  1. Annoying, but impressive lol
  2. Round 1 tonight - ESPN - 6 pm Rounds 2-7 tomorrow - NHLN - 10 am UND recruits expected to be drafted: - Jayden Perron (2nd or 3rd round) - Andrew Strathmann (3rd or 4th round) - Michael Emerson (5th-7th round) Other players to watch: - UND's Jake Livanavage could be a late round pick - Adam Fantilli likely No. 2 overall after the Bedard coronation - Jayson Shaugaby (3rd-5th round) - Hampton Slykynsky (6th-7th round) - A big chunk of BC players could go round 1 - Steeves from UMD a second day pick? What other NCHC players go? https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/what-to-watch-for-in-the-2023-nhl-draft
  3. https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nhl/news/nhl-mock-draft-2023-post-lottery-blackhawks-connor-bedard/ahlnbsgeq8kvbzk8kt5ykwv5 Sporting News mock has Perron going No. 29 to STL https://www.lines.com/nhl/drafts Never heard of these guys, but they did a full mock. Perron first pick of the third round (65), Strathmann (77) and Emerson (142) in the fifth round.
  4. There's a great chance he goes late first round. I've heard of a couple teams that really, really love him. I think he'll end up going in the 2nd. Yep, spot on 2" and 20 lbs.
  5. If anyone is actually questioning his blue chip status, methinks Mr. Perron will show them differently very, very soon.
  6. Good write up here on Perron and his draft stock. I'm so pumped for this kid to be at UND. https://www.therinklive.com/junior-and-prospects/ushl/nhl-draft-countdown-no-7-jayden-perron-f-chicago
  7. Of club hockey.
  8. Would be odd for him to change his commitment again, methinks. But, I suppose it's possible.
  9. For every Brent Johnson or Cooper Moore, there are the Dylan Jameses and Ben Strindens..... feels like maybe we're being a little bit of prisioners in the moment.
  10. I mean, I think the reasons for Johnson being in the doghouse were very clear lol. He just wasn't a player who just ever really picked up his defensive side as quickly as needed. I think Moore had a good sophomore year, but I never saw him as anything but an average defender at best. He wasn't the god-awful player people were making him out to be this season, however. Totally agree he was scapegoated. Frankly, with whom we picked up, all four may be (in my opinion) better players than Bast and that's not even a knock on Bast. Three of them definitely are.
  11. All three have incredible upside offensively, but haven't shown enough steadiness defensively. Picking upside out of the portal is smart to do, especially if they feel like they have enough defense to cover the risk. Low risk, high reward. Particularly with guys like Moore and Johnson.
  12. Totally different players. Moore is much better offensively and Britt much more defensively sound. Considering the rest of the d corps and where Britt likely slots in (bottom pair), Moore will likely have a bigger overall impact, but Britt is steadier in the spot we need him.
  13. He's implying that we've been tampering, however. That's the only problem.
  14. It really is nice to have a kid come out and reinforce things, however. He trusts UND with his development, he loves what we have going on culture-wise, and he's a kid who's thought very highly of in the hockey world. I loved reading what he had to say.
  15. LOL I mean, it's good news, right?
  16. Not what I've heard, I guess. Sounds like he's ready to go, so if UND adds a 16th, it doesn't mean he's going anywhere. Just would be an additional depth piece is how I took it.
  17. I love it all so much. Seems like a kid who is gonna work his sack off to develop his remaining needs defensively and will absolutely shine for us the next season.
  18. Hopefully this puts away any kind of doubt around this kid.... maybe also reflects a bit on our consternation around "culture" here recently, too. "I'm super excited," Strathmann said. "I was just talking to the (UND) coaches. They thought it was best for me to come back, develop another year, mature another year, and I love it. To be here with my buddies again, to have another year of developing, would be great." Strathmann said he talked through the development path with UND and his family advisor. "We're all on the same page," Strathmann said. "I'm just so excited about North Dakota. How could you not be? "Those guys are a really tight group every single year. The culture is unbelievable. Every time I've visited, they're very warm and welcoming and super good dudes. I'm super excited just to be a part of that."
  19. Settle down, Wodon.
  20. For example.... Michigan helps a kid get out of their NLI by offering more NIL money
  21. Yep. Need the gel and need it FAST. I asked around about Zmolek and apparently all returns are saying he looks great and is ready to roll.
  22. Three with solid history, two with great history. Then, three freshmen with potential. I like the mix, but the mesh needs to start NOW. Not in October. Now.
  23. I don't disagree, but having Pyke Pehrson will assure our best two defensemen get the most ice. I want those two in nearly all situations to start the season.
  24. Nothing wrong with trying to get Schmaltz sparked, though. We've all seen the potential. No problem making the flip, but I would love to see an upperclassman in that group.
  25. I'm bored, so here's my line chart for game 1 this season : Blake - Berg - Gaber James - Schmaltz - Perron Kunz - McLaughlin (I'd be cool with flipping 2C and 3C) - Strinden Johannes - Jammer - Emerson Pyke - Pehrson Wiebe - Zmolek Benoit - Livanvage Komzak Persson Hedquist
