  1. I have never once seen a report of him saying he's going anywhere but UND. If you have, please post them because I would like to see it. All I have seen are reports that a commentator said that so and so said that blah blah blah might go to play juniors. It's all speculation. Brad got a quote from him at the draft saying that he is playing next year at UND. After that, just like any other first round draft pick that has a good season (hopefully he does), he'll have the opportunity to go play professionally either at the A or the NHL. Just give the kid a break.
  2. It's all BS speculation by announcers that don't know crap about college hockey. They don't understand that UND, in terms of NHL development, is a farm.... we breed successful pros. The Rangers have two players from Wisconsin (Stepan, McDonaugh) on their roster now so that tells me, and should tell announcers too, frankly, that the Rangers consider the NCAA a good way to develop their players. I wouldn't worry about J.T. going anywhere.... at least until after this coming season when, if he continue to develop (which he will with the Sioux), he'll have a shot at making the Ranger roster. In the meantime, I can't wait to see Miller don the Green and Black and eventually wear Broadway Blue!
  3. The North Dakota Green?? I kinda like it!
  4. It's not going to happen. Yes, we all understand what you are saying... We CAN go without a nickname, but it will NOT happen. It's nearly impossible to market a team with out a gimmick/name/logo. In the end, athletics are all about money and profit and there is no way that the higher ups will go without a gimmick/name/logo. Can you name a school with an athletics team, or any team for that matter, anywhere in the world that has survived successfully without a name? No... that's because it has never happened. The higher ups will NOT let us go without a name other than a short, probationary time, and still then, I don't even think that will happen. I want more than anything to keep the name but it is looking like more and more every day that that will not and should not happen. We need a name to make money for our sports. Period. It's just time to be rational.... sad days.
  5. That complete BS that it's a "hockey only" crowd. I know plenty of people that love the Fighting Sioux logo not because of the hockey team but because of their love for the tradition that the logo has given us over the years. This is a crappy issue. Why you or anyone want to create a divide among fans of UND regardless if they believe the name should be retired or not? It's a UND fan on UND fan crime and that's just dumb. We are all cheer for the same team and all wish this could be handled and behind us. Doesn't mean we can't have different opinions on if the name should go or stay. Just saying.
  6. Works out for me buddy.... Sioux hockey and sunshine.... gotta love it! haha
  7. Is that a complaint Goon?? Would you rather have sunshine or Sioux hockey??? The answer is easy for me
  8. I was listening to my iPod at work today, (yes, I love my job) and Miseria Cantare came on and I decide to brighten everyone's day a little by posting that the 2011-2012 men's hockey season starts in 120 days thus kicking off the skate for 8!!! Let the countdown begin. Now, please take down that score on the homepage..... LET'S GO SIOUX!!!
  9. Every time I see this on the homepage I frown. Another good day turned sour because of a bad memory. Pleeeeease remove it. Pretty please
  10. I do my best to stay off these things. As you have seen, it's a lot of BS most of the time with people that I feel don't really know what they are talking about. Like I do right haha....
  11. Lol you make that sound like he won't enjoy it.... Even if he is making 50,000 dollars a year, he's playing hockey for a living. Life will be so hard Good luck Brett! You'll be missed
  12. Good to know they know a lot about Hexy.... We only made one Frozen Four while he was here. Big time bummer. I wish Brett all the best and his style of play will certainly be missed. We need someone to be able to take the agitator role and someone to take it very quickly. His skill set wasn't the best on the team but his compete level was always at a top level. You'll be missed Hexy. Good luck
  13. I linked this on my Facebook wall and I had like 5 comments within a half hour along with I think 5 texts messages asking if this was real. All I said to them was, look at the time of the scheduled press conference.... April 1 at 4:01 p.m...... Well done Mr. Berger, well done
  14. Mentally prepared to me means not getting rattled at any point in a game whether you are up or down. Also, it's having the toughness to close out a game when you have your opponents on the ropes.... The Sioux have this quality
  15. I think mental toughness is actually our biggest strength. This team is absolutely determined to hang No. 8.... Couple that with a loads of offensive firepower, tremendous depth a D and great goaltending this year, we are on a mission. I think their toughness showed in the way they battled last weekend at the Five. We were down in both games and we had to mentally fight through that. For large stretched of the DU game, we we're out played. Make whatever excuse you want (Gregoire out, shuffling of the lines, etc.) but in the end, this team wanted it more and went out and got it. The tenacity on this team and the ability to close out a game in a close spot is something I haven't seen from many of our talented teams in recent years. I am excited for our run to start this weekend. As far as how we should play, I agree with goon, Saturday, get pucks deep and control the zone. RPI is fast but they don't have the talent we do throughout the line up to stay with us for 60 minutes. We play our game, sounds cliche, but we win. Sunday, if we are play well enough to get there, will be a different story. WMU plays a style much like UAA with some bruisers and plug plug plug play. We are far more athletic than them and should be able to use that advantage. DU is another story. This team is flat out good. But again, I think our tenacity and firepower will win out. We showed in the F5 Championship game that when we play our best, we beat Denver. If we get out of our game and get out worked, we could be sitting home for the Four. I am so stoked for this weekend and I think this is the start to No. 8.... Play our game and we go to St. Paul, because frankly, we are the best team in the country when we do so
  16. This, my friend, is the million dollar question. Dalrymple signs this, it opens several cans of worms, but he also assures, IMO, a hefty support in his future campaigns. SIGN IT GOVERNOR!!!! SIOUX FOREVER!
  17. Just a little frustration with the blogosphere and things like that coming to the forefront. I just get frustrated sometimes with people throwing stuff on a blog and it being taken as good journalism. I worked very hard for a long time to get where I am and crappy blogs that lack research and facts just get under my skin. Sorry. I'm on a six-day Sioux hockey-less streak and I need it quenched haha. This coupled with a cold makes for one disgruntled poster ha
  18. I am an employee of the GFH and an avid follower of siouxsports.com. My question is, how many more people are on SS.com at any given time then in the newsroom at GFH or DAZ? It's a huge difference. We are all doing our daily jobs and for us to stumble upon a link the the one in the Libya would take us away from doing our work. The post of the Sioux sweatshirt in Libya was from a person who had the time to surf the net and happend to stumble upon it at CNN.com. Once a reporter got wind of it, it was put on DAZ's website. It's unreasonable to think that every bit of news that we find is found from inside the newsroom. If it weren't for the internet and things of the like, it would be impossible for the GFH and DAZ to survive. Also, when it comes to the Williams and Ree story and many others that make it into the paper and onto our website, our reporters check facts, get quotes, re-check facts, then write the story. Reading something on a message board and the slapping it on the web for all to see does not constitute good journalism. So, maybe yes I am being a bit of a homer for my place of work, but lay off the finger pointing and bedroom journalism.
  19. A question mark?? How? Dell leads the WCHA in record and GAA? Not sure you can get much better than that... stupid comment.
  20. Lower bowl preferred but upper bowl works too!
  21. Hey all, Looking to buy a pair of tickets for the 27th (sunday) game against BSU. I work Friday and Saturday nights and I haven't been able to catch a game yet this season. Please help me out! Thanks
  22. Where is the ticket thread? Sorry, I'm kinda new to this whole thing....
  23. Hey all, I'm looking to buy 2 tickets next to each other for the BSU game February 27 (sunday). I would prefer lower bowl tickets but upper bowl would work. I work Friday and Saturday nights and I really wanna catch a game before the end of the season. Help me out!!!
  24. Buccigras yes, Melrose...absolutely not. He is the definition of east coast bias. His knowledge of college hockey is weak and he never gives anyone outside of HE any credit for their programs. Trust me, listen to him this weekend. He'll be kiss some major behind of the Wildcats and Terriers and giving very little respect to our Sioux and the Buckeyes
  25. whooh....how smelly was that PP this weekend against Wisco? wow....
