Not sure if it was longer, but for sure, MN went the last 12:20 without a SOG. Super impressive defensive display!
6 shots on goal the last 40 minutes

To be fair. many people have only seen clipped and edited 30 second clips and let that form their misinformed opinion.

The thing that really caught me off guard was who the 4th line scored their goals on. I figured our depth may create some mismatches this season where other teams’ 3rd and 4th lines struggle to hang with our 3rd and 4th. But I think all 3 goals were against UST’s top line. First one for sure was against their top line and top D pair. Zakreski’s was against their top line as well. Pretty impressive
Based on their line charts their top line and top d pair were all -3 last night. To be fair, their best player is on the 3rd line listed.

Good morning, great post. You’re absolutely right—there are many excellent public schools in the metro. What you described above sounds a lot like Wayzata, Chan, or Tonka. Overall, we were satisfied with our children’s education until we started running into safety and harassment issues. Things escalated to the point where we had to leave; one incident even involved a school lockdown, among other concerns.
We ended up moving our kids to Beacon Prep, and both my wife and I were stunned by the difference in academic performance—it was truly night and day. The biggest contrast I’ve observed between our local public schools and a high-performing charter like Beacon is expectations. In public schools, our children were tracked into standard-level classes, while at Beacon the baseline expectation was that every student would work at IB, AP, or honors levels.
Later, when our children transitioned back to public high school, they were placed into AP and honors courses without issue. They have since graduated college and they are working in STEM career paths.
My youngest brother and his wife moved to Eagan due to the excellent reputation of the schools there. My niece and nephew are now 20 and 18. They loved the schools initially......but the last 4-5 years it has been, let's just get through this as it has taken a serious downturn.

If you're gonna bemoan something, how about Schmidt drinking a Fresca at the post-game presser.
It's just as consequential.Had to downvote this.

Since this is the Homecoming game and I don't want to start a new thread.
Rules for Homecoming.
1. No earlier than the second weekend in October. (Exception would be a weekend falling on Oct. 6-7)
2. October weekend that has both the Hockey Team and Football team at home. Bonus if Volleyball and Soccer are at home as well.
3. Figure it out.

Did I expect Schmidt to turn things around with only a spring camp and fall camp? No
Did I expect we’d at least get the most out of the roster that he inherited and finally get rid of the numerous pee wee football level coaching mistakes? Yes
Unfortunately it’s pretty clear the same loser culture is still lingering if not fully alive within the UND football program. I’ll continue to watch and follow as this season goes on but man did I lose confidence in this turnaround seeing the same old short falls we’re all too familiar with. And scary enough, I think what we saw yesterday was just as bad if not worse than the entire bubba era, with Rudy OC in a close 2nd. Bone head player mistakes are one thing but not recognizing the kicker issue last spring, not having even an ounce of 2 min drill abilities in 2/3 games already and the offense play calling is absurdly poor and embarrassing. That’s on the coaches. They’re showing so far they’re just trying not to lose still, and it’s backfiring as usual.
Winning is hard. Years of bad habits are hard to break.

Some highlights today for sure and teams plays with more confidence and swagger.....but at the end of the day we found a way to lose to a team that we are conservatively 10-14 points better than.

It’s splitting hairs. Never been to either, but I do know from someone who played at The Big House that 100,000 aren’t necessarily loud on the field even if they’re giving it their all. Geometry is a larger factor, especially in open air stadiums. WaGriz is notorious for being loud for opposing teams. Haven’t ever really heard about Snyder whatever stadium.
have heard players say that playing at Michigan is like playing a 100,000 seat church.

This. I thought when we pressured Johnson he made some terrible throws, I didn't like when we decided to go in prevent mode that final K-State drive. Make him get the ball out of his hands quick. It was successful all game.
Yes. he basically threw 5 balls that should have been interceptions.

Mixed emotion's for me.
On one hand it was most definitely a game und should have won. On the other hand und was suppose to get blown out of the water. Hate moral victories as much as the next person but bubba would have had no chance in this game. Eric needs to clean up a few things but there’s just a different feel now. Swagger. Football toughness. Aggressive. You could see players put it on the line for this coaching staff. Bubbas teams folded by way of his o gosh I golly attitude.
I look at three specifics last night:
-Und easily should have had 4 INTs. would have been fine with 2 of them. Need to clean that up
-the last offensive drive. You need to be a risk taker when you’re playing a very good team. Settling for gut runs to the clock (which in return burned very little time ) was giving the game away . Wasn’t working all game. Why waste the opportunity here!? Jerry should have been given the keys for an rpo on all the plays. They only needed ONE first down to ice it ! Damn !
-the last defensive drive . So frustrating!!! For the life of me I will never understand why coaches go to prevent D!??? Never works on any level. Their qb had all day to read his routes with those talented receivers. Stick with what was working . They are an explosive team and und pulls off of being the aggressor. Their qb absolutely loved it .
Lost opportunity . Time to focus on Portland st . Put an absolute ass kicking on them and come out injury free. Montana game will be the game where I feel we can gauge this team.
This^
We talk about playing like a Junk Yard Dog and we pretty much did but with 3 minutes left we chained him to the tow truck.

we don’t need to copy WMU, just return to form.
I have said it for 7-8 years. I have always liked the way WMU plays, even with Andy Murray. They play Hockey the way UND "says" they play hockey.
The last few years when I heard buzz phrases like "hard to play against", "full 60 minutes" "take away time and space" it really has just felt like lip service.

I hear he wants to bring back BlackFace to the Kennedy Center too! That would be great! If only dear leader could help us with bringing back the REDSKINS and Fighting Sioux names again! We should get that "UND in 3 Years Guy" that calls into KNOX 47,000 times a day on that! HE should contact Trump and bring back the nickname that time forgot!!! GO UND GUY!!
PS - thanks also for solving the 2 cases of men in womens sports that have occurred over the last 20 years! Finding a solution to a problem that doesn't exist - what Republicans do best!

Guesses for the "would have never thought of this school".
1. Old school SEC country, could be a bigger university from the SEC or a small university outside of the Power 4/5.
2. Any school in Texas.
3. Utah/BYU/Utah State or even just a random university in the Mountain West portion of the country.
4. West Virginia
Not that I haven't thought of them, but FGCU would/could make the move. Arena in place with 3 sheets of Ice. 2 ACHA programs that have had plenty of success(d2 and d3) and they draw pretty well. No football program. Beach right on campus and the student body is 56% female.

Went back to the 80's - LONG GONE but it was a lifesaver for guys that lived in the dorms. Stumbled down the stairs from Walsh Hall many times to get a frozen pizza or other nosh after a long night at the bars. Only C-store on campus so it ruled.
RIP Valley Dairy! They sold all their stores (and soul) to Petroserve of Fargo a couple years ago. Not the same - their stores are jammed with crap and filthy. Worked graveyards at the Stanford Road VD going through college - it was a great job and I took pride working for a princely $6.85 an hour on the night shift. No benefits other than the occasional expiring microwave burrito at a five finger discount or roller dog that had been turning for 8 hours at the end of the night...chewy as I remember.
Lived at ATO so it was steps from our side door.
Was better known as "The Swet" since one of the e's in sweet and the h-e-a-r-t on the neon Sweetheart Bread sign that hung on the building were burned out.
"Jesus" worked there.

It looks like Martone is our only realistic option at this point out of the first round picks. The Flyers want him to play NCAA.
Desnoyers is looking to make Utah but will either go to his junior team or BC. Maybe he doesn’t go to BC if Hagens returns as well? He models his game after Toews, maybe he’ll model his career path as well.
I have not seen anything on McQueen going to college or returning to juniors. He could be an option.
Zonnon follows a bunch of college teams on instagram, including UND, but he was traded in the QMJHL about a month ago so it looks like he’s returning and playing with Carbonneau, if he doesn’t sign with BC.
All of the other first round picks that are forwards are returning to juniors, I believe.
If UND is unable to get lucky on these remaining guys, they will have to find a uncommitted player from a previous draft class, bring in one of their committed guys early, or look to see if there are any guys that want to come in from the 2026 draft.
The price for Martone probably just went up as Sparty just cleared some payroll.....not by choice.
