. Why? US NTDP is a skill game. College is an upperclassman game, and with rare exceptions known as first-rounders, upperclassmen (20-24 year olds) are no comparison to an 18 year old.

Their argument is they have played against college competition. But anyone who watches their games can see that while the colleges may try and win the game they do try and win the game without much hitting and physicality.

Sorry, Cag was a week younger. I'm saying is one of the youngest. My point is that that age is typically reserved for players that are, with the exception of Hain, first round talent (yes, I understand Cag was undrafted). I'm saying I don't think Spicer is that player. We'll see.

I believe they originally had Cagguila slated to come in the following season but with Brock Nelson blowing up his sophomore season like he did and Grimaldi dealing witha serious injury the previous season and being unsure how quickly he would recover they brought Drake in a year earlier than planned.

I'll ponder aloud again, is 15F the right number today. We've been short bodies on game day a couple times the last few seasons.

    Now some math with numbers:

    • 8D, 25% hurt (2), 6 left, full game card
    • 15F, 25% hurt (3.75, or 4), 11 left, NOT full game card <-- Does going to 16 or 17 make sense if the logistics (and dollars) work?

And when I say "full game card" I'm saying 6D and 12F and not considering the "extra skater" slot.

I forget how the Covid/Scholarship dollars work.

Do Senden and Hain count against the 18 schollies?

Wasn’t it 1996 when Red won his first one?  That would have made him 127 years old.;)

Speaking of Mr. Berenson. How long would he have lasted at UND?

Took him 7 years to win a conference title. 12 years to win a national title, followed by another2 years later. Then he was coach for 19 years of their current 24 year drought. Won 11 regular season and 10 tournament championships in a weak CCHA/B10 in 37 years.

I used to tell my Gopher buddies, "Congratulations, you have the best team in the country with all your players from 1 state....is there a trophy for that? Maybe hang a banner."

I would also mention that two of the oldest players to ever play in the WCHA were Steve Debus who was a 25 year old junior and Dan Woog

That phenomenon goes back a long ways.  I think it starts with John Mariucci, who wanted to play a team of only Minnesota guys.  That fed the local ego (and still does).   So, anytime they lose, rather than admit the other guys were better, they have a tantrum.   That also started with Mariucci, who refused to play Denver for over a decade.  I recall being startled at being called a Communist on my first visit to Williams Arena in 1979, after UND won the WCHA title, and so I asked "why"?  "Because of all the Canadians you have."  And its still there ... people saying "U-Minnesota has more guys in the NHL than any other school"/"well no they don't and its not even close".

I think he signs a pro deal somewhere. If he is back I think he ends up playing bottom 6 fit wise just lacking a little bit of playmaking ability and speed wise. It is probably me hoping and thinking more of the skill we are bringing in with Blake, McLaughlin, and hopefully James needing to be top 6 guys to be a more explosive offensive team.

I like Calder. He probably has the best wrist shot on the team and was scoring at a decent pace before the nasty slash he took against Minnesota. I don't think he was anywhere near 100% the rest of the season.

It's not a comparison of his offensive skills. It's his skating, effort, size that comp to Stetchy. He's a very, very good hockey player.

He did show a little offense in his final season in the USHL in Fargo. Also put up some pretty good offensive stats as a freshman.

He has played with quite a few offensive minded defenseman while in college..Makar, Del Gaizo, Zac Jones, Kessel, and Morrow so he possibly played the role they needed him in.

What is the basis of this question?

They probably won't be stripped of their title but Kansas, Louisville(who was stripped of their 2013 title), Arizona, Memphis, LSU, NC State, and Auburn likely should not have even been eligible to play in NCAA post season.

This is what happens when you have a corrupt, morally bankrupt organization like the NCAA investigating their dirty Basketball and Football programs. Even with FBI wiretaps and mountains of evidence they have done nothing now for over a 1000 days because these schools make them money.

NCAA-"hey Kansas, your basketball program is corrupt and your coach is slimy and has committed numerous infractions."

Kansas-"Noted. Thank you for the heads up. We are going to give him a lifetime contract."

I have my doubts when power 5 school like LSU is looking for the coach. A new coach will have extreme of setting his roster for next year with all the people in the portal right now and he can still choose high school players he wants to sign. I wouldn't be surprised the next coach has them in sweet sixteen for next year. The top power 5 schools have been winning now for years with one and done players and few transfer players added to the mix. New coaches today don't fear this like in the past.

Depends what the NCAA sanctions are going to be at LSU.

Memphis, Louisville, Kansas, and Arizona are in the crosshairs as well.

Name school though so most likely UNC-Charlotte will get probation so everyone learns their lesson.

if the choice is James or Spicer, I definitely think it should and will be James. Hearing a little bit about an interesting transfer portal forward that could be intriguing. Just heard yesterday that James is in no hurry and is solid UND as it gets. Take that for what it's worth, of course.

Is it someone whose team is still playing?

It's mainly on the coaches to up their recruiting game.  That's a big part of the job.  We are losing too many recruiting battles.  Mankato had 2 of the 10 finalists for the Hoby this year and have made two consecutive Frozen 4s.  It's up to the coaches to evaluate talent and sell our program.

Dryden Mckay committed to Mankato just shy of his 20th birthday and was 21 when he started his college career. Nathan Smith was a 3rd round pick so probably wouldn't be considered a blue chip recruit by those on this board. He was also 21 when he played his first game for the Mavs. Mankato has done a good job at developing older talent. I agree UND needs to find a mix between the BU/Michigan Model and the Minnesota State model.

  18. Barry when talking abut Knies being a Maple Leaf draft pick at beginning of game said that Toronto has been bad for along time(they are going to be in the playoffs for 6th straight season) and that they have trouble scoring(2nd in NHL in scoring).

Heard the same on goalie and D being the portal additions and that Blake, McLaughlin, and Strinden were locks to come in and James and Spicer were TBD. Hadn't heard on the other stuff but it all makes sense. Would love to have Hain back and I know he has a great shot but Calder was a guy I expected to get more out of. Honestly at this point I don't see him as a guarantee top 6 guy for us, may be better off signing if he gets any kind of pro contract. I just don't see a lot of difference between him, Montgomery, Albrecht, Ness, Portz.

We don't know how healthy he ever got after the dirty slash against the Gophers. Calder is a shooter and if your wrists aren't 100% it can definitely affect your game. I don't want to compare him to a certain former player who was on the championship team and also wore #16 who was a pretty good sniper and was injured early in his sophomore season, but it took him a while to find his scoring touch when he came back that year.
