TJ Oshie on the latest podcast episode of spittin' chiclets says he's regrets leaving UND after his junior year along with good friend Taylor Chorney. Oshie wished he would have came back for senior year and references Taylor would probably agree with him and we regret going pro.

UND coaching staff, put this in your toolkit moving forward.

I remember talking with Blais at Peppers in Fargo after the 2003-2004 season. This was probably in May or June. He said Parise had been back in Grand Forks and was broken up to the point of tears and very regretful that he had signed after the season and said it was a huge mistake.

Of course this probably triggered Bochenski to sign over the summer as well and then Blais ended up in Columbus in September.

Can you imagine the 2004-2005 team with Parise and Bochenski? They finished second to Denver in Columbus and if we had todays replay rules would have won the national title in all liklihood since that team did not blow leads and the go ahead goal we scored would have counted. if you remember Mannino made a glove save so you knew the puck was in his glove and his glove was 2 feet deep in the net.

remember when's ralphs's box had vegas strippers in it!!!

    The Palace Princesses!

Have a couple great stories from that weekend when Ralph brought a plane full from Vegas.

Too long to type it all out but we were staying at the Ramada that weekend which is where Ralph's entourage was as well.

Hotel Bar stayed open until about 2:30-3 on Saturday night for those who were still there at 1 am. Had poolside rooms which turned out to be beneficial once the bar closed, some nice scenery.

One part of story that we still laugh about. George(i think) who was one of Ralph's guys who had fingers as thick as my wrists came over to us and informed us the bar would be staying open a little later tonight if we wanted to stay and shook(crushed) all our hands. Went up to the bar to get a couple drinks for the table and George was up there getting a round as well and a couple of the girls were like "Geoooorge, can you buy us a drink" so he has them tell the bartender what they wanted and he makes the drinks and comes back to George and says $19.75 or something like that and George reaches in his pocket and pulls out a stack of cash and starts peeling through about 50-60 100's and all of a sudden stops and grabs a 50 and looks at it like how did that little guy get in there and throws it on the bar and walks away.

  3. UND is now in a position where we will need to stay at the top of the conference not just for home ice in the playoffs but for pairwise reasons as well.

It is looking like there might not be much difference between the top 6 teams in the conference and all 6 are certainly in position to make the NCAA tournament. But if the top 6 are pretty jumbled up record wise UND is now in a position where if we are the 5th or 6th place team in the NCHC we are in the worst position of the 6 with SCSU, WMU, and UNO having the best non conference records which will be favorable for them when all the pairwise data is in.

Sweep at home, split on the road is pretty critical for UND right now. 10-4 down the stretch would be ideal. 8-6 might be more realistic.

Student section is always full, they line up 30+ min before the doors open to make sure to get a seat.  Our barn is 50+ years old and is one-of-a-kind.  You're right on top of the action.  Ceiling is all metal and low (and I mean LOW!) so 3000 people sound and feel like 6000.  We usually outdraw the basketball team.  I have season tickets so I'm there at least once each home weekend.  Biggest draws are OSU, Miami State, Western, Notre Dame, Michigan State (basically the MAC and oCCHA blue blood teams).  We do home-and-home with various combinations of these guys every year for our OOC schedule.

Thanks for the time guys, I don't want to overstay my welcome so I'll hand the mic back to you.

Know a guy who played there and he loved every second of the whole hockey and school experience.

It's mainly a small group of fans and one writer/blogger from BGSU and Miami with 1 or 2 Western Michigan fans in there.

I don't see either leaving anytime soon

I would say BGSU has a better chance of joing the NCHC than WMU and Miami do of leaving.

This past weekend the two South Dakota Schools have been making a statement to rest of the Summit league in women's basketball which most observers already knew is they are different level than other teams in the Summit. This past year with granting of extra eligibility for last year just about guaranteed these two schools another year of dominance in the Summit conference. South Dakota got return of their three stars of Sjerven, Lamb and Korngable for fifth year and with backed up talent they were set to have another good year and it sure showed against our girls this week. Then we come to South Dakota State they only have one returning 5 year player Irwin very good player giving them depth while their major star recovered from season ending injury last year. The thing with South Dakota State is they have number seniors or i should say seniors that gave them extra year of eligibility coming next year or the year after. Also adding that South Dakota State has recruited number of very good young talent that are fighting for playing time wonderful position to be in with small mid major program. This was the position that UND and North Dakota State used to be in schools that had tradition of winning and where top athletes wanted to come and play on winning teams. Both programs are in process of rebuilding and are different phases of that process but something is missing we don't seem to have interest of fans or community to get back there and seems we are not promoted even by schools themselves like back then.  In the past athletic departments and community would have put urgency to getting the program tops in the conferences they were in but now i don't see that now were one sport schools and that is where media is trained on and also the schools. I have question for all to ponder we have example of similar situation in Nebraska what happens if these sports fall on tough times like it has in Nebraska their recognition and following falls on hard times. What effect does this have on schools and communities. I can hear all sorts of that is not going to happen but in past when we had Tom Clifford leading the university, he wanted us to be winners in anything we did and he work hard to make that happen. I have nothing against new president in fact i think he has gotten off to good start but i do have questions about AD what his focus is on for UND athletics. I started about dominance of South Dakota schools but i leaked into my frustration about wanting UND to be best and i thought we were getting there back there in 2016 and 2017 when we started to have you conference champions in basketball for women's and men's, volleyball, and even with the football and hockey program was also at the top. Then we got into cutting sports and look where we are now with most of these programs not desirable position to be in and i have to believe most people want this for UND.

I think I had a seizure trying to read this.

The post game interview with Berry, it was mentioned that some players who got minutes today won’t be seeing minutes in the near future. Berry was unhappy and rightfully so.

I never put too much into these games. They are a good game to work things out after being off for 20 days. UND always dials back the physicality in these games as well.

That said we had quite a few forwards who were not noticeable today.

Instead of calling out those who didn't show up I will credit those who did.

Gaber, Ness, Albrecht, Hain, Constantini, Schmaltz.....i don't think I left anyone out.

I know it’s very close just hard to qualify DU at #2 when UND swept them.

Which is why while the pairwise is fun to look at and speculate on in January it really doesn't matter until all the data is compiled.

UND actually wins the comparison against Denver but Denver wins more total comparisons currently. Right now you have seven teams that will bounce around for the next month or so like bingo balls with the order possibly switching completely following every weekend.

Know Before You Go: Updates To Digital Ticketing

Ralph Engelstad Arena is introducing new ticket scanning equipment beginning on Saturday, January 1 that will speed up the entry process.

Tickets are still digital and work right from your account (same as they have all season). Simply add your tickets to the wallet on your phone – Apple Wallet or Google Play and you're set!

    • Tickets themselves may look a little different than they did earlier this year
    • A screenshot did scan earlier this season, but will no longer work as the barcode is constantly changing
    • The new ticket entry process:
      • Have your tickets pulled up on your phone when you arrive
      • Fans will scan their tickets themselves
      • Hold your phone in front of the pedestal (see below) and it will scan your ticket(s)
      • If you have more than one ticket and your guest is with you, swipe to the next ticket on your phone and scan

Any problems or questions? Stop by the Ticket Office either on game night or during our normal business hours, M – F, 10am – 6pm and open on Saturday at 10am.

Assuming this works for the paper tickets as well.

3 goalies on the roster - 1 was goalie, 1 was forward

Assuming the goalie who tested positive had a goalie for a roommate. With quarantine and time it takes to test and get results it takes awhile for players to find out if they are "sick".

    It is odd.

These players that tested positive are just like Carson Wentz.  They don't give a sh#t about their team.

I am old enough to remember that if a player had a cold or the flu and didn't hook up to an I.V. to try and be able to play he was letting the team down....now if a player is told he is sick they don't let him play.

Michigan cancelled it's GLI game against WMU scheduled for Thursday due to health protocols within the UM program.

Oddly enough, their game against MTU on Wednesday is not cancelled though.
Maybe UM (without a few of their star players) is scared to face off against a really talented WMU team, so they just cancelled that game. :D

To be fair. They only have 8 defensemen, 13 forwards, and 3 goalies that aren't at World Juniors.:whistling:

Maybe they could go with 17 minute periods or a running clock to get through the Tech game.

WMU already dumped them at Yost this season and lost in OT in Kalamazoo.
