After watching UMass yesterday, they come hard at you all the time. Sometimes I think UND is looking to play lockdown rather than constantly being in somebodies face.

True. But when Minnesota score their second goal they took their foot off the gas and it cost them. They did flip the switch again after Minnesota tied it and had the Gophers absolutly gassed as end of regulation but the Gophs managed to get to the locker room.

Minnesota State today kept sending in two on the forecheck with a 1-0 lead for most of the game. I like that style. Be disciplined but keep trying to score.

If berry was adamant about rizzo having to spend another year in juniors or decomit and go elsewhere then something needs changing with berry.

    Maybe we weren't Rizzo's number 1 choice?

I remember when we were recruiting Jason Gregoire and we told him we wanted to bring him to UND in 08-09 and Denver said they would bring him to campus in 07-08 so he committed to Denver even though UND was where he preferred to go. Then Denver told him they wanted him to play an extra year of Juniors and arrive on campus in 08-09. Since now since the circumstances were the same Gregoire flipped back to UND.

Same here.  That was a hard loss to take.
Outshot them 40-20, and the game certainly looked like pure domination.
The Trupp/Malone/Frattin line alone had as many SOG as the entire Michigan team.

Talked to Barry Melrose the next morning as he was enjoying a Cigar on the bench outside of the Embassy Suites as we were heading to the Twins game and he said something along the lines of tough loss, Michigan played the whole game not to lose and got away with it, and if they played 20 times Michigan would be lucky to win twice and unfortunately for you guys once was last night.

They interview the michigan coach, and he outright lies about playing western....God I hope they get pounded

They played earlier in the year. WMU beat them at Michigan and Michigan won at Kalamazoo with a little help from the men in stripes.

The simplest bracket is straight chalk.

The only conflict is UND/SCSU. You swap SCSU and UMass. You look at that and see …

Mankato/Harvard and UND/UMass and say Worcester because of two MA teams.

You quietly ask Michigan “Albany or Allentown” and WMU gets the other.

    Presto. Done.

    Should be pretty straight forward.

Do they swap Notre Dame and SCSU or do they swap SCSU and UMass? If they swap SCSU and UMass does that then become the Worcester Regional and the Worcester Regional become the Albany Regional or even the Allentown Regional if Michigan wants Albany?

    No Kleven
    No Sanderson
Against the biggest team in the NCHC Friday.

Johnson, Bast, and Ferner had best be ready.

Sure am glad they made hay when the sun was shining and have PWR no worse than 8 locked up.

Kleven is a +16 which is tops on the team by a pretty good margin and last weekend was the first time he had been on ice for an even strength goal against in 14-15 games.

Jandric and Frisch are going to log some heavy minutes on Friday.

At UND, the culture and masses focus on hockey. The majority of funds goes towards hockey.

Simple difference, but it is, in fact, the difference.

For UND football to ascend further, there will need to be a major financial gift (like UND once received from RE for REA). That is the only path moving forward where a significant change in fortune comes for UND football.

If UND had a $100 million facility for UND football, which sport at UND would be the most popular? Money talks, directly and indirectly to fans as well as it creates the culture.

For UND hockey, pretty darn hard to overlook a frickin’ massive $100M Arena in place for hockey games.

Will UND ever again receive a gift (individual or collective) that trumps Engelstad’s gift for hockey? Doubtful, but that’s what you have to hope for for the sake of UND athletics, specifically football.

Mark Chipman or Dave Fennell still on the doner radar?

How about if Michigan loses game 1 of Big 10 and DU wins NCHC tourney title?

There is a 98.5% chance that Michigan and Mankato will be the #1 and #2 overall.

There is a 91>5 chance that Minnesota, Denver, WMU, and UND will occupy the #3 through #6 overall spots.

I see this as a mistake

transition to college is hard for students and to play d1 basketball is tougher yet.

leaving her friends, her parents and missing a year of high school will be tough

lets see where she is a year from now

She should play her Senior Season and then probably redshirt.

And with the Transfer Portal I don't think most kids give a !@#$ anymore what the coaches contract terms are.........in fact, even before the transfer portal, that was always more of an ego thing for coaches anyway and most kids never did care about the head coach's contract at this level.

TOURNEY LEGENDS ... 71 YEARS APART

After Prior Lake's Alex Bump scored five goals in Thursday's Class 2A state hockey quarterfinals (a 6-0 win over Cretin-Derham Hall), he was congratulated by the legend, John Mayasich, who set the tourney single-game record of seven goals in 1951 ... 71 years ago.

The only other player to score five goals in one 2A state tournament game was Grant Besse of Benilde-St. Margaret's. He scored five times in a 5-1 win over Hill-Murray in the 2012 2A title game.

I believe Scott Richart scored 5 goals in a state tournament game as a D-man in 1980.

I don’t know if it’s the best option but I see the logic behind it. He looks to be a scorer that has played plenty of college basketball (granted not at the D1 level) that can be paired with the young guys coming in and returning. I think the open scholarships will all be filled by older guys.

Bellarmine University just won the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament in their second year of Division 1. They are not eligible for the NCAA Tournament until 2024 I believe.

They had a pretty good regular season as well. Their top 9 players are made up of  1 D1 transfer, 3 players who could be considered D1 recruits and 5 players(including their top 4 scorers) were all recruited as D2 players.

We swept western and they played us well. UNO has a positive history against western through the years. This is a different UNO team. Remember they played six of seven NCHC series on the road starting early December. Except for the hiccups against Colorado college in Miami, they’ve been pretty tough this year.

Agree. There are 6 teams in the NCHC that would finish in top 3 in the BIg 10, first in Atlantic Hockey, Top 2 in WCHA, Top 2 in ECAC, and Top 4 in HE

The group of six of us went to the Ground Round at four o’clock Saturday.  The wait was twenty minutes minimum. They had plenty of empty space but not enough staff.

ended up going to bww and got the last available table

    Same.

Rumors looked packed so ended up going to Pourhouse.

Who cares?  One down year. Twice didn’t make frozen four cuz we just didn’t. I don’t need to assign blame. The coach’s responsibility is to prepare the team and put them in a position to be successful. Our coaches do that. The guy and his staff can flat out coach. Sometimes stuff happens. Too many think because we have good fan support and a great venue, recruiting is easy and any failure is coaching failure. It doesn’t work that way.

Unfortunately, we have some in our fanbase who are ignorant and have developed an attitude of elite condescension that used to run rampant and probably still does exist in the Gopher fanbase.

The main aspect is that the other Colleges and Universities really only field hockey teams so that UND has someone to play.

How stupid is that!!  I get its a sign of solidarity, but clearly just virtue signaling.  Especially considering less than 3% of vodka imported to the US is from Russia.  And, Russia has already been paid for all the Russian vodka that is currently in the US.  Just dumb.

    Wait until China take Tiawan.

I would assume that would only be the case if one team won all of the games.

They are both pretty safe as far as Pairwise goes with SCSU having a 99.8% chance to make the tournament and UMD at 92%.

UMD would probably have a pairwise high enough to get in the tournament but need to make sure they keep their overall record at .500 or higher.

IF SCSU sweeps in Duluth this weekend then UMD would have to win their playoff series to be even considered for the NCAA tournament. Even losing a series 2-1 would eliminate them. Basically, UMD needs to win at least one game this weekend or win their playoff series.

I kinda like the dive bars in St Cloud.

I used to make the St. Cloud trip every year. Have met some great St. Cloud hockey fans. Some great places to stand and watch game at the Arena as I hate sitting.

Howie's pregame, bus to the game, bus back to Howie's. Maybe catch a meat raffle or with luck you have a great band playing at the Carpet.

Grab some Gary's Pizza on Saturday afternoon. Green Mill and the Lobby at Kelly Inn was always fun and some fun dive bars like MC Dugout and the Press Bar before it was burned down.

Maybe catch a cab and check out Sugar Daddy's.
